For the most part, a fun and challenging experience

Overall, this was a very good program. I really enjoyed how close my peers and I became over the three weeks. We all offered each other support and guidance to get through the program. I enjoyed the varied examples for the warmers and context settings. I liked the all of creative activities in the classroom! I feel like I was given a lot of useful tools and activities to use in my future classroom. The instructor's written feedback was very helpful. I do wish more time had been spent on classroom management techniques. I also felt like we were usually pressed for time to prep for lessons because we had spent so much time doing other things. While I could tell that our instructor was interested in teaching and has a lot of experience, I found that she relied heavily on verbal communication when assigning us homework/explaining lesson plan formatting. I would have preferred to also have it written down in its entirety (only parts were written). She could be very blunt and clearly show her frustration when a student was not understanding a concept. She could have explained it in a different way to get the message through. The teaching practicum was the most helpful part of the experience as we were able to put everything we learned into action. The schools were varied in their skill levels and class size. Because of the short time frame of the class, it was a bit of a "trial by fire" approach, but it really made me think on my feet and be creative, two things which are important to be able do as a teacher. I left the classrooms feeling very accomplished!
Overall, I would recommend this program. It is less expensive than some of the alternative programs and instills a solid foundation of knowledge and skills in the TEFL graduates.

Asian College of Teachers

I had so much fun when doing this course and would recommend it to anyone. It is really worth it even if you have a B.Ed Degree, because you learn how to make use of key word and body language while teaching.

I would also recommend this course for anyone else who never had any experience with teaching. The course gives a broad outline of how teaching needs to be when teaching English as a foreign language.

Thai salad with an amazing experience.

A warm experience with some people from different corner of the world, apparently with the same passion. Just contrast of various students teach you enough. Undoubtedly worth it.
The program subtely takes you to teaching world and the ways you can demonstrate a language to a person who has never heard of the language. It's the cheapest ride I could find, but definitely, if you want to get TEFL certified, it's worth it.
Speaking thai has been a personally a challenge, bit looking at the welcoming nature of Thai people, I don't think it will be hard to stay here for an extended period of time. I officially love Bangkok, Tefl and Asian college of Teachers.

What would you improve about this program?
The duration should have been a little longer...or else, this program does what it promises.

TEFL COURSE

This was an exciting and scary experience all at once . Scary because all the material was new and there was a lot of new teaching concepts to learn and exciting because when you get the hang of it it's a wonderful feeling.
I would suggest that anyone who has the desire to teach in Asia as an english Teacher should consider the TEFL course through ACT ( Asian College of Teachers ) .
I would also say having in- class experience is a must because everything that is taught in the class will actually help you in the classroom with your lesson planning as well as how to conduct a lesson .

What would you improve about this program?
I would suggest that the duration of the course gets extended . I feel the amount of time and the quantity of material are too much for the given time .

Introperspective in Bangkok

Hi all TEFL teachers
We arrived in Bankok to the warmth of the Thai people and culture. The course was intense and not as simple as anticipated. Come to Thailand with the right frame of mind that the course is intense . Many areas to cover. Amazing experiences in thai class training. Subject matter well presented and put across .. There were some really difficult areas in our studies. We had a brilliant lecturer JUNE ... 😃😃 friendly , warm , helpful ,patient. We had an amazing co ordinator in Pak.. always helpful in and out of class questions . Food , Travel at weekends .
Wow .. We learnt sooo much . In 3 weeks . Definetly a must do . It is amazing . The Thai people and culture are so warm and friendly..

What would you improve about this program?
I believe a week longer would help.

Summary Review

This was my first experience abroad. I believe that without the assistance from our co-coordinator, i would have certainly been lost in the system of things here. Having a teacher as passionate as June, without a doubt made the world of difference, she was always willing to go the extra mile, whether it was with regards to course material, or even helping me out when i left my passport in the taxi. I feel that even if i didn't use my TEFL certification after the course, that just having been apart of the experience would have been well worth every penny and every minute I've invested. The course has taught me so much more than just how to teach an EFL class, and i know for sure ill be using these skills for the rest of my life. I discovered i have a passion for teaching, and after every Thai class practice lesson, i genuinely just wanted to walk back in, despite the nerves before the lesson.

What would you improve about this program?
I found all our information provided was thorough, however if anything, knowing where to get food that was much like home( South Africa) would have been awesome.

Great experience

If you want face to face hands on TEFL training, ACT offers the best deal. After all my research with different companies, ACT offered the best price for hands on training. Many other companies just threw you into an online program. I had a blast meeting everyone from all over the world. I really got to connect with my fellow students over the course of 3 weeks. The instruction from June was great. She is a fantastic teacher. The support from both June and Pak was great too. I was always able to reach them and sometimes even had questions after hours when class was already over. The course load was not difficult. We did have to prep sometimes for peer teach and demo lessons but the time you spent doing that outside of class was up to you. We were given time in class to work on most things as well . Regarding job assistance, Pak was able to find me two jobs in Bangkok, but since I really wanted to get a job outside Bangkok, she gave me a few contacts to aid me in that as well. i wish I possibly could have had more job opportunities offered through ACT but I just worked very hard on my own after hours during week 3 of the course utilizing different job boards and contacting many schools and agencies on my own. Overall the course was great. I feel very prepared to jump in and be a teacher after all the tools and skills ACT has taught me. The only thing we wish we knew ahead of time was that there are ways to teach without a college degree in Thailand (under an education visa) so I wish this was made clear to me because then I may have had a few people join the course with me. Thanks for an awesome time!

What would you improve about this program?
More information provided prior would have been helpful. notifying me about a discount at the hotel for my partner and i would have probably made me decide to stay at the hotel versus finding other accommodation and had i also had known college degrees were not required, i would have had some other people join me
