Don't miss out

This programme was genuinely amazing in terms of support and experience, the organisers were super communicative and were always quick to help and respond even via email. The programmes itself was perfect, from the group activities planned to the guidance given regarding teaching. They were very accommodating and helpful.

As for accomodation, it was very clean and nice, you had to share with a couple people but overall it was tidy, clean and comfortable. Food was provided and transportations to and from the schools were paid for. It really is an experience you don't wanna miss out on.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Bring sunscreen! And leave alot of space in your luggage when coming.
Pros
  • Great teaching experience
  • Authentic culture appreciation and locals
  • Friends for life
Cons
  • Possible food poisoning
  • The sun is deadly
  • You'd wish it lasted longer

Bed thing I’ve ever done

The best thing I’ve ever done. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me grow , these type of experiences make you learn so much about yourself and the world- if you feel stuck and like your floating… DO THIS ! It helped me learn a lot about myself , what I do want and what I don’t want and I have come back home a completely different person . I feel unable to go back to normality now I know what more is out there in the world and I plan to continue my adventures thanks to Gotoco. I would recommend it to everyone

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve racking thing for me was the social aspect… I’m am quite introverted but this forced me into a social situation and I surprised myself with how capable I was … it has opened my eyes
Pros
  • Social life
  • Cultural experience
  • Life adventure
Cons
  • Communication
  • Accommodation for some
  • Wider variety of group activities

Incredible experience and adventure

Two weeks in Thailand teaching children was not on my bucket list for 2026 but I am so glad I did it. You don't have to have any teaching experience, you just need to be able to challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone. Seeing the children having fun and learning the language was so rewarding. As well as teaching, you also get taken on excursions to go sightseeing and exploring the culture.

The application process was seamless and I got accepted very fast. Our programme leaders Emma and Morgan were amazing. They were supportive and able to help with anything we needed (and great tour guides). Thankyou Gotoco!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to people considering this programme would be to just do it, it is an experience that you will never forget and you will m
Pros
  • Making new friends
  • Immersing yourself in a new culture
  • Having the best time of your life
Cons
  • Going home

Fantastic opportunity to develop yourself, experience another culture, and meet new people!

I'm extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to visit Vietnam thanks to Gotoco and Further Afield. The experience was one of a kind, and made even better by the group of people on the programme. I'll never forget my time on the programme: the teaching, the excursions, the food, the challenges, and the fun! In just two weeks, I've grown as a person, and I've witnessed others on the programme visibly develop themselves too.

Gaining a TEFL certification will also open doors to new opportunities to live and work abroad, and I'm excited to explore this possibility!

Highly recommend!

What was your funniest moment?
Learning that Vietnamese people call newborn babies "ugly," and give them undesirable nicknames like "stinky" and "fish sauce" to ward away bad spirits!
Pros
  • Meeting locals and immersing yourself in the culture
  • Working and collaborating with a diverse group of people
  • 120 hours TEFL training opens new doors
Cons
  • Sharing a room with others is something to adapt to
  • You won't necessarily be best friends with everyone in the cohort so be civil, professional and avoid drama
  • The itinerary and teaching schedule can change last minute - be prepared to think on your feet!

Life changing opportunity.

I joined Gotoco' Vietnam Programme.

Highlight:
The possibility of learning directly from Vietnamese people, their generosity in sharing their culture, the interactions with children and university students, and the believe that what you have done has given them more tools for becoming a successful global citizens.

All of my friends are asking me how to join.
It is one of those things that you can't quite believe is happening to you, it is an extraordinary programme. Vietnam is an incredibly beautiful place, but it is much more than that. People are incredible, kind, welcoming, engaging, and you learn a great deal about yourself and what you have to offer to the world.

I am so grateful, still at awe by what I had experienced, and wanting to do even more.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
To teach children under 5 years old. I didn't think I was going to be able to, and yet, I believe I was able to connect, engage, teach and have lots of fun while teaching English.
Pros
  • Cultural Immersion.
  • Challenge oneself.
  • Hone skills you can take with you for life.
Cons
  • The heat in June, thank you global warming.

Fantastic opportunity for personal and professional development

I just returned from a 2 week placement in Thailand. What a brilliant opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. From learning about and immersing myself in the culture and exploring new places, to teaching in an English camp and meeting new people, it has helped me develop both personally and professionally. If you get the opportunity to join a placement with Gotoco I would absolutely encourage you to do so. It will help you develop confidence, resilience and many other skills you can take forward with you in your future career.

Highly Recommend this experience

Just completed the two week programme in Thailand. The whole onboarding process was efficiently and clear. Despite being a very large group everything was well co-ordinated. The hotels and hostels, whilst a little basic (as expected) they were well located clean and welcoming.

The organisers did their best to accommodate everyone's food and activity preferences.

The English camps ran for 5 days with two age grous of children and one day with the teachers. Were great fun and you could see the confidence of the children and the teaching group growing everyday.

I returned home having experienced 'real' Thailand with a new found ambition to continue my TEFL course and return to Asia on a longer programme soon (with GotoCo)

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
A dried Cricket! Tasted like an oily bacon crisp!
Pros
  • Organisers with local knowledge
  • Being part of a diverse group
  • Opportunity to see less touristy parts of Thailand
Cons
  • Lack of resources for teaching such as coloured pens etc for activities

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

Gotoco was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. My husband and I took part in the programme together, and it became one of the most rewarding experiences we have ever had.

Teaching in Vietnam, immersing ourselves in a different culture, and meeting amazing people helped us grow both personally and professionally. We developed new skills, gained confidence, and created memories that will stay with us forever.

I would highly recommend this programme to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure, meaningful personal development, and a unique international experience.

What was your funniest moment?
There were so many funny moments every single day that it is difficult to choose just one. We shared countless laughs with the children we were teaching, whether during lessons, games, or simply trying to communicate across different languages and cultures.

There were also plenty of funny moments during our travels and activities with the group. One of my favourites was when my husband and I decided to surprise everyone by buying matching Vietnam-themed couple outfits and wearing them on one of our group trips. The reaction from the group was priceless and it became a memorable moment that we still laugh about today.

The programme was full of joy, laughter, and unforgettable experiences from beginning to end. 😊
Pros
  • Cultural immersion and authentic local experiences
  • Personal and professional development
  • Lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories
Cons
  • Some participants demonstrated behaviour that many found inappropriate and uncomfortable, including twerking, kissing other participants, and overly intimate interactions despite people being in committed relationships.
  • Gossiping and discussing other participants behind their backs was disappointing and did not align with the values of mutual respect and professionalism.
  • I believe stricter behavioural expectations and clearer standards of conduct would improve the overall experience and ensure all participants feel comfortable and respected.
