Fantastic opportunity for personal and professional development

I just returned from a 2 week placement in Thailand. What a brilliant opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. From learning about and immersing myself in the culture and exploring new places, to teaching in an English camp and meeting new people, it has helped me develop both personally and professionally. If you get the opportunity to join a placement with Gotoco I would absolutely encourage you to do so. It will help you develop confidence, resilience and many other skills you can take forward with you in your future career.

Highly Recommend this experience

Just completed the two week programme in Thailand. The whole onboarding process was efficiently and clear. Despite being a very large group everything was well co-ordinated. The hotels and hostels, whilst a little basic (as expected) they were well located clean and welcoming.

The organisers did their best to accommodate everyone's food and activity preferences.

The English camps ran for 5 days with two age grous of children and one day with the teachers. Were great fun and you could see the confidence of the children and the teaching group growing everyday.

I returned home having experienced 'real' Thailand with a new found ambition to continue my TEFL course and return to Asia on a longer programme soon (with GotoCo)

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
A dried Cricket! Tasted like an oily bacon crisp!
Pros
  • Organisers with local knowledge
  • Being part of a diverse group
  • Opportunity to see less touristy parts of Thailand
Cons
  • Lack of resources for teaching such as coloured pens etc for activities

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

Gotoco was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. My husband and I took part in the programme together, and it became one of the most rewarding experiences we have ever had.

Teaching in Vietnam, immersing ourselves in a different culture, and meeting amazing people helped us grow both personally and professionally. We developed new skills, gained confidence, and created memories that will stay with us forever.

I would highly recommend this programme to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure, meaningful personal development, and a unique international experience.

What was your funniest moment?
There were so many funny moments every single day that it is difficult to choose just one. We shared countless laughs with the children we were teaching, whether during lessons, games, or simply trying to communicate across different languages and cultures.

There were also plenty of funny moments during our travels and activities with the group. One of my favourites was when my husband and I decided to surprise everyone by buying matching Vietnam-themed couple outfits and wearing them on one of our group trips. The reaction from the group was priceless and it became a memorable moment that we still laugh about today.

The programme was full of joy, laughter, and unforgettable experiences from beginning to end. 😊
Pros
  • Cultural immersion and authentic local experiences
  • Personal and professional development
  • Lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories
Cons
  • Some participants demonstrated behaviour that many found inappropriate and uncomfortable, including twerking, kissing other participants, and overly intimate interactions despite people being in committed relationships.
  • Gossiping and discussing other participants behind their backs was disappointing and did not align with the values of mutual respect and professionalism.
  • I believe stricter behavioural expectations and clearer standards of conduct would improve the overall experience and ensure all participants feel comfortable and respected.

Once in a lifetime experience

An amazing experience with a great group of people in a vibrant country. Working with kids from kindergarten up to university, alongside a host of extra activities - it was a perfect trip and introduction to TEFL. It made me re-evaluate myself and what I want to do, and I couldn't recommend this course enough! Brilliant company and all round fantastic two weeks....can I go back yet?! 😭 The accomodation is well equipped and a big size, I stayed in an external hostel as the house was full but spent all my time at the house. Food cooked for you twice a day by local Vietnamese mum's who volunteer with the company - it's the best food I've ever eaten. You'll make new friends and memories that you never thought you'd have

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Get involved in every bit of everyday life and soak in every second - it's over before you know it!
Pros
  • Working within a vibrant and welcoming country
  • Putting some good into the world by helping teach
  • A variety of activities to get stuck into

Vietnam June Camp 2026.

Just back home in the UK, and I'm still feeling enthusiastic and excited about this adventure that, unfortunately, is now over.
It's been an experience that has certainly changed me: I feel more confident and have more self-esteem.
Having a confrontation with someone from a different Culture and sharing my daily life with a group of new people is a challenge, but at the same time, it has made me a better person: now I’m always open to trying new things and available for a confrontation on any topic.
I highly recommend this program!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Climbing the Marble Mountains in Da Nang: I’ve been very surprised by myself because I was always reluctant to do these things.

An unforgettable adventure!

Participating in this teaching program in Vietnam was an absolutely incredible experience that pushed me well out of my comfort zone and helped me embrace my independence. Before this trip, I was focused on business administration, but the hands-on experience of teaching children and leading classroom activities made me realize how much I truly love it. It gave me the confidence to completely change my career trajectory, and I am now seriously pursuing a path to become a full-time teacher!

The cultural immersion was beautiful. From our first group day at the beach to the traditional cooking classes, I loved every second of it. My absolute favorite part of the daily routine was having chats with our wonderful Vietnamese hosts, which made me feel deeply connected to the local culture. The staff, especially Aaron and Hayley, were exceptional; they managed the group with a kind, supportive approach that I found incredibly inspiring.

Pros
  • Amazing hands-on teaching experience that deeply builds your confidence and leadership skills.
  • Incredible daily cultural immersion, including traditional cooking classes and bonding with local hosts.
Cons
  • The extreme heat and humidity can be physically draining if you aren't prepared.

Amazing Experience!

This has genuinely been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I am so grateful that I took the leap and signed up, because it has given me memories, friendships and confidence that I will carry with me forever.

Before coming to Vietnam, there were so many things I never imagined I’d be brave enough to do. Over the past two weeks I’ve pushed myself outside my comfort zone in the best possible way. From trying amazing new foods, exploring a completely different culture, riding on Grab scooters through busy streets, and going out in the evenings with the wonderful friends I made, every day brought a new adventure. I met so many incredible people from all over the world, and I truly never expected to form such genuine friendships in such a short time.

The teaching itself was the highlight of the entire experience. Spending time with the children was incredibly rewarding, and seeing their enthusiasm, curiosity and confidence grow made every moment worthwhile. It reminded me how meaningful even small acts of kindness, encouragement and patience can be. Having the opportunity to complete my TEFL certification alongside the placement made the experience even more valuable and has given me skills and confidence that I’ll carry into the future.

This programme has changed me for the better. It has helped me become more confident, more independent and far more willing to embrace new experiences instead of being afraid of them. More than anything, I learned so much about myself: what I’m capable of, how strong I can be when I challenge myself, and the kind of person I am and can be. It showed me that I’m far more resilient than I ever realised and gave me the confidence to trust myself in situations that once would have terrified me. I returned home with a newfound confidence, lifelong friendships, a deeper appreciation for different cultures, and memories I’ll treasure forever. It was truly life-changing.

I also want to say a huge thank you to Haley and Aaron. They were both absolutely fantastic throughout the programme. They were always supportive, approachable, encouraging and happy to help with anything we needed. Their enthusiasm, kindness and reassurance made such a difference, and knowing they were there meant we always felt supported from start to finish.

I honestly couldn’t recommend this opportunity highly enough. If you’re even thinking about applying, do it. You never know how much it might change your life until you experience it yourself. I’ll definitely be recommending it to all of my friends and encouraging them to sign up, because it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I will always be grateful for this opportunity and for everything it has taught me.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The most surprising thing I did was riding on the back of Grab scooters. Before coming to Vietnam, I never thought I’d be brave enough, but it quickly became second nature and ended up being one of my favourite parts of the trip. Visiting the Marble Mountains was also unforgettable. They were absolutely breathtaking, and exploring the caves, temples and incredible views was one of the highlights of my time in Vietnam.
Pros
  • Confidence
  • Friendship
  • Personal Growth
Cons
  • Too short!
  • Hot weather
