6 weeks in Bali

This was such an amazing experience! It's a great way to see more of the world and the funding makes so much possible. The teaching is extremely rewarding and provides you with loads of transferable skills alongside teaching, like confidence and independence. It was the first time I had been on a long hall flight, and my first time outside Europe. There's also loads of time to explore and travel in your own time, with some great trips planned for you. Everyone was so nice and supportive and this is a great way to spend the summer!

Pros
  • Lots of experience doing things independently
  • Do incredible travel fully funded
  • Meet amazing people
Cons
  • It is very hard work
  • Sharing a space the whole time can be socially draining

A summer of fun!

I went to Thailand funded by Gotoco for six weeks this summer and it was such a special
and happy time. The people in my group were so lovely and I continue to stay close with
them all even back at different unis. One of the most special things about the programme
though was the students we taught, their joy in learning desire to understand different topics
was heartwarming and created special moments that I won't forget anytime soon. I also went with a friend through the Gotoco programme where you can apply together which was such a good idea and meant we built on our friendship and the overall experience. I couldn't
recommend this programme enough!!

Pros
  • New friends
  • New experiences
  • Chances to travel

Loved my time with Gotoco

Going to Thailand with Gotoco made this summer one of the most memorable times of my life. Teaching in a small school in the middle of rural Thailand was way out of my comfort zone, and everyday kept my mind full and my heart warm. Additionally, the experience as a whole contributed to a real boost to my confidence, especially travelling so far (Thailand), with no one I knew, and as a 19 year old first year. The constant group settings helped tremendously with any challenge I faced and the community we had was something I was not expecting to be this strong. I made such good friends with people from the programme and outside, and I also took the days off to travel to the south of Thailand's beaches, with my roommate from the programme, which ended up being the single greatest trip of my life. I'm extremely content that this trip got to be both a great skill-building experience that can contribute to my resume, as well as an unforgettable soul-shaping adventure.

Phuket Teaching Experience

I had the most amazing time being based in the heart of Phuket. The beautiful scenery and opportunity to immerse myself in the culture of Thailand enabled me to develop a true sense of independence and to open myself up to meet many new people. The teaching experience was also incredible, the school and students were beautiful. Although naturally moving to a new country on your own for over a month is very challenging, the number of skills I gained from it was unsurmountable. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a personal and skills-based challenge.

Gotoco - Bali 2022

Incredible opportunity for people looking to travel and try interesting/different career path. Would recommend as you meet a lot of cool people, learn new things and immerse yourself into a very unique and far culture. Moreover, you get to complete a TESOL/TEFL certificate (depending on the programme you are in) which is helpful in tutoring roles or any other kind of teaching related jobs. It is funded by government and a lot of students participate. Awesome opportunity to see far end of the world without spending much money. Do it while you can - you wont regret it.

Good enough to go again

Seriously, if you are one of those people who can't sit still on your ass, sign up! Gotoco will take care of all of your free time. They will make u busy with making new friends, trying new food and drinks and going to places. If they don't, they will tell you where to go during your free time. I would definitely try to go to different countries with gotoco again! My favourite trip was Tatacoa Desert where u can get lost in labyrinth of dry canyons. Amazing weather and little bit different food than in the rest of Colombia

Thailand summer program

Such a great opportunity at an accessible price for people who would not be able to afford something like this otherwise. It was a great experience of learning to teach whilst also travelling and making new friends. I was lucky enough to teach only 30 minutes away from Chiangmai where I would stay for 4 weeks. Gotoco were only a WhatsApp message anyway whenever I needed them and the host was very welcoming. They organised many day trips throughout my time there such as temple visits and trips to markets and local towns. All around a great experience.

Great experience in Bali

I adored travelling to the many temples around Ubud and engaging in cultural exchanges with local teachers and residents. Travelling to North Bali to swim with dolphins, and to the west of the island to engage in turtle conservation was also really special.
The highlights of the experience for me were being able to teach such impressive and enthusiastic children. Having the space and time to travel around Bali on weekends was also extremely fascinating.
I loved the local programme; it enabled me to gain lots of experience in teaching, the freedom to travel to so many places and see so many things that I would otherwise would have been unable to do.

Pros
  • Excellent support for teaching
  • Opportunity for adventure
