Spain

I loved the little idiosyncrasies in the process of teaching English, especially in the early weeks. The times when we could guide teachers in the learning of English confirmed that I would enjoy teaching longer-term, something I was unsure of until the program and I am glad that I learned I could handle it and be quite good at it. I loved gradually--and sometimes slowly-- learning more of the Spanish language. The camp was about English immersion, and all our lessons were done entirely in English, but if you ventured outside of the camp to the bar or to the local shops (and by 'local,' I mean the shops an hour away in Montoro,) you needed Spanish. As a Latino in the United States, it meant a great deal to me intellectually and personally to improve my Spanish while guiding others in the English language. It motivates me to consider the yearlong program in Colombia. I would be thrilled to do this if you'd have me again.

I loved the days after swimming when my roommate and I would sit on our deck and look at the Andalusian hills. Our house had an Italian coffee maker and we got very good at using it during this time. So that memory--of swimming and then very calmly drinking home-brewed coffee is special to me.

I loved the times when we would have late-night conversations at Bar El Nino, the inside jokes, the laughter. I loved walking up and down the hiking trails and learning about each other in small unspoken ways.

I loved the way this program returned me to an older, more confident version of myself. Being in university can make you question everything about yourself -- your worth, your values, your ability in comparison to others--but I was so grateful for this program which confirmed a self-confidence I thought I had lost. I left Venta feeling more capable, prepared for a job outside my comfort zone, and with a huge new set of friends to help me if I need them.

The best experience of my life

If you want to try something different, Gotoco offers many exciting opportunities.

I taught English in Thailand for almost 2 months in 2023, and I don't regret it. It was an excellent way to travel, get experience working abroad, meet cool people, and all while being very affordable. It involved a lot of cultural trips, Thai language classes, Thai cooking lessons and many more. I have very fond memories of my time with Gotoco!

I would recommend the experience to anyone who fancies an adventure.

Pros
  • Meet new people
  • Exploring different culture and environments
  • Build confidence
Cons
  • Seem like they’re short of stuff

Gotoco FUNDED TEFL Adventures (Bali, Thailand, Colombia, Europe, SE Asia)

Travelling to Bali with Gotoco was an amazing experience that enabled me to meet people with the same interests which included travelling and exploring the career of teaching. It provided an opportunity to travel and learn about a different culture whilst allowing you to share the teaching experience with your fellow Gotoco participants.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Gotoco as they were very supportive throughout the program and helped us organise a variety of trips outside of teaching.

Adventure of a lifetime ! 🫶

I will be forever grateful to have discovered GoToCo. I originally applied to a 6 week programme in Bali which turned into almost a year long adventure in Southeast Asia. Everything is genuinely fully funded, from flights and accommodation to food and activities. The funding is extremely generous, the staff are amazing and so supportive, and will help you through any problems that may arise with travelling.
Teaching in Bali was so special and enjoyable for me, and the partner company was equally as amazing. The people are so lovely, and obviously the place is beautiful. This company has truly changed my life and I would 100% recommend it to anyone wanting to teach and travel.

Pros
  • Extremely generous funding
  • Amazing support from staff
  • Experience the beauty of Bali
Cons
  • A few food hygiene issues (nothing to do with GoTo though)
  • A lot of bugs (bring bug spray!)
  • Genuinely cannot think of a 3rd con of Bali

One of the best experiences of my life

The Bali programma was an incredible opportunity to meet like-minded people while exploring a new country, a new culture, and connecting with the local community. Everything was provided for, from food and accommodation to flights. The Gotoco team was extremely helpful in sorting out any issue that would arise, they took care of us when we felt unwell (this will most likely happen to any European when living in South East Asia!) and they organised so many trips and excursions throughout our stay. Thanks again for this fantastic experience!

Pros
  • Adventure
  • Confidence building
Cons
  • Non-European food/hygiene standards (not really a con)

A great adventure

If you want to try something different, Gotoco offers many exciting opportunities.

I taught English in Spain during Summer 2022, and I don't regret it. It was an excellent way to travel, get experience working abroad, meet cool people, and all while being very affordable. It involved cultural and gastronomic exchanges, a swimming pool on site, and a wonderful trip to Granada at the end. I have very fond memories of my time with Gotoco!

I would recommend the experience to anyone who fancies an adventure.

Pros
  • Affordability
  • Adventure
Cons
  • Tiring, at points - but that's inevitable!

Thailand 6 weeks

I loved how involved our school was with how we are doing and progressed through the placement. On weekends, our school director took us to different nearby provinces that were hard to reach and not touristy. Without this, I would have never seen and experienced these places.

GOTOCO is a good experience to gain after university for life and professional skills. I would recommend it to anyone looking at teaching aboard, global travel or a career break. It gives you a new career gateway of teaching English as a foreign language and the option to have a career abroad.

Incredible 2 months in Bali

Very grateful to GoToCo for this opportunity and for incredible 2 months in Bali!

Easy application process and support throughout the program.

Life in an incredible villa surrounded by like-minded peers.

A lot of free time to explore the island and get immersed in local culture.

Great teaching experience with no prior experience necessary.

Memorable weekend trips and parties.

Pros
  • Outstanding accommodation - living in a villa with a pool
  • Great weekend activities, trips and parties
  • Staying with like-minded young people who share your goals
Cons
  • Severe food hygiene issues. No hot water in accommodation.
  • Management not transparent enough, communication could be improved
  • Could not complete all TESOL observations, had to arrange tutoring lessons at home.
