Good experience

I had a really good experience with this tefl provider. The platform was easy to use and the support was really efficient. the content of the course was very comprehensive and easy to follow. the resources were excellent and offered lots of really good websites to use for further study. The electronic copy of the certificate was received within a few days of completion. I did the level 3 course and really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this company to any friends or family because it was so efficient and easy to use.

What would you improve about this program?
I would maybe offer the assignments at the end of the course instead of midway through.
Pros
  • fast
  • lots of support
  • efficient
Cons
  • none

Online certificate level 3 Tefl

Although having been an English teacher for more than 10 years, there are still a lot to learn from the TEFL Academy. There are many necessary things I have learned from their programs: the engaging games tips, the lesson procedures, the notice for teaching online, how to create suitable learning environment, how to deal with multi-lingual class... After all, it was a nice journey. I am satisfied with what I have been taught. Thank you the TEFL Academy. I will recommend to my friends who want to teach abroad.

A worthwhile investment towards your future!

I was initially on the fence about taking this course, but after giving it some thought, I decided to take the plunge! In the end, I was so happy with my decision!

In my opinion, successful completion and getting the most out of this course will depend on the following:

Your grasp of the English language - As a native English speaker, there wasn't anything in the material that I've found really challenging. I'd say the most challenging aspect for me was essentially becoming a teacher through Assignments A and B but other than that, nothing really stressed me out. My experience doesn't represent others. I'm certain most people coming into this may not be confident in their ability to teach English. That's okay! No matter what your proficiency of the language is, if you stick with this course, who knows, you might find that in the process, you'll get a much needed boost in confidence!

How much time you're willing to commit to this - They give you six months to complete the course. This is a little different from other courses where you aren't given a specific timeframe. This motivated me to complete it in a little less than three months, but everyone's different. Regardless of differences in learning/understanding the material or what you personally have going on in your life, I do suggest allocating enough time each day (or whenever you can. Don't put pressure on yourself!) to get through each lesson. Proper time management is a must for any teacher anyway, so it's important to start building this skill now as you take the course.

Your drive/motivation to become an ESL teacher - I cannot stress this enough: have the right reasons for YOU to want to become an ESL teacher! You might have stumbled on this course because you've heard that once you obtain it, you can make some good side income with it on your resume. Maybe you want to travel the world and really immerse yourself in other cultures. Or maybe you just have a passion for teaching. Note: actually liking and or wanting to teach will get you far. Trust me.

Whatever your reason for starting this journey, I recommend you have a talk with yourself and ask "why am I doing this?" I'm not gonna hit you with some hard truths about the state of the ESL market in 2024 or anything regarding the potential pay. Honestly, you can look on reddit or some other platform if one of your reasons fall under the things I've mentioned above. I don't particularly suggest becoming too attached to all the negativity out there. While other peoples' experience is valuable, it's fairly easy to let the negative comments discourage you.

So again, what do you want out of this experience? Why do you want to take this course? Level 3 will certainly give you all the tools you need in order to become a great ESL teacher. Yeah, it lacks somethings in areas, but overall, I believe it's a good jumping on point to start a worthwhile career!

Pros
  • Six months to complete
  • Can go at your own pace
  • Speedy replies from tutors if you have questions
Cons
  • A bit of a learning curve for those who don't quickly grasp onto new and or unfamiliar topics
  • No face-to-face interaction can result in lack of confidence in abilities

Best learning experience.

The experience was great firstly because I was given enough time to work through the course and complete it. Secondly the weekly webinars were very helpful in guiding me through the course work. Thirdly, the tutors are very helpful through their platform/forums, and you can email them anytime and their replies are timeously. They give detailed feedback on assignments which helps a great deal if you didn't pass the first time. The course is full of informative knowledge for anyone embarking on their teaching journey. All in all, I recommend the TEFL academy if you want to study to become an EFL teacher

Valuable experience

This was a great value for money training course, with a high level of training. Very useful forums and youtube videos provided as part of the course content.
This course met my needs so that I could look for work as an English language tutor.
I was able to complete modules at my convenience, fitting this in with other commitments.
The opportunity to meet with fellow students would have been nice but this was not available in my region so on-line was the best option for me.
There is also the option for the TEFL Academy to help with applying for jobs and writing a CV.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would have done this course sooner.
Pros
  • Improve employment prospects
  • Help in finding employment
  • Value for money
Cons
  • Difficult to motivate on-line
  • No inter-personal contact
  • Too many acronyms

Level 3 TEFL Review

Hi, I’m a 20 year old university student who completed the course for after I get my bachelors so that way I can teach abroad. I found that I really enjoyed the course especially the platform because online school makes it much easier to complete work whenever I like. Also the site chosen is easy to maneuver. I found the only thing I would hope to improve would be the engagement of the course. I felt like if there were some more mini assignments or tests it would help me put into practice the material being taught.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I would say the first assignment was nerve wrecking! Creating a lesson plan for the very first time can be stressful and there were some challenges for me in terms of trying to come up with something cohesive especially to suit the selected student group.
Pros
  • Teaches different teaching strategies
  • Practice making lesson plans
  • Explained potential future hurdles in my career path
Cons
  • Didn’t always know if I was absorbing the material fully
  • Prefer slides over videos
