Comprehensive and Flexible: An Excellent TEFL Course for Beginners

The TEFL Academy’s Online Level 3 TEFL Course is an excellent program for anyone looking to start their journey in teaching English as a foreign language. The course material is comprehensive and well-structured, covering essential topics like lesson planning, classroom management, and grammar teaching in an engaging way.

The online format is highly flexible, making it easy to balance with other commitments. The platform is user-friendly, and the resources provided are practical and relevant. What stood out to me was the detailed feedback from assessors—it was constructive and guided me to improve my skills effectively.

Overall, this course provided a solid foundation in TEFL and gave me the confidence to step into a teaching role. Highly recommended for beginners or anyone seeking a qualification to teach English abroad or online!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

Motivational Course

I was surprised by the depth of the content provided in the Level 3 course from the TEFL Academy - I found it to be very comprehensive. This was motivational in itself, but the layout, platform and ease of progression through the different lessons and topics certainly helped to keep up with regular access. I specifically appreciated that each Unit was broken down into lessons, and each lesson further broken down into sub-headings. This meant that it was easy to dip in and out with sub-headings easily covered within a 20 minute work break, for example. I also liked that your progress is displayed each time you log in - it gives you a real sense of advancement. The end of unit tests provide a good reflection of the content and the feedback on assignments was very helpful and went into greater depth than imagined. All in all, great value for money and would happily recommend to others.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I was really nervous about the lesson planning. It really did take ages to start with, but became easier. Still requires work to speed up the process!
Pros
  • Gives me a recognised teaching certificate.
  • Allows me to apply for jobs I wouldn't be able to otherwise.
  • Genuine sense of discovery and learning on this course.
Cons
  • There is plenty of additional reading suggested and i haven't yet found the time to go through it all
  • Doesn't offer classroom experience, which may not suit everyone. They do integrate videos to help to overcome this.
  • I wasn't able to complete this course in the allotted time due to work and family commitments, but was able to finish by purchasing some top-up time.

Excellent course for starting a new journey

I've recently completed my Level 3 TEFL certification, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! The course was well-structured, with clear instructions and engaging content that made learning enjoyable and manageable. The support from the team was fantastic, they were always quick to answer questions and provide guidance when needed. I've gained so many valuable skills and feel confident to step into the world of teaching English. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to start their TEFL journey!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-racking moment was probably when I received an email to say that the assignment grading was complete and available on the student portal. I overcame it by gingerly navigating to the result, crossing my fingers and praying that I had passed. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the colour green indicating that I had passed.
Pros
  • Self explanatory
  • Well-structured
  • Flexible times

Mature student

I wasn't sure if TEFL was for me but I'm glad I did the 120 hour course, it's been enjoyable and challenging, I did it intensively over 3 weeks and felt it manageable. I have started as a teaching assistant for a local refugee group, so excited to be part of TEFL world. I am unsure about my teaching ability without actual experience but hope to gain confidence through the refugee group I'm working with in ta role. Level 3 didn't offer the add-on teaching block which would have been useful maybe something TEFL academy could consider in future.

What would you improve about this program?
Have teaching experience as an add on for 120 hrs course
Pros
  • Webinars are great
  • Quizzes useful
  • Builds knowledge
Cons
  • No teaching experience on the course

My Road to TEFL

When I took my first step to becoming a TEFL-certified teacher, I was quite nervous and I had many questions in my mind. How the process was going to be, is it going to be challenging, and will I reach my dream of becoming an international English teacher? As I started my TEFL program at TEFL Academy, all of my worries disappeared. I had a well-constructed program that was both engaging and easy to follow. Whenever I had questions, I had many helpful advisors replying to my emails as soon as possible. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the outcome and I would definitely recommend this website if you are considering achieving your TEFL certificate and taking the first step to becoming an international English teacher.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
When I first saw the assignment A, I felt like I returned to first day of College! Almost everything was new to me and I just couldn't decide where to start or what to do! Then I submitted my work which I was still quite unsure about. Long story short, I failed in my first submission and even started thinking maybe I'm not qualified enough to have a TEFL certificate, then I decided to take a small break and returned quite ambitious. Followed my advisor's feedback, realized my mistakes and improved them. I submitted once more and passed this time! Felt very satisfied with myself and grateful to my advisor.
Pros
  • Quick Feedback
  • Easy to follow assignments
  • Well made study program to follow
Cons
  • There's not an option to see how much time left to complete the program
  • İllustrations could be better
  • Not enough information about in-class activities, games.
