Gotoco month-long placement in Thailand

It is truly very unique to have such an insightful experience provided at such a heavily subsidised cost. You learn so much during the five weeks, not only about what it means to be a good teacher, but also about a foreign culture in a way that is impossible to do when you a only visiting as a tourist. It has given me greater awareness of what teaching English abroad entails, as it is a career option I have been considering for some time now. I believe that, should I pursue this as a career path, I will be better informed on how to be a better teacher. It was also great being put with 4 other gotoco'ers as it necessitated effective communication every day to better plan our lessons, and I feel that this has been the area which I have most improved on.

Pros
  • Heavily subsidised
  • Very well organised
  • Opportunities to use the month-long placement as a stepping stone to longer placements with Gotoco

My summer with Gotoco & Educo !

My Summer abroad this year was fantastic. I’d been planning it since freshers week! I saw their stand and had to learn more. I love volunteering and projects that nurture special experiences.

The staff online were so easy to talk to and helped me decide which project to chose from. There were so many! Genuinely whatever location/project you’re looking for Gotoco can help make it happen. I ended up choosing to go to Italy to teach English through music & drama with Educo.

There were complications on Educos part (not their fault) so whilst away there was some panic and confusion as to how our project was going to look. Luckily, Gotoco were great on their end and organised and extra cultural tour week for us. From what I’m aware, we didn’t have to pay extra either. They really helped out a lot of my friends doing the same program with me.

A cultural tour is basically this reward ✨ almost ( after all the hard work) thag you get to go on after the teaching to relax- Some projects might differ, most are like this.
We got to go to Venice in the week of Educo has now work, and then Rimini as pre organised.

On my end my summer with Educo was fantastic. They’re also an independent company, like Gotoco, so of course after the pandemic there’s going to be a bit of turbulence. But next year things will keep re building. That’s why it’s really important to work with companies like this because it not only supports an organisation of dedicated ppl, but it also supports the local areas you’ll be working with <3

10/10 experience and I will be going with them next summer to do other things!!!

You can chose between a Tefl/ TESOL. They offer help with funding if you’re broke (like me and other students haha) or you can go with your university.

Pros
  • Special experience
  • Learn how to be a teacher
  • Meet unforgettable people

Great experience, perfect opportunity to travel and make friends

Amazing experience. Made so many friends and a great way to gain experience working with children, really enjoyed it! Matty was great during the cultural tour, gave a lot of insight into German culture and offered advice on how to teach children, he is well experienced in the field and was so helpful having his advice. The cultural tour is a lot of fun, a great way to get to know everybody before you start to work together, you are given an allowance for each day you are there to cover the costs of food, and accommodation is free.

Pros
  • Making friends
  • Not expensive
  • Experience with working children
Cons
  • Communication is sometimes not amazing

Highlight of my summer - fantastic experience

During my time in Thailand with Gotoco this summer I learnt a great deal about TEFL work as well as Thai culture, gained valuable teaching experience & access to a prestigious TEFL qualification, became part of a social community & made some great friends, was presented with further opportunities for employment and of course got to travel extensively around Thailand & SE Asia - all for free! The team at Gotoco have succeeded in providing an excellent opportunity to obtain all the above at no cost to the participant. Joining Gotoco is a decision I am very happy with and I would highly recommend taking part to anyone with the time to do so.

Pros
  • Very social activity - great opportunity to meet others
  • Generous funding - all free
  • Work experience & opportunities for career progression

6-week certTESOL programme in Bali - fully funded

I was amazed that this experience was completely free - we were flown out to Bali, housed and fed and had the amazing opportunity to study for the certTESOL and teach a class of local kids. It was a really fulfilling time. It was a great way to travel somewhere new and have the support of the staff at Gotoco as well as other people on the programme. I think doing this programme has definitely put me in a better position having just graduated from university - it is a great CV addition, especially if you are interested in teaching.

Pros
  • Fully Funded
  • Meeting lovely people
  • Qualification
Cons
  • Limited information before we got there

Gotoco review

i would do this trip again and i would like to do it with a friend. i hope the next time i do this there is more organisation and i would like to work with children. I enjoyed meeting new people and learning more about Spain and the Spanish culture. making new friends who i honestly think ill be friends with for a long time. being pushed out of my comfort zone was really good and i feel ive improved my public speaking skills. there was a village fiesta one night. that was really fun and I feel that everyone bonded that night. one of the activities was to act out a movie scene and my group did mamma mia which was really fun.

The best opportunity!

When I read about gotoco I thought it was too good to be true, but I've just spent the most amazing two months in Bali with my flights, meals, accommodation and TESOL qualification paid for. I've made friends for life, memories I won't forget and gained experience which will be invaluable to future job applications. The TESOL qualification was challenging at times and more time consuming than I anticipated, but I think this will ultimately mean that it is more beneficial in the future. I really recommend Gotoco to anyone interested in teaching or travelling.

Pros
  • Value for money
  • Cultural immersion
  • Making friends

GoToCo - Poland

Please tell us about some of your most enjoyable moments of the trip?

During the programme, I really enjoyed the workshops that we attended each Wednesday. During these sessions I was able to be very creative and the interactions with the Polish participants was much more natural.

What was the best thing about your experience?

For me, the highlight was the Cultural Tour, which was excellent. I really appreciated having the tour guide to provide us with ideas for exploring each city and restaurant recommendations

Would you recommend participating to a friend and if so why?

Yes

This has been a unique opportunity to travel to places that I may never have considered before, and to broaden my experiences in a way that would not have been possible otherwise

Pros
  • Cultural Tour
