Bali Gotoco Program

I really enjoyed the teaching and really getting to know the children in my class. I found it to be really rewarding and I grew in confidence throughout the programme. I also really enjoyed meeting new people and exploring Bali with them, for example by going on weekend trips away to different parts of the island. The nights out in Ubud were also great and provided a good stress relief after a week of teaching. The whole experience was amazing and I felt like I really experienced a new culture/ country by staying there for an extended period. I made lots of new friends and had so many incredible experiences, such as hiking up a volcano. I also felt like I was doing something really rewarding by teaching English. All of the staff were super friendly and everything was really well organised.

Pros
  • Learning about a new culture
  • Exploring a new country
  • Making new friends

Great TEFL programme

An incredible opportunity to meet new people, a different culture, and travel. All of the above are fully funded! I was in Poland for three weeks with Angloville Poland. The experience was incredible, with beautiful venues to stay in and relatively decent food. The only cons of the programme usually involve things out of Gotoco's control (for example, some venues didn’t know the difference between vegan and vegetarian, or that kind of thing). But overall, the experience was spectacular, and I would surely recommend it to a friend.

Amazing experience- highly recommend

TESOL: the lessons were provided by engaging teachers, and the assessments were straightforward to complete. Not all the necessary hours of observation were conducted in Bali, but Gotoco provided alternative placements so we could finish the course within six months.

Gotoco: the team were very friendly. Lisha and Jared were very approachable and happy to help with any issues. The trips organised were incredible, such as the turtle conservation. I think an important area to highlight is the effort that Gotoco made to help participants socialise with each other. Being far from home in a foreign country can sometimes feel isolating, but the Gotoco team went to great lengths to create a friendly environment in which everyone was able to feel comfortable.

Teaching: the children in Bali are lovely and eager to learn. You are in a school with two other participants, which can make the experience less intimidating. TESOL staff (shout out to Beth) are always eager to help and support you if you need any advice. A teaching assistant who is fluent in Indonesian and English is also on hand to provide any assistance you might need

Pros
  • The people
  • The fantastic trips
  • Bali is paradise
Cons
  • The food provided isn't western so be prepared to try new things

Gotoco Poland

I would recommend gotoco as it gives you the opportunity to make connections with young people and travel for free. It is a really rewarding programme and gives you the opportunity to make a difference to young peoples lives as well as building on personal skills such as leadership and conversational skills. After the 3 weeks in summer camps you get to go on a 5 day cultural tour which is fully funded, which gave me the opportunity to travel to places I wouldn't have got the chance to otherwise.

The most rewarding summer experience!!!

Spending a month teaching in rural Thailand, learning about the culture, living with locals and teaching eager and open-minded children was a rewarding and eye-opening experience! The team at Gotoco and the support we received over the month in the rural schools were amazing. The great selling points, of course, are the 1 week before in Bangkok and the 1 week after in Kho Pha Ngan! I made many new friends and had the best time exploring and travelling. Really and truly such an unforgettable company and experience, I am so grateful to the team and to the hosts at the schools for allowing us to be a part of such a mindset-shifting cultural exchange programme. Many thanks <3

Pros
  • Cultural awareness
  • Making new friends + confidence
  • Becoming more open-minded about careers

Gotoco @Poland

This is a funded programme organised by Gotoco. Gotoco has provided me with a chance to explore more about teaching while doing it in a country that I have never been to. I gained a lot especially in talking to students, and teaching English as a second/foreign language.I met a lot of new friends from different parts of the world when I was in Poland as well. After 3 weeks in teaching, Gotoco organised a cultural tour for us to explore more about Warsaw and Krakow. 10/10 would recommend it to those who are interested in teaching!

Incredible 6 weeks teaching in Thailand.

The 6 weeks I spent in Thailand were unforgettable. I enjoyed teaching in a rural school and living amongst the teachers and the locals. Without GOTOCO, I would have never had the opportunity to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I met so many incredible people on the program and had the best time exploring Thailand in the first training week and during the culture tour in Koh Phangan. I have built up a lot more confidence and independence and I have learned so much about Thailand and its culture. I struggled with the food that I was given during my teaching placement however, this was individual to my school and experience.

Pros
  • Confidence building
  • Teaching experience
  • Meeting new people
Cons
  • Adjusting to culture
  • Communication within the school

Bali

I have loved meeting new people and feel like I have come out of it with a great group of friends from across the UK. I have enjoyed teaching the students and have been able to see Bali in a way I would not have done if I travelled here for a holiday.

To say that the majority of the trip is free, it is definitely worth doing. Aside from the tesol course being quite time consuming when you're there, being able to travel and meet new people in a different country is a great opportunity to have.

Pros
  • Meeting new people
  • Experiencing new culture
  • Affordability
Cons
  • Tesol is a lot of work
  • communication with partner companies
