I joined Gotoco's English teaching programme in Thailand in August 2026, and it was genuinely one of the best experiences I've had.

My favourite part was teaching English to children aged 6–12. We organised lessons, played educational games and spent time getting to know the students. The children were so welcoming, and by the end of the programme, we had built such a strong connection that saying goodbye was really emotional.

Another highlight was meeting people from different backgrounds and making friendships that I've continued since returning to the UK. We also had opportunities to explore Thailand, visit temples, experience the local culture and spend time together in Bangkok.

The funding support was a huge benefit, as it helped cover travel and living costs and made the experience much more accessible.

The programme also helped me become more confident, independent and adaptable. I improved my communication, teamwork and leadership skills while experiencing a completely different environment.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Gotoco to anyone interested in teaching abroad, travelling and experiencing something meaningful. It's an experience I'll always remember!

Gotoco made teaching in Thailand really easy to get into.

The team was friendly and organised, the training prepared me well, and I always felt supported along the way.

Teaching the kids was a lot of fun, and the cultural trips were a great extra, from temple visits to exploring on the weekends. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way, and I met some great people while doing it.

Lesson planning takes some effort and the heat and food took some getting used to, but it was all worth it. I'd happily recommend it to anyone thinking about it!

I had a really positive experience with Gotoco and Further Afield during my teaching programme in Thailand. It was a great opportunity to experience a different culture, meet people from different backgrounds and step outside my comfort zone.

I particularly enjoyed working with the students, planning and delivering lessons and seeing them engage with the activities. The programme also helped me develop my communication skills, confidence and adaptability, which I know will be valuable in my future career.

The local partners were welcoming and supportive throughout the experience and the cultural activities gave us the opportunity to explore Thailand and learn more about local life. The application process was straightforward, communication was good and the teacher training provided useful ideas and resources to help us prepare.

Overall, I would recommend the programme to anyone looking for an opportunity to gain teaching experience, develop personally and experience life in another country.

I have previously completed a teaching placement with Gotoco, and it was as amazing this time as it was the first time. I had an amazing time in Vietnam and it feels so inspiring to teach these enthusiastic children. it inspires me to do something like this long-term as a career. I think that it is also such a unique experience so if you are in your summer break, you’re deciding to take a gap year, or you want to try something different and think that teaching is a good pathway for you, I think this placement is definitely worth checking out. I personally went to Vietnam and I really enjoyed my time there, as I think it is a little bit different from other countries such as Thailand which can be more westernised. I think it’s important to choose a country/ area that fits more with what you like!

Anyone looking for an adventure; look no more! This program is particularly good for someone who not only wants to travel, but wants to fill their travels with unique experiences. This program in particular lets you journey to China, while also meeting fellow students from the UK and the wider world. While meeting these new people, you get to experience how it is to teach English in a foreign country, as well as constantly having the opportunity to learn more about China via the tours and trips ran by Gotoco.

Teaching in Thailand for 2 weeks was awesome. It's the perfect blend of travel and tourism. You have the opportunity to see the country's more well-known destinations, but also it's far out areas where tourists don't normally travel. The teaching, as well, is so fun, it's such a unique way to interact and learn about another culture all whilst they are learning from you! Honestly can't think of any cons besides the 25 hours it takes to get to Thailand--but there's no way to end up in Thailand and have the experience without this so you just gotta stiff up a lip.

The most increadible experience
I really enjoyed meeting everyone on the programme and making new friendships. I think that we were all a very diverse crowd, coming from different backgrounds with different experiences, which made everything increadibly interesting and stimulating. I also think working with the kids was such an amazing and eye-opening experience. It gave me a great understanding of what it means to be a TEFL teacher and work with kids, and it has inspired me to continue looking for more TEFL opportunities that I hope to get involved in.

I think that Thailand as a destination was perfect and is a place that I would definitely love to explore further in the future. I believe that the support given by Gotoco before my departure was amazing, especially with the quick, thorough and reassuring responses that I received. I think that the structure was also well thought out, with each day consisting of something new with different events and activites. I appreciate the guidance and the support I was also given throughout the trip as well.

The programme coordinators were all increadibly nice and welcoming with a good attitude which was quite nice to have and were all great points of contact.

Joining Gotoco 2-week TEFL course in Thailand was an amazing, well-rounded experience that perfectly balanced work, study, and cultural immersion. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet incredible people, explore beautiful places, try amazing food, find out more about Thai culture and history and learn more about myself along the way. It even made me seriously consider teaching English abroad in the future, especially at summer schools. Meeting and working with the Thai teachers and the pupils was extremely rewarding.
