Once in a lifetime experience

Think pacific was not only an incredibly fun experience but an insightful one too. I cannot remmonend this enough to anyone who is looking to learn and immerse themselves into Fijian culture. By living with people from remote villages you get the most authentic experience and meet the most incredible people who will become your family over the month. From trying new foods, speaking a new language and even learning new skills like weaving and cooking it is one of the best things you can do! I hope to go back and visit my family and take part in future projects!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Fish straight from the river, cooked on a fire!
Pros
  • Insightful

Just do it!

It was a fantastic experience. Joining the Think Pacific Youth Empowerment program was an unforgettable experience. The Fijian community welcomed us with open arms, and the friendships I made were incredible. Sure, there were tough moments—feeling homesick or facing challenges—but that’s what made it so rewarding. It’s not just about doing good; it’s about growing through discomfort. The people, the culture, the memories—I wouldn’t trade them for anything. If you’re ready to push yourself, this is the program for you.

  • New family, friends

Life changing experience

If I’m being honest I have no words to describe what an amazing experience this was. My village Soa, will always be a second home to me. The kindness, hospitality, and the unconditional love I felt in that village will never be forgotten. Thank you think pacific for showing me Fiji. I will never forget Everytime we danced, drank kava, stayed up late and star gazed. The moments we all shared, the jokes I simply can’t get over this amazing experience. I wish it had been a bit longer because I loved it

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would not change a thing
Pros
  • Unconditional love
  • Landscapes
  • Meeting friends from all over the world

Think Pacific Youth Empowerment Project

My Volunteering trip to Fiji with Think Pacific was hands down the best month of my life.

Firstly from signing up with the company to arriving in Fiji I found them to be absolutely amazing. There was so much information available and they were always happy to help with any little query you had!

Then from arriving the trip was planned perfectly and I had the most amazing time from the moment I met my group to the day we left the village.

I took part in the youth empowerment project and it felt like a really worth whole project. There is a guidelines for all the workshops when planning making sure you get the key information across in each workshop. The workshops themselves were also on extremely important topics that every youth in the village could relate to. This helped make the work we were doing feel that bit more special! The culture course was also fantastic run by volunteers from the village, it really allowed you to learn the ways of Fijian culture helping you understand what it really is like for them.

Living with a family in the village was absolutely incredible. They really became my support in there and they couldn’t have cared for me and my fellow volunteers better.

Couldn’t recommend volunteering with Think Pacific enough, it will change your life!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
For me I found delivering workshops to be very nerve racking but that was why I picked this project. You become so close and comfortable with one another that when it comes to delivering your workshops the nerves go and it really builds your confidence!
Pros
  • Build confidence for those who aren’t familiar with solo travelling
  • You meet the most amazing people
  • Immerse yourself entirely in a new culture

My personal experiance in Tombu

It really is an experience you have to have! It is an incredible privilege to join such a kind and open community. The love and fun you share in this community is just incredible! I learnt so much every day in the workshops and cultural courses. I not only made new friends from Europe, but also from Fiji. And the best thing is that after the project you have a second real family on the other side of the world! It was the best thing in my life and I have already planned my trip to visit my second family next summer.
PS: The food and culture are elite and almost unbeatable.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment was when my Nana (Fijian mum) taught me and my sister how to wash my clothes. I had never had to do this before and suddenly half the village was standing there watching me.
Pros
  • learning new ways and views
  • new family on the other side of the world
  • connection to nature
Cons
  • Almost no privacy
  • Different food than in Europe
  • Different climate (Mosquitos!)

Such an amazing experience

My month in Fiji was so amazing this review won’t even scratch the surface of my experience. The Think Pacific team and community are so welcoming and really helped make my experience in Fiji. I couldn’t have done it without them. My project leaders were so amazing and the sense of community and safety I felt in Fiji is incomparable. The amount of love I felt from complete strangers is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. I wish I could go back and do it again. I honestly couldn’t recommend this enough genuinely!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Definitely goat and eel! They were on the table and prepared I couldn’t not try them!
Pros
  • Friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime
  • My family, I will have to go back and visit
  • The collective joy and love I experienced
Cons
  • Was definitely quite expensive
  • I got sick during the project, but most people did
  • It was too short!

Mental Health Expedition

I had the opportunity to live in Naocobau located right on the coast of Fiji, it was gorgeous. As a group no one had a single bad thing to say about the whole project and if we didn't have to go I would still be there now. TP taught me valuable skills and helped me to be comfortable in presenting, aided through the workshops we were delivering. I cannot recommend this experience enough as it was honestly the best month of my life. The people I met from the project are now lifelong friends, and even in direct contact with a lot of the friends I made form the village

Pros
  • Learn new culture
  • develop new skills
  • meet new people
Cons
  • Travel
