So, I wasn't the typical participant for this trip. I wasn't 18-24 years old doing a gap year. I wouldnt be extending my trip past the 8 or so days we were together. With that said, I thought the trip did a good job introducing me to Sydney with a few weeks here and there. Basecamp was a ton of fun...honestly don't forget to take advantage of the beach while you're there! Sad to leave my group (#thecore) but so stoked to have met everyone. Including our tour guide Anna!!!! #besttourguideever

What would you improve about this program?

Less walking. Haha.

I just finished my first week in Australia with Ultimate Oz.
I would recommend this program since it helped me to get settled in Down Under. You will experience a lot in a short amount of time and get detailed information about your Work&Travel Year. The Ultimate Team is super chilled and will help you with everything.
Even though I would recommend this Trip in my opinion it is a little pricey since not all meals are included and you have to pay for some bus transportation

Unbelievable experience to start off your travels in Australia ! Great time with some mates and staff are ever so friendly ! Definitely worth it! People will definitely love the boat cruise through the Sydney harbour with the picturesque views. Then spending time in the beach camp gives you a real Australian experience living out in the wilderness with your mates. Highly recommend telling everyone about this, you will not regret spending your money on the trip. Abi is also pretty sick.

Had an amazing first week in Australia, thank you Becky and the rest of the Ultimate crew for a fabulous time!! Now looking at booking more Ultimate tours! We were able to experience so much with Utlimate including cruises, sports and even Australian wildlife. They also made a birthday very special by going out and buying a cake etc. Not every travel company would do that! The guides spoke a variety of different languages so that everyone was included and their outgoing personalities made everyone feel welcome and encouraged us to have even more fun. Thank you

The ultimate oz adventure is an amazing week, the team fill the week up so much it is surprising how cheap it is in comparison. The tour guides are all so much fun and extremely helpful, I do not regret any of it one bit. The first day was a fun way of meeting all the people you spend your time with, second day was an amazing boat cruise and bbq with alot of fun things to do, third day Wednesday we headed off to Base Camp for a fun day and camping trip on the beach, 5th day was again in Base Camp and included a lot of sight seeing and sand boarding, 6th day was another amazing cruise and last day was a fun good bye to the team.

What would you improve about this program?

All of the participants could be put in the same room in the hostel to begin with so that you get to be with your new friends more.

I highly recommend ultimateOz they are so friendly and funny as well! The tour guides are so cool! The activities are so nice the places you are going to explore are wonderful and it's pretty cool when you can do it with such a crazy and funny group like I did with ULTIMATEOZ.

It's awesome guys :D I had an great time I really didn't want to miss. They will help you out if you have any questions. You can call them or write them they will always be there for you. I am really glad I booked my travel with ultimateOz. I had a really funny and exciting time.

The week of UltimateOz was great! All of the activities were so much fun and it was really nice to met people from all over the world. I especially liked the Harbour Cruise and the Basecamp! The guidance was great and you can ask them everything. They help you with a simcard for your phone, a bankaccount, finding work and planning trips. So if you are planning a trip to Australia, UltimateOz is a really good start for your adventure in Australia!

Ultimate oz has been such a good start to Australia, everything is organised for you. It was nice to meet so much other people. The staff was so good and nice. They will help you with everything. It was a very nice start in Australia. The hostels are great and clean. And you can easily meet a lots of people. So Ultimate is a great company with an awesome team. Every place we have been has been good and the guides have loads of knowledge. Office team were all mega helpful and really friendly. They help make ultimate travel not just an ultimate week. Why did you choose this program?

I knew I wanted to go to Australia, but was a little nervous travelling solo for a whole year. I chose to travel with UltimateOz because I really wanted to make a group of friends when I first got here, see the city right away, and have support with finding a job and housing.

I had heard good things about the package from people who had taken the tour before, and figured it would be a good way to adjust to life in Australia.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

UltimateOz was awesome with helping me get situated in Australia! They set me up with a job service account (where I ended up finding my current job), housing, Australian SIM card, and a Tax File Number and bank account.

I really appreciated having all this help right off the bat, so I wasn't stuck trying to figure out the basics and wasting time and money!

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I'd definitely recommend putting yourself out there! You'll meet tons of other people on UltimateOz who are all doing the same thing as you are. The tour is a great way to make friends, and the guides make sure you're included. You might even have new roommates to live with by the end of your tour!

I'd also recommend packing lightly! You can (and will) buy anything you need over here in Australia, so make it easy on yourself as a backpacker and bring only the essentials. Finally, enjoy! UltimateOz is a great program and they really make sure you have everything taken care of, so treat it like a year-long vacation!

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The first week of UltimateOz is so much fun! We did a city walk on the first day -- seeing the Opera House for the first time was amazing! The next day we went on a cruise around Sydney Harbour, then headed to another part of Sydney that I wouldn't have seen on my own.

Basecamp is a definite highlight of the trip -- the area was beautiful and sand-boarding was a great time! I also got to channel my inner Britney and hold a snake during a reptile show, which I never thought I'd do!

Since finishing UltimateOz I've been traveling around Australia. I found a job in Sydney with the help of the jobs agency, and have been loving life here!

Now I get to explore Sydney and other Aussie cities on the weekends, and I'll be back on the road again soon!

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

My biggest fear coming to Australia was being nervous about making new friends and getting settled in the area. I was able to meet so many great people on my tour that I forgot I was worried about traveling alone.

Having the Ultimate staff here to help me with the job search, housing, and all the little details was a huge relief, and I felt like I could adjust to my new home easily with their help!

What's next on the bucket list?

After my year in Oz, I'm thinking of heading to Southeast Asia on the way home with a few friends I've made here. New Zealand is also somewhere I've always wanted to go, so who knows? The world's my oyster!

What is your favorite travel memory?

Traveling in Australia

As much as I love the city life, it's good to get away from it all from time to time. Having travelled quite a bit, it's actually not that easy to find places where you can fully switch off.

A few years ago, I was lucky enough to spend my birthday on a little island hidden in the maze of Halong Bay. We were having a bonfire at the beach on the one side of the island when one of the guys told us to go across to the other side where literally the entire beach was glowing bright green. You hear about fluorescent plankton, but actually seeing it for yourself is absolutely magical.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I've started out as the nerdy German intern, but soon was responsible for cash outs and even helped with job interviews for new staff. After I had finished my studies in Berlin and properly moved over to Sydney, I was a tour guide, worked in admin & customer service, and was point of contact for overseas agents.

Today, I look after the marketing, the website, oversee our tours in Asia and get to work alongside the most amazing bunch of people. I've grown with every task and understand every angle of the business, which helps to appreciate the hard work everyone is doing.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

You need to believe in what you do and genuinely care for your customers. It's relatively easy to make something look amazing online or in a brochure.

Only if your customers have a great time and your own staff are your biggest ambassadors, you know you're on the right track.

Being happy coming to work and having an awesome team is super important. I'm proud to say I'm working with some of biggest nutters you can imagine, but wouldn't want to miss them for the world. Our office chat might very well be the least relevant, yet most hilarious company group conversation out there.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I've been on every single program we offer. In fact, I was part of putting some of them together and help to make sure the experience for customers is the best it can possibly be. I am especially proud of Ultimate Vietnam and Ultimate Thailand. Both tours take you to places away from the main tourist tracks you'd thought only exist in movies.
