I'm totally disappointed with the unprofessional services provided to me. The host was not up to expectations and it took them months to find me a replacement. Be careful when finding an agent that is reliable.

Australian Internship is good,
As it is not fake,during our process they always make us aware about challenges and difficulties what will be going to come during work.
About accomodation and facillities its really good and safe.
As this internship is going to give us international exposure in my CV.

What would you improve about this program?

Please try to give placement in 4* or 5* Hotels.

To be honest i really enjoying my internship here in australia. But im not enjoying my work especially my co-workers they are lazy and taking advantage on us interns. Its say they will give me supervisory training but until now they haven't giving me that privilage. So if you ask me nows my skills development going on? I will honestly answer it or rate is 1.

What would you improve about this program?

I would like to encourage you to keep an open line of communication with your supervisors and colleagues at the hotel. Workplace perceptions have a significant influence on how people get along with others, specially when you are working in a cultural diverse work environment. By having a conversation with your supervisor, you will be able to raise your concerns, gain their feedback and get a positive outcome. The internship program is also about learning soft skills such as communication, negotiation, trust building and conflict resolution, so take this as an opportunity to enhance your interpersonal skills and get closer to your managers and peers.

I spent one year in Darwin, NT as an intern. During this period I have learnt a lot and have grown professionally. After successful completion of my internship I was offered a permanent position. A huge THANK YOU to Australian Internships for making my dream come true!

What would you improve about this program?

Prices for accommodation in Darwin - it too expensive

Three weeks of planning and I was boarding a plane from Canada to Australia. I didn't have time to think, to change my mind. Everything had fallen nicely into place nicely- flights, accommodations, my internship. I felt assured.

I arrived in Sydney, Australia on September 10th, 2012. A day book marked in my life. From that point forward things would never be the same.

I interned in Marketing within a mid sized company where everyone's contributions were easily identified and valued. My internship was for a 26 week period. During that time I was assigned a wide range of marketing tasks- Social Media Marketing, designing brochures and ads, editing the companies website and email marketing. I took a serious interest in email marketing. I noticed many inefficiencies and quickly I was on my way to redeveloping and automating the email marketing system.

I had opportunities to gain unbelievable experience both life and professional. And today, I call Australian home :)

I want to thank Australian Internships for the great and friendly service and for finding me an internship that changed my life.

What would you improve about this program?

Better accommodation services.

This has truly been the adventure of a lifetime and one that has changed my life forever. Moving to Sydney was the first time I had moved anywhere on my own, I was 7757 miles away from Seattle, did not know a single person in the entire continent and yet I have never felt more at home.

I was lucky enough to intern with Australian Internships itself and from the second I walked in the office I knew I couldn’t have made a better decision. The staff welcomed me with open arms and their enthusiasm, drive, and compassion quickly became extremely apparent.

I am so fortunate that I was able to intern with AI itself and get to know this incredible staff. Everyone here is truly passionate about what they do and believe in the benefit of this program. This was demonstrated by their drive to constantly improve their services which has continued to motivate and inspire me. Most importantly though, they care about their interns and I have experienced this first hand. This staff goes above and beyond always keeping the intern’s best interest in mind because they want to see them successfully improve their career opportunities and help them in any way they can.

I have learned so much in this position and gained extremely valuable experience that will be a huge asset to me in my future career and this is all thanks to Australian Internships. I have been involved in all aspects of marketing ranging from social media marketing to strategic planning. When I am asked by my friends and family at home why I love my job though, my answer is always because of who I work with. This is why I would 100% recommend Australian Internships to everyone because not only will you get to live in the most amazing country in the world you will have the best support from the team at AI who is dedicated to helping you gain the most useful and relevant work experience.

I cannot thank Australian Internships enough for this extraordinary experience and for being incredible mentors to me the entire time!!! I have absolutely fallen in love with Australia and this will always remain as the best six months of my life!

Why did you pick this program?

Currently I am working in the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. Although I am not planning on pursuing research as a career, the scientific process and troubleshooting that is practiced within the laboratory will provide me with a foundation in medicine while I pursue a career as a medical doctor.

Working in research is extremely complex, yet so rewarding. Everyday I go to work, I am running trials and looking at results of things that NO ONE has ever seen before. Each day is completely different. I have had much success with my project pertaining to scabies disease thus far, and it is truly incredible to say that I have pioneered my way to some of the newest results pertaining to the disease.

What do you wish someone had told you before you went abroad?

To start a blog! I have the best time going back through old pictures and memories of my excursions.

What is the most important thing you learned abroad?

That I haven't seen anything yet. I have merely scraped the surface of the places I wish to go, and I can't wait to embark on so many future adventures.

What was the hardest part about going abroad?

It's so much new! It can be so exciting yet so draining when every single thing in your daily life becomes something unknown. Having to scope out every place you wish to go, even something as simple as getting groceries or mailing a post card can be quite difficult when you don't know a single person or how to get anywhere.

What's your favorite story to tell about your time abroad?

We were in Cairns. I was scuba diving. My scuba instructor showed us every creature from the movie Finding Nemo, from squirt the turtle to nemo (clown fish) himself. I was delighted. He then made the hand gesture for a shark. I looked down and there was this three meter shark chilling below us. Do you know how hard it is to scream with scuba gear on?

What made this experience unique and special?

My mindset has been completely changed. At uni in the States, I am in a rush 100% of the time. I can barely get my thoughts together, let alone listen to those of others. This internship has taught me the value that others' can bring to your life, and how much you can learn from simply having a coffee with someone.

Tell us about an experience you had that you could not have had at home.

I think simply being placed in a location, where I am a day's journey (by plane) from anyone I previously knew and from any place I previously knew is an experience. You have to pioneer your way through each part of your life, which can be tricky but also fun and opportunistic for exploring.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

Medical research IS HARD. For every 19 failures, I get 1 success. But the 19 failures build character, more than the 1 success ever will.

What made this trip meaningful to you, or how did this trip change your perceptions, future path?

I never thought I would be able to navigate so effectively. Not just with directions, but in meeting and getting to know others as well as immersing myself in a new culture.

Name one thing you did on this trip that you will tell your kids about.

In one day, just 24 hours, I jumped from a plane, took a helicopter ride, went scuba diving, almost got eaten by a shark, and found nemo.

What position do you hold at Australian Internships? What has your career path been like so far?

I am Australian Internships' Manager Director. I established the company after many years in education and training with Queensland Government. I started my teaching career in Hervey Bay with a new concept in education that recognized the value of both the academic and technical/vocational development of students. I eventually moved into the role of Director of Business Development where much of the training was developed to respond to industry demands.

I have been actively involved in international education and this served as a catalyst for the establishment of Australian Internships, the first company in Australia to welcome and support students from over 45 countries. I am a founding member of the Australian Internships Industry Association and have been an active member - currently holding the position of Chair of the association. I enjoy meeting young professionals from different countries and seeing the wonderful benefits they receive from the Internship Program.

In 2012, 4 of the top 10 most livable cities in the world were Australian. With one of the most appealing lifestyles in the world and a beautiful physical environment, Australia is a great place to visit and a perfect destination for interring abroad!

What do you see in the future for Australian Internships?

AI's team of dedicated young professionals are forging ahead and will be driving much of our future. I see us continuing with our core business which is arranging internship programs for students and graduates. The training in the workplace remains our major focus and I see us opening new offices and growing staff in various location, building on our capacity to respond to the intern demands. We are taking time to research and listen to industry, and we do have stronger partnerships with our Host Organziations. The future of quality internships relies on our ability to understand what opportunities exist for interns and to define what interns best match the needs of host companies.

In short, our future will see us continuing to provide programs that offer young professionals structured training related to their professions. We will consider and respond to industry feedback to enable us to better respond to the growing competition for industry training.
