One of a kind learning experience

Interning for Think Pacific was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have been really interested in NGOs and the charity sector and wanted to expand my skills and knowledge in this area over the summer. I took part in an 8-week NGO Management internship and completed a women's empowerment action project for the Think Pacific Foundation and loved every minute of it. The team is so enthusiastic and passionate about what they do and sharing their love for Fiji with others. I learned so many valuable skills throughout this internship that will carry me through so many aspects of life. I've got my heart set on going to Fiji now - see you out there TP team!

Meaningful and fulfillling

With Covid-19 and lock down I was worried about how to do something meaningful this summer without putting myself or my family at risk.
The Think Pacific Internship was just the answer. It was the perfect combination of in depth learning about Fijian culture and other relevant topics, such as health and NGO management, and working on a project with a Fijian partner organisation. I learnt so much about Fiji, the partner organisation, and myself. I also gained numerous new skills- while being supported by a fantastic mentor throughout! I would recommend this internship to anyone!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would make sure I didn't miss a single session! I wish I watched some of the funny sessions live!

Virtual Internship

I completed the virtual marketing internship which included researching everything about Fiji and their amazing culture, how marketing would work in the Fijian climate and then ultimately went on to work on an action project for Graduate Women Fiji.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire 8 weeks - Think Pacific held culture sessions, friday fun, chats with mentors and talks by leading professionals! The organisations they partnered with were so great, and I wish I could have chosen multiple different action projects. Would 100% recommend if you have the chance.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
The most unfamiliar thing was purely just having to come up with everything online, doing all the research through my computer screen but still trying to create something as effective as possible!

TP was amazing!

I absolutely loved doing this internship! Given all the uncertainty this summer, and the lack of jobs available, I found this a fantastic was to gain some experience from home. I learnt networking skills, presentation skills and lots about marketing and competitor analysis from the skills series portal. Extremely valuable and so much fun too! I think this will give me a huge amount to talk about In interviews, and I don’t feel I wasted my summer at all. My mentor was also lovely, and always extremely helpful and friendly whenever I asked questions.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Networking with people I’ve never met over zoom calls !

Think Pacific Virtual Internship Experience

I enjoyed every minute of my remote internship, and have learnt so much about the unique culture of Fiji, as well as analysing and researching their healthcare.

The first week was focused around learning about Fiji, eventually building up to the submission of a word report for the Fijian Ministry of Health's Wellness Fiji public health campaign. This was incredibly rewarding, and I hope the suggestions I documented are of use.

Bula to every at Think Pacific, especially the support from my fantastic mentor in the process!

Amazing virtual internship experience!

I learnt so much about Fiji over the last couple of months from incredible experts, Fiji nationals and past TP volunteers. It was a dream to learn about another culture and dive into an action project that will hopefully make a great impact for the small partner organisations with which we worked.
I loved being able to explore so many different internship fields and the wealth of resources about the Fijian culture and relevant skills for our action projects really opened my eyes to a whole range of experiences and opportunities I didn't realise were available to me.
I've feel so inspired and empowered knowing that you can up-skill and make a difference even from being in lock down in your own home. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this virtual internship opportunity and can't wait to visit Fiji myself in the future!

Think Pacific Virtual Internship

This think Pacific virtual internship was an invaluable experience for me! As someone who had wanted to go off travelling this year and eventually work in the NGO sector, working with think pacific provided me with experiences that I believe will benefit me greatly in my future. I learnt so much about the Fijian culture, I was able to design an action project for an amazing organisation in Fiji, I picked up many new skills and most importantly I had fun! Overall I would really recommend this programme to anyone who wants to learn about a really interesting new culture or just pick up some new skills

Think Pacific Virtual Internship

Learnt a lot about international development and Fijian organisations! My action project was to develop an events calendar for Duavata to highlight the various events many of us are organising and support with content creation – posters, social media content, blog articles etc. We had a lot of help from our mentors and connected with other attendees through Facebook group chats. Also, there were a variety of different topics, from NGO management, health, sports, international development, or business.
