Internship in South Korea by Asia Internship Program

This coronavirus definitely did it.
I was having an amazing time in Korea, getting the opportunity to travel around and the explore with my friends and colleagues, and then everything went on lockdown and my parents called me back home. What's definitely frustrating is that for the first time in weeks, I was getting along with my colleagues and was finally showing me around when I was somewhat alone when I first arrived.
I don't think I can say much about AIP other than they've done a great job in terms of keeping me in check and on high alert with the news of the coronavirus and giving me advice on what I have to do next. Though, one thing I would like to thank them for is speaking with the company I was interning with and having them allow me to still connect with them in case I need to complete any incomplete tasks given in my internship.
Other than that, I really wished I completed my internship instead of having to leave early but I will definitely come back to meet all the new friends I've made.

I did my internship in Korea which was a huge cultural shock for me, the food and way of living are so different than in Italy, after some getting used to it, I started to enjoy it more. My company was really cool we went to karaoke with each other every Thursday night which was really fun because I expected the company culture to be stricter and more organized. My house in Seoul was perfect, I had really fun housemates which I traveled a lot with and of course the party. I also met up with other applicants from AIP and we visited a networking event together which was really interesting because I never been to one. A place to go is the Lotte indoor world, which is the biggest indoor theme park, its worth visiting! I would recommend anyone to take on this experience with open arms and enjoy your time to the fullest.

I'm literally blown away at the fact that I did everything I dreamt of doing in South Korea.
I grew up listening and following to KPop ever since I was young with my childhood friends, and to be able to actually set foot in the dreamland was just amazing for me overall.

As to my experience, internship-wise, I couldn't ask for a better place to have done it. My boss and colleagues were very helpful in showing me around and getting me to comfort zone after being out of it for the first few weeks. Some of my colleagues even went as far as to teach me Korean as I had 0 to none what-so-ever on my Korean skills.

As for AIP, the team was very supportive and helpful in getting my placement process done. I must admit, there were a couple of situations that left me afraid such as when I wouldn't be getting frequent replies or basically just being left hanging by the team. I've also been transferred to 3 different AIP staff, which was honestly hectic. Regardless, everything was done in a professional manner, and I can't commend them enough for their hard work and for getting me placed for an internship in Seoul.

Wow! Amazing! Just breathtaking!

I just got back from Korea and my god do I miss everything already. I'm still trying to settle back in and things are just different. First thing I really do miss is the food, I'm craving for it as I'm typing this. After spending 6 months in Seoul, a part of me is already like it. I would have never thought that I would be in this position and being really excited to go back to Korea.

Truth be told, in the beginning, I didn't think I would enjoy this experience at all. The visa process was hectic and confusing and I was nearly late for my flight. I think this is where I can thank AIP. Ever since I got passed on to the community manager, I was also checked on and reminded about the internship I'm about to experience. It basically kept me intact in terms of actually going to another country smoothly. And in the end, everything went as planned.

I already miss my coworkers and friends in Seoul, they were a great bunch of peeps and made me feel safe when I thought I'd be all alone. I'm happy even though I'm back in the US, they still keep in touch with me, which is really sweet of them.

I'm definitely making my next year's summer plan involve South Korea when I'm heading to Asia with my family. 10/10!

I'm about to leave Seoul and I'm seriously going to miss every little adventure I had in this country with my friends, coworkers, and family.

Ever since I was little, it was always my dream to visit South Korea because of how beautiful the country was. Lucky for me, I had some of my childhood friends move out to Seoul which meant that they knew the ins and outs of the city which made my life so much easier. Workwise, my coworkers were so friendly. They taught me everything I needed to know and guided me through all the problems I had.

I would like to also commend AIP for making my life easy as well. I didn't want to op for the standard package at first because of its price but then I felt like I wanted to experience being comfortable, and boy I was not disappointed. The people at AIP made me feel comfortable and always checked up on me just to make sure everything was okay, which was honestly very appreciative of them since my first week in South Korea was really quiet and lonely.

Anyways, Seoul has my heart now and I will definitely come back.

There are no words to accurately describe how amazing and beautiful was my internship in South Korea with AIP. I am extremely grateful to this organization for assisting and arranging the overall process. Of course, the price might be expensive at first glance, however, it definitely worth the service they provided. Everything from the application until the end of the internship was really good. In total, I’ve been in touch with 3 people from AIP during the overall process and all of them were very responsive and answered all my questions transparently and clear. The only issue occurred was the pick up from the airport since my flight got delayed and I had no chance to inform them about the new arrival time. The problem has been resolved and the community manager arranged a new car to pick me up. The accommodation was in excellent area, with a lot of shopping malls around and walking distance to public transportation. The hosting company was very welcoming and warm. My supervisor always had time to answer my questions and provided me with proper guidance especially at the beginning when I felt a bit lost since that was my first work experience ever. The first experience as we all can imagine is really out of the comfort zone even if you “think” you are ready. There are no such things as sitting and listen in the companies. The work environment expected me to be active and cooperate with the team while doing some tasks completely on my own as well. I would definitely highly recommend going with AIP if you would like to do an internship in South Korea. On top of that, I’ve met my new friends who turn out to be from my city as well.

I would highly recommend looking for alternative options for those considering AIP. While the communication of the staff was prompt and diligent I found the program lacking elsewhere, mainly in terms of the experience I was able to yield in my internship.

I understand my situation may have been an anomaly however I am i am still weary towards the precautions that AIP take in guaranteeing a fruitful internship program. I was particularly interested in broadening my marketing and copywriting insight however upon arriving at my internship my supervisor had now knowledge in this field and was also verbally abusive commenting on my appearance a number of times. In addition to this, I faced a number of visa programs upon entering the program. The person whom I was in contact with also mentioned that the business development team are making effort to mitigate issues like this in future - a huge disappointment considering the high lump sum AIP that calls for with minimal effort into dissecting and investigating the logistics of the company and the HR that underpins it all. For me, I was sat at a desk 9 hours a day with no assistance from my supervisor who would later asked me where the work I was never appointed was. Hardly the rewarding and experienced packed internship I was anticipating.

The company i interned for also told me they would be changing locations 2 days before my arrival into the country, after i signed a 6 month lease for an accomodation that would turn out to be an hour commute further away from my contracted location! I was also given incorrect information for the visa I should come into the country with and faced further issues at immigration.

I do encourage all candidates to look for alternative options. I was quite fortunate in that I had a decent amount of work experience prior to this internship and was able to attain a paid job at a media company after leaving my AIP internship and had a number of friends oversea who were able to help me over this time.
