Seoul in my Soul: the best time of my life!

My internship in Seoul with Absolute Internship was truly unforgettable. Spending the entire month of June immersed in the business industry was an incredible experience. I was able to form connections that I never could have made on my own, and the support from the program made all the difference.

One of the best things that makes Absolute Internship different from others is their network of internship providers, and the extensive knowledge that they provide before, during, and after the program.

I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to grow both professionally and personally.

Six Weeks Interning in Korea with Absolute Internship!

The time I spent living and working this summer in Korea changed my outlook on my studies and what I want to do after graduating. It gave me the context I needed for the work I enjoy and how I want to spend my time wherever I end up living! My program assistants were super helpful in navigating Seoul, and helped me and my friends with finding pharmacies and medical services when we needed them. My internship placement was a little crazy, but I learned a lot from the chaos and working with so many people! Overall, I had a great time, and appreciate the support in my experience abroad!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Spend time making new friends, but also make sure to explore your program’s city alone! It is so nice to be living and working in a new place, and some of my best memories in Seoul come from navigating new museums, cafes, and corners of the city on my own. Stumble into new favorite spots, take in everything, romanticize your life!
Pros
  • Affordable cost of living
  • Food
  • Walkability/Good public transportation

Time of My Life

This trip has truly been life changing. I met some of the most amazing people through this program, and I couldn't have asked for a better internship placement. I was placed in Seoul's financial district, which was an incredible location, and my housing at Western Co-op in Dongdaemun ended up being the perfect area to live. Everything was so convenient, and it made exploring the city so easy.

Seoul has so much to offer. The culture, the food, the incredible sights, and all of the unforgettable experiences have made this one of the best times of my life. Leaving is going to be so difficult.

If you're thinking about doing this program, book the trip and don't look back. It's an experience you'll never regret.

I'm even in the process of working toward a return offer with the company I interned for, which is something I was hoping for!! I'm so grateful for everything this experience has led to.

Some of my favorite memories include getting front row at Waterbomb with my amazing roommate, hiking Bukhansan, the highest peak in Seoul, getting on stage at a small rave festival in Gyeongju and having a dance battle with locals, taking a trip to Jeju with 14 friends from the program and staying together in an Airbnb, celebrating the Fourth of July on Haeundae Beach in Busan, and making countless memories exploring Seoul's incredible nightlife.

This program gave me amazing friends, unforgettable experiences, and opportunities that have genuinely changed the direction of my life. I'm going to miss Seoul more than I can put into words, and I already can't wait to come back. Thank you, Absolute Internship, for giving me an experience I'll never forget.

What would you improve about this program?
One thing I would consider changing is making weekend trips to places like Busan and Jeju a regular part of the program. Those ended up being some of my favorite memories, and I think having them organized as optional weekend trips would make it even easier for interns to experience more of South Korea while building friendships with everyone on the program.
Pros
  • Seoul's nightlife is incredible. There's always something to do, whether you're into live music, clubs, rooftop bars, cafes, or late night food.
  • Location. There is never a shortage of things to do in South Korea. Every weekend brought a new adventure, whether it was exploring a new neighborhood, taking a trip to another city, or trying amazing food.
  • The Program Coordinators were amazing. They were so genuine, kind, and understanding, and you could ask them absolutely anything, from travel recommendations and restaurant suggestions to advice about living in Seoul

Summer to Never Forget

It was an amazing summer and program. It was a great time and the placement was fantastic. Housing was amazing and the cultural activities were unforgettable. I remember being greeted by the program advisors, and they made the transition to a foreign country seamless. Furthermore, they helped us adapt to the country, feel comfortable with our placement, and navigate the city with a dominant foreign language. I had so much fun and met so many great friends who were also participating in the program.

Amazing Internship in Seoul

I was dreaming about going to South Korea for a while now, but it seemed very out of reach. I found about Absolute Internship at the abroad opportunities fair at my univeristy and i am extremely happy about it! They helped with EVERYTHING! They looked for the company and helped with CV preparation and interviews. They answered all the questions and replied in a timely manner. A huge plus was that they found a place to stay (modern apartament in central Seoul with just a perfect location!). Also the transportation cards were included, which was super helpful as well. There were trips and activities when you arrrive and there are people from Absolute the city making sure everything works fine for you, who you can easily reach out to for the support. The program gives you this feeling of independence, because you are there working on your own, at the same time there are other interns that you meet and do stuff together as well, which helps you create that feeling of belongingness. Why 4 not 5 stars? The internship is kinda pricey, if your university does not fully sponsor you. I know that it costs a lot to hire everyone to help with the process but still ;) Nevertheless it is worth it to try and go intern abroad!

Internship in Korea

I really loved my experience in Korea! Not only was I able to work for a wonderful company, but I was also able to grow both professionally and personally. The program offered many wonderful trips where we got to know everyone in the program and we also got the chance to explore Korea. I made wonderful friends while in Korea and I am very grateful that I got to go to a country I had longed to go to for a long time! I was able to learn about a different culture and I really loved it. I think that traveling to Korea made me realize how different a place can be.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would say that at first it is scary to go to a totally different country, however, the best moments and memories that you will remember are the ones you make while being there, so being afraid is good, but also having the courage to explore by yourself just a little bit can lead you to so many great things. You can explore many different places and experience many new things all you have to do is take a chance and have courage. I guarantee that you will grow both professionally and personally.

I Love Korea

The smooth process of finding an internship, the amazing location, amazing staff to lead us in the new setting, and literally everything in Korea. Providing us with transportation cards and calculating the costs to travel to work was a huge plus. The small programs that are a part as a package to explore broader parts of Seoul were also very beneficial and amazing opportunities. Having the safety of being in this program and also having the freedom to explore on our own was so much fun and was able to create so many core memories.

What was your funniest moment?
My friend running into the subway doors.
Pros
  • Learning about Korean culture.
  • Being able to improve in my Korean speaking skills.
  • Being able to meet so many new people and making new friends.
What other participants should know
  • Difficulty in public transportation, at first.
