Absolute Internship was an amazing experience!

Absolute Internship was such a great experience, I cannot recommend it enough! I spent 4 weeks in Stockholm, Sweden in June 2026 and wish I had stayed longer! The programme was so well organised with orientation, making me feel really comfortable in the country before I started work. They sorted everything from accommodation to metro cards and the programme coordinators were available 24/7 over text whenever you had a question. My internship was really well suited to me and I learnt so much. I loved my time in Sweden so much and I wish I could go back!

Internship in Barcelona

My time on Absolute has been truly transformative! From meeting peers from multiple cultures and backgrounds, to immersing myself into the Spanish culture and work-life balance, I couldn't recommend the opportunity to other young people any more! My placement company also perfectly aligned with my aspirations, and allowed me to develop a new international skill set around communication, responsibility, and independence; particularly working a hybrid role (and trying so many amazing coworking cafes across the city!). The ongoing support from staff also really ensured we all felt settled in and ready, both before and during our time here (shoutout to Claudia and Gio!). Barcelona is an amazing city, and my time with Absolute was incredibly rewarding.

Completely Out of My Comfort Zone (in the Best Way Possible)

Taking part in an overseas internship in Barcelona was completely out of my comfort zone, but in the best way possible. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my degree and gave me so much more than just professional experience. My placement at Bach Legal was the highlight. The office environment was welcoming and much less formal than I expected, which made it easy to ask questions and learn. I gained practical legal skills while also building confidence in taking on new challenges and asking for help when needed. Absolute Internship made the whole process straightforward. From pre-departure check-ins to ongoing support throughout the program, I always felt looked after. They organised accommodation, provided a clear schedule of activities, and kept everyone updated, making the transition to living overseas much less stressful. I also enjoyed meeting people from around the world through the program. Outside of work, I loved immersing myself in a new culture. One moment I'll never forget was seeing the inside of the Sagrada Família during a guided tour—it was absolutely breathtaking. This experience made me more independent, adaptable and confident, and showed me how many opportunities can come from stepping outside your comfort zone. If you're considering applying but feel nervous, I'd say go for it. You'll have support every step of the way, and you'll learn so much about yourself in the process.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-racking part of the experience was travelling overseas by myself for the first time. It definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone, but I overcame it by staying organised, planning ahead and trusting my ability to figure things out as I went. Once I arrived, I quickly realised I wasn't alone—there was plenty of support from Absolute Internship and the other participants. By the end of the program, I felt far more confident, independent and willing to take on new challenges.
Pros
  • Excellent support before and throughout the program
  • Welcoming environment with hands-on experience
  • Great opportunity to experience a new culture and meet new people
Cons
  • Networking events can be a little bit chaotic/overwhelming
  • The idea of being overseas for so long can be daunting at first
  • The experience goes by very quickly

Intern Abroad in Stockholm!

Stockholm is a beautiful place to spend the summer, and I've experienced a multitude of personal and professional development, both in and out of the workplace. I've been able to hone in on what I really want to pursue as a career, grow those skills, and meet the most amazing people while I'm at it! The program coordinators were so wonderful and supportive throughout the entire journey, my boss was incredibly welcoming, and the other students in the program created some of the strongest friendships I've ever experienced.

Absolute Internship in Madrid

I joined Absolute Internship in the summer of 2025 for a 4-week internship in Madrid, Spain, and by the time the program ended, my only regret was not signing up for the full 8 weeks!
My experience in Madrid was truly unforgettable and helped me grow both professionally and personally. Through my internship, I gained valuable hands-on experience while also building meaningful friendships with students from all over the world. Living abroad allowed me to expand my international network, immerse myself in Spanish culture, and significantly improve my Spanish language skills.
One of the things that stood out the most was the incredible support provided by the Absolute Internship team. From the onboarding process to the on-site assistance throughout the program, everything was well organized. The Program Coordinators made every student feel welcome from day one and fostered a genuine sense of community through social events, cultural activities, and weekend trips that made the experience even more memorable.

I highly recommend Absolute Internship to anyone looking for an international experience that combines professional development, cultural immersion, and lifelong friendships. If you're eager to strengthen your resume, gain global work experience, and become part of an amazing international community, this program is absolutely worth it!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
It's called "Gazpacho", a traditional Spanish cold soup made primarily from blended ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, onions, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and bread. It's refreshing, light, and typically served chilled, making it especially popular during the summer months.
Pros
  • This experience allows you to visit a foreign country.
  • Interning abroad really boosts your resume and makes you a stronger candidate for future jobs.
  • The onsite support provided by Absolute creates your"home away from home".

Incredibly rewarding experience

This was an incredibly rewarding experience overall. I was able to build meaningful connections in both my professional and personal life, which made my time abroad even more valuable and memorable. It also gave me the opportunity to apply what I had been studying in a completely new and unfamiliar environment, helping me grow both academically and professionally. I gained confidence in my abilities and developed new skills that I know will benefit me in the future. This kind of hands-on experience has become more difficult to find in my city, where opportunities in my industry have recently become more limited, making this experience even more impactful.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
One of the most unique foods I tried in Sweden was herring. I was a bit hesitant at first, especially since it was fish served from a jar, but it turned out to be absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed it when paired with traditional sides like boiled potatoes, eggs, rye bread, and pickles, which really brought out the flavors.
Pros
  • Work-life Balance
  • Innovative Environment
  • Cultural Experience
Cons
  • High cost of living
  • Adjustment Period
  • Sunlight adjustment (later became a pro)

Good internship and city but everything else was bad

Overall, the internship placement was very good, but the on-site program coordinators were terrible. The internship was in my area of study and provided a alot of professional growth, but the included trips left a alot to be desired. We were put in a hostel during one of our trips and were constantly nagged by the program coordinators if any of us broke a rule, even by one inch. We were constantly shouted at, and it created a tough environment. There was one coordinator who was respectful the whole time, but the others had an obviously poor attitude and should not be leading us, as it was most of our first time in Japan.

Overall, the program coordinator's attitude had a poor reflection of Absolute Internship and created a tense, zero-tolerance environment throughout the duration of the program. To Absolute Internship, hire coordinators with a good attitude. The crazy part is that there are very few negative reviews. I would advise using Absolute Internship only to be placed in an internship and do everything else on your own.

Response from Absolute Internship

Hi William,

Thanks for taking the time to share these extra details. It’s wonderful to hear that the internship itself was a great fit for your studies and helped you grow professionally, that’s exactly what we aim for.

However, we’re sorry to hear that the environment outside of work felt so tense for you. Navigating Japan for the first time is a huge milestone, and we always want our students to feel supported, not stressed. While our coordinators do have to look out for the group's safety and follow local guidelines, it is never our intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable. We're glad to hear one of our team members stood out positively, but we always want communication to be respectful across the board.

We also appreciate your feedback regarding the hostel and the group trips. We want our travel experiences to be a fun, cultural break from work, so we are passing your notes about the accommodations and the team's approach straight to our program managers for internal review.

Thank you again for being upfront with us, and we wish you all the best with your career.

Amazing Experience

I absolutely loved my time in Spain. I was able to create lifelong relationships by experiencing this new culture with my fellow interns while simultaneously gaining work experience. It truly opened my eyes to the world and helped shape me as a professional and as a person. I would and have recommended it to a friend. It was life-defining and was one of the best times of my life. I truly believe everyone must take on an experience like this. Everyone must go abroad and immerse themselves in the culture.

What was your funniest moment?
My funnest experience was exploring the city with my follow interns, getting lost together, adapting to a new culture, and just living!
Pros
  • Guided tours

Life Changing 🌍✈️

My internship experience in Madrid through Absolute Internship was nothing short of life-changing and exceeded all my expectations. Professionally, my placement with a dynamic local company gave me real, hands-on responsibilities from day one. I was able to apply my academic knowledge to real-world projects, honing crucial skills in communication, problem-solving, and cross-cultural collaboration that I know will be invaluable for my future career.

Beyond the work itself, living in Madrid was an incredible adventure. The city is so vibrant, and the program's organized activities made it easy to connect with a community of fellow interns and fully immerse myself in the local culture. Exploring the city's rich history, enjoying the amazing food, and navigating a new environment built my confidence in a way I never anticipated.

What truly sets Absolute Internship apart is its incredible support system. From the pre-departure guidance to the on-the-ground assistance in Madrid, the team was always available, professional, and genuinely invested in our well-being. They made what could have been a daunting experience feel seamless and secure. This program provided the perfect blend of professional development and personal growth. I can't recommend it enough to anyone who wants to take their career and life to the next level through an international experience.

Singapore Internship Review

Singapore with Absolute Internship was a truly life-changing experience. The housing was incredible—fantastic building and amenities all on top of a mall! The convenience was unbelievable, and it was possible to get to most places in Singapore from the residence without stepping outside. The internship itself was so rewarding and developmental. My company balanced my work so well, ensuring I got all the relevant experience I could want while giving me plenty of time to explore Singapore. Absolute's team's communication was fantastic as well. At one point, I felt underutilized at my internship, so I reached out to see what I could do. Within a week, they had communicated with my bosses, and I was getting put onto more tasks, more leadership in my internship, and everything was incredibly useful and fruitful after that. The helpfulness of the staff, the facilities and resources Absolute offered, not to mention the amazing weekend trips and the experience of my internship, made me 100% confident that my decision was right—that Absolute Internship is truly the best abroad internship program out there.
