Fun and rewarding

Embarking on an overseas internship program is a leap into the unknown, a journey that promises growth, challenges, and the opportunity to step out of one’s comfort zone. My recent experience with such a program was nothing short of extraordinary, and it is with great enthusiasm that I share my reflections on this transformative adventure.
From the outset, the warmth and professionalism of the staff were evident. They were not just facilitators of our daily schedule; they were mentors, confidants, and, most importantly, friends. Their approachability and readiness to assist with any concern made the transition into a foreign environment seamless and stress-free. Whether it was navigating the nuances of local etiquette or offering advice on professional matters, their expertise was invaluable.
The program’s structure was a thoughtful blend of educational and experiential learning. The cultural workshops served as a window into the heart of the host country’s heritage. Through interactive sessions, we delved into the intricacies of traditional customs, food, and art, gaining a profound respect and understanding of the cultural tapestry that makes the region unique.
Parallel to these cultural deep-dives were the career seminars. These forums were a goldmine of insights, equipping us with tools and strategies to excel in our respective fields.
But an internship abroad is more than just work and learning; it is also about experiencing the joys of new places and creating memories that last a lifetime. The visit to Paris Disneyland was a day where the magic of childhood fantasies came to life. The laughter, the thrills, and the sheer delight of being in one of the world’s most beloved theme parks was a welcome respite from our busy schedules.
The weekend tour to Strasbourg was another highlight. This picturesque city, with its blend of French and German influences, was a revelation. Strolling through its charming streets, admiring the historic architecture, and savoring the local cuisine was a cultural immersion like no other. It was a reminder that travel is as much about the places we see as it is about the people we meet and the experiences we share.
In conclusion, this overseas internship was an unparalleled experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking personal and professional enrichment. It was a journey that challenged me, inspired me, and ultimately, transformed me. The memories I’ve made, the skills I’ve acquired, and the friendships I’ve forged are treasures that I will carry with me long into the future.

10/10 Study abroad experience

I studied abroad with absolute internship in the spring of my junior year in Barcelona, and it was the best decision ever! My time in Spain contributed to a lot of self growth, as it was my first time being on my own in a foreign country for an extended amount of time. I’m so thankful for the Absolute team (shoutout Aurore, my lovely program coordinator) for helping me through all the ups and downs I had, and supporting me through one of the best and most transformational experiences of my life!

What was your funniest moment?
All the giggles I had with the friends I made in my internship cohort — from beach days to metro rides and rooftop sunsets, we always seemed to be laughing and enjoying every moment to the fullest

Experience was great! Very fun activities and even better program leaders! I loved spending time together and they also respected our privacy and importance of our jobs. Very global experience where I got to see a lot of the entire country of France as well as become very familiar with different aspects of Paris. The job I had was amazing and I never felt like I was alone or lost or in trouble because of this program. I would tell anyone that is looking for international experience to try absolute internship 100%.

Paris '22 Internship

An ABSOLUTEly brilliant experience! The intership offered the right balance of working abroad, culture and fun, group bonding activities. I've met so many lifelong friends from all over the world which made the experience truly unforgettable with many "remember when in Paris..." conversations. Our internship coordinator, Aurora, was brilliant - always there to support and recommended all the hidden gems of Paris! The firm I was matched with for my internship was such a great fit as well, and has really opened up another world for me in terms of working culture and all the other customers. Would love to go back and experience it all over, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking about interning abroad!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would recommend exploring the city as much as you can! Paris is such a beautiful city with loads of culture - I would definitely recommend exploring the hidden gems whether that'd be restaurants, bars, museums and parks whenever you can, especially after you finish placement during the week. I made many of my unforgettable memories on spontaneous evenings out and about, especially with the weekend trips to other towns with Absolute!
Pros
  • Learn a lot about the working culture a customs
  • Independence - the program allowed me to be independent and explore the adulthood realm, with plenty of support around when needed
  • Organised trips to explore other parts of France, so you're not always in one place (even if there's loads of explore in Paris itself)
Cons
  • A month went by too quickly - there's loads to get done / see so going for 1+ months would've been more suited but of course, there's choice on the length of the programme!

Amazing

I always knew I wanted to study abroad in Paris and absolute internship gave me the best avenue to do that!! I learned so much and gained valuable cultural experiences. I also go to make some pretty awesome friends along the way. It is something that I will always remember and cherish. My leaders were very insightful and always down to have a good time with us while remaining respectful and still our leaders. They really taught us about where we were and why certain cultural events were occurring. It was the best experience ever!

Great Resume Builder

Interning abroad has opened so many doors for me. My experience comes up often in interviews and helps me stand out when applying for jobs and graduate school programs. I pushed myself outside my comfort zone and gained valuable life and professional experience through doing so. I learned what I want out of a career and was able to use this experience to guide me in the right direction. I also was able to make great memories and friendships with other students on the program. Overall, it was an amazing summer!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I think I would try to connect more on a personal level with my colleagues. I was so nervous in the office since it was my first real internship and was even more nervous because it was overseas. I did the work without getting to really know those I was working with, so I would try to relax more and open up.
Pros
  • Great accommodations
  • Fun activities
Cons
  • Not a great location for certain food allergies

This opportunity is one you should not miss out on! From the beginning, Absolute Internship were so supportive and helpful in finding and securing a placement for you. Once in Lisbon, I did not want to leave! I met so many new friends, built connections in the workplace and gained invaluable experience. Absolute were always there if you needed support or just wanted a chat; they helped create such amazing memories that I will remember forever. I could not be happier that I decided to do this internship!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I could go back, I would do even more than I did the first time. I would fit as many activities in as I could and see as many places as I could.
Pros
  • Brilliant opportunity
  • Great way to make friends
  • Something different
Cons
  • Can be a little nerve-wracking doing an internship in another country

My internship in Barcelona

The internship abroad that I completed with Absolute was a very enriching experience. I applied for the programme in Barcelona and I did my internship with a company working in the luxury event management. The program coordinator followed me through the whole prep phase before departing, during the experience and even after my return home I’m still in contact with some of them! Excellent people and the events organized were very fun and enriching, since they did some seminars focused on the job world. Some day trips and a two night trip to Carcassonne were organised and they were planned in every detail.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I’ve had the opportunity to take some visits on my own to michelin star restaurants for my internship and it was amazing
Pros
  • Programme coordinators are in situ
  • Activities planned
  • Possibility to do a “short” internship
Cons
  • The cost is high
  • Our residence was very beautiful but far from the other groups

Great Organization of Trips and Internship

I couldn't recommend a program like this to anyone more. Absolute was able to find me an amazing internship with a company that reflected the career path I was looking for which not only looked great on my resume, but gave me a great experience. The program calendar is a bit more organized than most other study abroad programs which allowed me to get closer with other people in the program and fully enjoy the most of Portugal with a native coordinator. You 100% get your money's worth with great housing and included trips and dinners.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
We did an organized group dinner which was a tasting at a unique restaurant. I tried octopus and a creme brulee based on sardine fat. It was a super interesting and fun experience to do with people in the program,
Pros
  • Organized Trips
  • Guaranteed Internship
  • Modern Individual Housing
Cons
  • Slightly outside of city centre
