Life Changing Experience

During my study abroad program in Japan, I had an incredible opportunity to dive deep into the culture and language. I also explored various cities, from the bustling streets of Tokyo to the historic temples of Kyoto. I participated in local events and tried traditional Japanese foods, which allowed me to understand and appreciate the nuances of Japanese life. I made life-long friends with the program students and engaged in numerous cultural exchanges that greatly enhanced my experience. Overall, my time in Japan was a remarkable journey of learning and personal growth.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Seeing japanese culture and being in awe. You always hear so much about it. But seeing it in real life is different. They were the nicest and most organized people I ever met and they have such a respect for rules that I never saw before. Seeing the shrines and their culture was really a privilege and I am so happy I got the opportunity to do so.
Pros
  • Culture
  • Make friends
  • Amazing food
Cons
  • Hot weather in japan
  • accommodation was a bit small but that is expected of japan
  • You have to pay extra if you do not want a roommate

I Love Korea

The smooth process of finding an internship, the amazing location, amazing staff to lead us in the new setting, and literally everything in Korea. Providing us with transportation cards and calculating the costs to travel to work was a huge plus. The small programs that are a part as a package to explore broader parts of Seoul were also very beneficial and amazing opportunities. Having the safety of being in this program and also having the freedom to explore on our own was so much fun and was able to create so many core memories.

What was your funniest moment?
My friend running into the subway doors.
Pros
  • Learning about Korean culture.
  • Being able to improve in my Korean speaking skills.
  • Being able to meet so many new people and making new friends.
Cons
  • Difficulty in public transportation, at first.

Very helpful, well-organized, fulfilling, and of course fun

Very helpful, well-organized, fulfilling, and of course fun program that paired me up with a great company that matched my interests and helped me develop useful skills and knowledge in the field. I was very happy with the company I was placed in and I think Absolute Internship did a good job hearing me out about what I wanted out of the program and was able to find a company to help meet those interests. I had no complaints about our accommodations or where they were located and the staff on site were very kind and supportive and were always available to talk or help if needed.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If possible, study basic Japanese or even better develop fluency or semi-fluency to get around to places you may not otherwise have without knowing the language, plus you will be able to converse with the locals more
Pros
  • In Tokyo where there is a lot to do
  • If internship is hybrid or remote, it gives you more time to go out and explore
  • Very friendly and helpful coordinators there for whenever you need them
Cons
  • Communication about upcoming events/opportunities should be announced further in advance
  • Have to figure out how to get back to the airport on your own (no complimentary shuttle/limo offered)
  • Wish more money was provided for transportation

Absolute Internship Seoul Experience

It was the combination of travel and professional development that made this internship so fulfilling. I was able to bond with my cohort through our amazing trips and the experiences I had interning with my company has allowed me to gain new skills across multiple fronts. Although I was not able to get the initial industry I wanted, I was still able to learn and develop professionally in my role at the company I was placed with, learning about cross cultural communication and strategic planning. We visited popular cultural and historical sites such as Jeonju and Seoraksan that demonstrated the depth and diversity of Korean culture. They had a team of on site coordinators dedicated to making the internship experience better throughout the time the students were there, providing support the entire way. All around an amazingly curated trip!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would most definitely challenge myself to become more comfortable with being uncomfortable way earlier in my trip. At first, I was nervous to explore Seoul on my own because I was afraid to go by myself when in reality the city is so traveler friendly that it almost felt unnecessary once I did it for the first time! Also I would definitely plan out where I wanted to visit much earlier so I could do everything I wanted.

Time of my Life!

I had an incredible experience with the Absolute Internship program, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to gain valuable international work experience while immersing themselves in a new culture.

From the start, Absolute Internship provided a well-organized and supportive environment. The program’s seamless integration of internships with cultural immersion ensured that I gained practical skills and broadened my horizons simultaneously. My placement was perfectly aligned with my career interests, allowing me to contribute meaningfully while also developing a deep understanding of my field.

One of the standout aspects of the program was the emphasis on personal and professional growth. The support from mentors and program coordinators was exceptional; they were always available to offer guidance and feedback. Additionally, the opportunity to engage in various social and cultural activities, such as city tours and networking events, enriched my experience and helped me build lasting friendships with fellow interns from around the world.

Living and working abroad through Absolute Internship not only enhanced my professional skills but also improved my adaptability and global perspective. If you’re seeking an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while exploring a new part of the world, this program is an excellent choice.

Absolute gave me the start that I needed!

After applying to hundreds of internships over 8 months during my high credit load semesters, I was starting to lose hope that I would find an internship for this summer. I haven’t had any previous industry experience, so I was feeling pretty unlucky during my job search. One of my friends recommended Absolute internships to me, and after reaching out to them, I had a position within five days (interviewed, contracts signed, the whole nine)!

The internship was very cheap and matched me with a company that was just right for my situation. Even though there was just a week before the internship cycle began, they still matched me with a great company.

I recommend this company to anyone looking for a simple, quick, and quality internship experience. Loved them!

I highly recommend!

I had a great experience with Absolute Internship! You get what you pay for. My program coordinators, Marta and Tuti, were so helpful and nice throughout the whole process. We took fun weekend trips. I would be specific when they ask what kind of internship you want. I learned real world skills and have many connections now. I am happy I choose this program because it was better than the other ones I looked at. They were organized and I felt safe the entire time. This program is real, and worth it!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
When going through the internship placement process, tell them exactly what you are looking for/want. What you say is a big factor of your internship placement.
Pros
  • Networking
  • Friendships
  • Professional Skills
Cons
  • Communication before going on the program

Amazing internship experience in Barcelona

I absolutely loved the setting and responsibilities of my internship. Absolute Internship's placement allowed me to intern for a sustainability organization (which I want to study in college), largely in Spanish and supervised directly by the founder. This experience was incredible in helping me achieve my gap year goals, and I also met a wonderful international group of peers. Although I really enjoyed the experience of living in Barcelona university housing, my one complaint about the program is that our particular dorm was in a bad location in the city and didn't have good food.

Time in Madrid

Madrid was such a great place to study. Madrid is very big so there's a lot of different things to do. From parks, great food, people, fun clubs, and things to see. I had my own room with a gym in the basement, so I really coudnt have asked for better housing. I also was able to travel around Spain alot, for fairly cheap. Overall unforgettable trip

The places I would recommend are Tiki Taco, the Reina Sofía, El Retiro Park, a tour of Real Madrid stadium, Wow Hall, Icon, El Capital, Divorare sandwiches, any rooftop bar, brutal bar, and Tierra Burrito Bar.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would walk to more places. The buses and metro are very accessible to I would often take one of them because of the ease of it. However later in my trip I decided to walk to more places and I got to see and understand the city and cool things much more
Pros
  • So many good and cheap food places
  • Cheap alcohol
  • Real Madrid is the best soccer team ever
Cons
  • Really hot in the summer
  • Spanish people have very little care for personal space
