Life-Changing Experience

The program I was part of was for first-semester freshman, and I can't lie, it was extremely nerve-racking at first going from high school into spending 4 months in a new country, but once I was settled in and realized that I was in a new place with discoveries to be made every day, I did just fine.
London was quite possibly the most fun I have had in my whole life, and not only was it fun, but it was also extremely eye-opening and instructive. The classes I took were all great, and I learned a ton of things that I likely would not have learned back home, but there is also just a lot to learn about life when you are experiencing something like this. You learn how to be more independent, more adaptive, and more willing to experience new things.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take complete advantage of this opportunity!!
You are in a new country where nobody knows you, so you can kind of even see it as a fresh start. Go out, make connections, see all the sights, go to events, wake up early, stay out late, have fun!
(of course you should focus on your academics, but also just let go a little)
If it's feasible for you and you have the chance, travel elsewhere too! England has a great transit system to not only other parts of the country, but to other countries as well.
Pros
  • So much to do and see
  • Solid Transportation
  • You're a legal adult...

Cheers to a great semester!

I had a great time in London studying with CEA CAPA! It definitely changed my life in the best of ways. The staff was helpful and accommodating and the professors were truly amazing in their own respective fields but also as teachers. I enjoyed living in Kentish town, London, getting to see how locals lived their lives and interacting with others. A highlight was the great Camden market being just down the road! The daily commute to class was something I personally enjoyed, aside from the times it can unexpectedly take longer its a great time to read and maybe get some work done.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Not trying London's Indian food earlier! There are so many great spots like Borough Market.
Pros
  • Good access to public transportation
  • Very Centralized in London
  • So many Activities
Cons
  • Schedule Conflicts

CEA CAPA London

I went abroad my first semester ever of university and I loved my experience. CEA CAPA was so supportive of me and the other students in my group. The staff planned lots of fun and free activities for students and there was always something to do. I was able to go to multiple West End shows free of charge that were planned by CEA CAPA.

The housing was great, and although it was a bit of a commute it made students feel like real Londoners. Teachers took students on multiple field trips and activities throughout London, showing students insider spots that they may have not seen otherwise. I was able to check out a lot more areas than I would have been able to do on my own. I truly can not recommend studying abroad with CEA CAPA enough.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you do study abroad with CEA CAPA, make sure to get involved in the community in some way. There are so many great things the staff plans for you to get involved in the community and it also gives you more of a college campus feel by getting to know fellow students and staff.

Fantastic Experience!

My experience with CEA CAPA was amazing!! The courses were specific to the British experience and I was able to broaden my global perspective. The field studies, day trips, and activities were great additions and allowed me to acclimate to the city. Faculty and staff at CEA CAPA were extremely helpful and understanding when asked questions about courses, the city, and more. The professors facilitated great class discussions and the small class sizes allowed for everyone's opinions to be shared.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I was able to go to the Tim Burton Exhibition at the Design Museum with my film class!

My cup of tea: How London truly changed me for the better

As a nervous freshman in college studying abroad seemed far-fetched to say the least; however, London was nothing but transformative and eye-opening. The CEA CAPA program helped me immerse myself in numerous ways. For example, visiting Stonehenge & Bath; catching shows on the West End; and having English tea. In terms of academics, CAPA was in constant communication and emphasized community. All of my professors encouraged me to share my thoughts, challenge old beliefs, and create new ideas which spoke volumes to the atmosphere CAPA harbored. London was such a beautiful experience and the housing was a plus too--doubles with a kitchen and a bathroom! London is definitely worth the trip and CEA CAPA makes the journey unforgettable.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
To any future travelers on this program, my biggest piece of advice is to do everything! Even if it seems childish or unusual try new things. For example, go to a pottery class or join a salsa dancing class. Once I truly let go and let myself enjoy the little things I found small pockets of happiness.
Pros
  • sponsored events (Stonehenge & Bath; West End Shows; Pottery Nights)
  • wide network
  • LinkedIn workshops
Cons
  • commute to class

A good experience

I enjoyed my time abroad with CEA CAPA because they made the experience worry free. They provided comfortable housing accommodations and gave us transportation cards allowing us to move around the city with ease. I also really enjoyed the day trips they organized for us to go on and get out of the city. In the classroom I really enjoyed all the field studies we got to go on for a more hands on approach to learning, these trips to me to places that I would have likely never have gone to otherwise.

London with CEA!

My experience with CEA was awesome! I felt super supported the entire time I was in London, from our first afternoon tea on arrival day, to the mid-semester check in, to the final goodbye in at a local cafe. CEA CAPA made London feel a little more homey and a little more comfortable. They were always responsive when I had a question, and they continued to be even when I was out of London. Abroad can be scary, and it is nice to have a taste of home while you are there. I would definitely recommend studying abroad with CEA, I would do it again with so many more countries!

CEA CAPA London Study abroad review

Honestly I loved the staff. I'll admit the crew responsible for answering questions before we went abroad were a bit shaky at times but overall they were solid. However the staff in london was absolutely incredible! They helped set up extra events for us, for instance they helped set up a bonus event in the london dungeon. Essentially, a haunted house event about a bit of history and urban legends. When we first arrived they helped guide us through the city and get acclimated in the next few days, all in all they were just amazing. I highly recommend.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Jellied eels, they were ... an experience. I finished mine but let me say I think it should be a requirement that everyone tries them cause it is a damn experience.
Pros
  • Social skills growth
  • New experiences and visiting new places
  • Met new fun people
