CEA CAPA Education Abroad in London, England

The CEA CAPA London Education program was life-changing! I learned so much about English culture: common slang, social cues, food, clothing, and more, but most importantly, I discovered a lot about myself. I gained new interests like renaissance and landscape oil paintings from browsing the National Portrait Gallery. I realized I enjoy spontaneity if I am well-rested and have a fully charged phone, and I am willing to step away from my color-coded schedules sometimes. And I am much more capable than I give myself credit for. I can find my way home even when I somehow end up in Waterloo which is several tubes stop away. I can make a $2,000 personal budget stretch for 3 months without sacrificing my hand painted coffee coasters from Wales or my "Mind the Gap" T-shirt from a stand in Camden Market.

And I can ask for help even when I am embarrassed.

Like all study abroad experiences, my time in London had its difficulties. However, the CEA CAPA staff were incredibly supportive and made me feel like I was not alone. For example, they were patient with me as I navigated a new ADHD diagnosis, and made sure I had the learning accommodations I needed. Also, they came and picked me up in an Uber when I was running late to class after locking myself out of my flat. In addition, they helped me find more accessible routes for my service dog, Rosemary, and I, so we did not struggle during commutes. And, best of all, they advocated for me when Rosemary and I ran into public access issues during a field trip to the football stadium.

Surprisingly, I was the very first student from Hollins University to bring a service dog abroad. It's not easy being the first, but CEA CAPA helped me carry the burden of paving the path for other service dog teams who may set foot in London. The staff even awarded Rosemary a "Best Dog" certificate and a dog toy of a Tube train (which is already losing some stuffing, but still intact! LOL) that I will cherish forever. I could not have felt more special.

I really loved my time abroad in London while studying at the University of Westminster! I think it was a eventful and enriching experience for both my academic and personal skills. I highly enjoyed the Crime classes I got to take there with my professor and peers, who later became my close friends. I also think I grew a lot character-wise, I learned to become more independent and how to adapt and function in a completely new environment. I truly think it is a great experience for anyone considering study abroad.

I studied during these past few months in London. My time there was truly the best experience of my entire life. I loved the University I was at and the location. I made many friends from all over and had a lovely social life there. The education was amazing, I had a Gender Studies class which is a general education class for me but it was my favorite class while I was there. The school I was incredible, I have just got accepted to go back to London for my masters at that school! I also was able to have the opportunity to have an internship in the field I want to work in, I worked for a record label and helped with their marketing. I am currently still in contact with them and hope to work with them when I graduate. Overall, the CEA program has made me feel like I finally know where I want to be at and who I am as a person, this program has genuinely changed my life for the better.

I had the best experience studying abroad in London during the Spring 2026 semester. Between my education, my peers, traveling, and housing, every aspect of my time in London fostered growth both personally and professionally. I think London is the best city to study in because you never get bored, and there are 32 boroughs all with a different feel and experience. CEA CAPA also made the transition to living in a new country easy. Stepping outside my comfort zone was an opportunity I will never forget, and I'm thankful to this program for helping me achieve it!

After I signed up for study abroad, it didn't feel real. I was petrified, but soooo excited. I almost pulled out of it a couple of times out of fear and the feeling of being unsure, but I am so glad I didn't !! It was an experience I never could've imagined, and I'd study abroad and intern in London all over again. The classes were so fun and all of the staff was supportive and encouraging, and my supervisor was the best! I learned a lot and grew so much in the 6.5 weeks. Life changing experience!

This experience was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I got to experience the beautiful city that London was and learn about wrongful convictions and human rights in such an interesting way. When you think you have seen/experienced all of London, just know there is always more. Going on field studies to historical places in London was by far the highlight of my trip. How many people can say that they have been to London's Old Bailey and watched a criminal trial take place? Not many. I cannot recommend studying abroad to everyone more! I was so hesitant, but it was truly the best experience of my life.

My study abroad experience was overall very successful and rewarding. While there were some instances of miscommunication regarding the locations and times of certain events, these were minor challenges that come with adjusting to a new environment. Like any experience, there were both positives and negatives. My housing was located off campus but was still considered student housing. Although the space was quaint and relatively small, it provided all of the essential amenities needed for a comfortable experience abroad. The staff were always helpful and supportive, and the opportunities we were given throughout the program were truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Overall, I am very grateful for my study abroad experience and the memories and opportunities it provided.

Getting to study abroad in London was truly one of the best experiences of my educational career. I had always wanted to visit the city and going with CEA CAPA made my expereince made it that much better. They provided great information and help in preparing me for my travel that left much of my worries behind. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first got the news I had been expected, so having their guides made it much easier to plan out my trip. I was set up with student housing in a secure campus just under an hour outside of Central London. The accomodations were very good and I felt satisfied in everything the Univeristy had offered me during my time. I was in a great location with easy access to restaurants, a few fast food chains, and shopping centers. While enjoying my studies, I signed up for many excursions on my own time to make sure I got the most of my time in the London area. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to balance your education and your free time. You'll meet lots of new people, explore new places, and make so many memories. i hope anyone who does this program has as much fun as I did.
