Scholarships

Studying abroad in India does come with a price tag—but fear not, there are many avenues out there for receiving financial aid. Here are just a few we came across:

Planning Your Trip

Culture and Immersion

Because culture is ingrained every inch of New Delhi, it should be no trouble getting a feel for the culture of the city. Lal Qila, built to resemble a miniature city, houses around 3000 people and is a must see. At Lal Qila you will see palaces, a mosque, public meeting halls and gardens. If you have interest in art, take a trip to the crafts museum. The museum itself is constructed like an Indian village and holds over 20,000 Indian artifacts and relics. Jami Masjid, India’s largest mosque, is an amazing free sight something that is not to be missed. When visiting the mosque, make sure to dress conservatively and prepare to take off your shoes. Another free daytime activity is a visit to the Lodi Gardens park. This immensely popular park is complete with bridges, decorative tombs, and grass great for picnicking or relaxing.

If you are interested in history, make sure to visit Humayun’s tomb; one of India’s first mausoleums to designed with Persian influence. Another great place to go is the National Museum. This three-story museum contains over 30 galleries that showcase India for past 500 years. Students will not have a dull moment in New Delhi because practically everywhere they turn they will be met with history and culture!

Affordability

New Delhi is a super affordable place to live, so it’s a great option for those trying not to spend a fortune while studying abroad. Getting around New Delhi is extremely inexpensive because of the very convenient metro system. As well as being cheap and quick, the Delhi-metro is also air conditioned so it is a very comfortable ride. To save money on food, eat at one of the many food stands located all around the city. Because studying abroad can be very expensive, however, it is great to know your scholarship options! Be sure to check out the links lower on this page.

If you have some adventurous taste buds, be sure to try Delhi’s fresh street food, Dilli-ki-Chaat. You will find things like fried dough filled with chicken and chickpeas along with many other Indian spices!
