Teaching in China

Dan has been exceptionally helpful from the get go. He was very organised and explained every aspect of what to expect before moving to China and the processes within China. He kept in regular touch which I appreciated and would give me a break down of everything I needed to do or what would be happening. He provided so many useful tips about moving to China which I’m very thankful for. I would highly recommend Dan if you’re considering teaching abroad, he made the process so much easier and stress free. Even after moving to China he has kept in touch and has been checking how everything is going.

Finding teacher placement

Hi highly recommend this program, Dan was extremely helpful and helped me solve what seemed like an unsolvable problem. I wanted to start moving away from ESL teaching and find a subject-teaching position that was related to my History major. This was so I could enroll in an iQTS program and obtain my UK teaching license while teaching abroad, however, I came across one major obstacle. All the schools that qualified to teach while I did this program were international/bilingual schools that wanted experienced subject teachers already. I had no idea how to solve this problem so asking all around for some guidance on this. Dan was great, he managed to put me in contact with the correct people and I now have a good-paying History teaching job in the exact region I was looking for.

First teaching job in Beijing

As a first time teacher with no experience, Dan was really helpful in offering genuine advice about the best way and places to start my teaching career abroad. He was able to match me with an employer only a few days after getting in touch with Go Overseas and was super helpful in guiding me along the interview stages. I ver much felt as though Dan was in my corner when talking and negotiating with employers which made communication easier. The first few weeks have been so smooth and Dan was also able to put me in touch with some other teachers from the UK that he’d sent to the same company. I can’t imagine things working out as well if I were navigating the world of teaching abroad for the first time on my own.

My Experience as Teacher in Shenzhen

Arriving was easy and everything went well and everything as planned. The experience has been amazing. There is so much to do. It was hard teaching at first but after a few lesson, it got a lot easier. The hardest part is getting through the initial teaching stage but after that it's so rewarding! It's hard to get accustomed to Chinese companies not giving you information as you often have to learn what you need to do on the job rather than being told beforehand. But the Chinese are so quick at making arrangements, nothing takes a long time to sort out with your school.

What was your funniest moment?
Eating hotpot raw and getting shits for an entire two days. That was fun.
Pros
  • Work
  • Social Life
Cons
  • Chinese lack of providing you information but the quick speed of arrangements is a pro

Great experience

I have not been in Beijing long and I already love it. Its a very friendly city and the staff at my company are great. Getting here was very easy. Dan, at Teach English Global, made the process as simple and well described as possible. Without Dan, getting here would have been much more difficult without him. I recommend using him to help you get to China. He managed to get me an interview with a company with a day or two. And that is now the company I work at. He even helped me choose where I should work, explaining the different companies I could work at and how that would effect my experience in China.

Great and seamless experience in getting to China - thank you Dan

Dan at Teach English Global did an incredible job of finding me work in China and guided me through the process really well. I always felt I could go to him for support with things and the whole process moved very quickly. I would recommend him to anybody looking to teach in China. There have been no hidden surprises and I still feel I can go to Dan with any questions etc. A seemingly very difficult task of going through the visa process and finding work was made incredibly easy through his expertise.
