TEFL in Antigua, Guatemala with Guaranteed Job Placement

I came to Antigua to study TEFL with Maximo and I absolutely loved it. Audra, our TEFL teacher, was not only very prepared but made us feel comfortable from day one.

Because I´m Mexican I thought it was going to be harder for me to get the hang of it. The TEFL program is organized in a way that everything just sort of fell in place.

I chose to study in the classroom over the online or hybrid courses because

I wanted the interaction with other students and the mini lessons and practical teaching experience.

An advantage of pursuing TEFL Certification with Maximo Nivel was being able to teach Guatemalan English learners versus not having this experience in the United States or Canada.

Maximo Nivel offers an excellent and effective TEFL certification program that really prepares you for stepping into a classroom. A friend of mine attended Maximo in Peru several years ago and went on to teach in countries all over the world so I came to Maximo expecting the certification would prepare me for wherever I wanted to go. What I did not expect was how much fun we would have during TEFL class, how rigorous the course would be or how much I would miss my students from practical teaching week. Audra, our TEFL trainer, was excellent: fun, dynamic, enthusiastic and knowledgable. I could not imagine having a better teacher for this course. Additionally, a big shout out to the entire staff for their effort and accommodation of us for the entire month. The entire experience was top notch!

I didn´t really consider taking the classes anywhere but Maximo because the staff here was just great from the moment that I walked through the door. The online reviews and personal recommendations finally sold it for me. The course here at Maximo really prepares you to teach ESL in the real world. After your week of practical teaching in the final week you feel totally prepared to jump into a classroom and teach. Teaching REAL clients using the TEFL methods really gave me confidence.
I was already living in Guatemala when I decided to take a TEFL course, so I can´t tell you about the accommodations. The others in my class were generally happy with them though and Maximo works hard to resolve any issues that may arise. Antigua is a great place to relax and to take classes. You will NEVER lack for something to do on the weekends.
Audra is absolutely one of the BEST instructors I have ever had. She managed to make all aspects of the TEFL course fun and interesting (yes, even the grammar days). She will be in Antigua for a while longer so if you want to take TEFL with an awesome teacher, don´t wait. Or go to Maximo in Costa Rica. Maximo is a great organization to study with so whoever takes over here in Antigua will be great as well.

The TEFL/TESOL program at Maximo Nivel is definitely topnotch. I just finished the July/August course and it really has been a rewarding and life changing experience. I basically took the course as just something to do over the summer and since then I have fallen in love with teaching and the Maximo Nivel family. There were 7 people in my class and its small size really fostered a great sense of camaraderie and friendship. I would recommend taking this course for any age and background because it just simply is so inspiring. The TEFL trainer, Audra is the bomb and she is very dedicated to insuring that by the end of the month YOU will be a good teacher!

I completed the TEFL course earlier this summer and had a wonderful experience. I was a hybrid TEFL student so the first half of the course was all online and Suzanne could not have been more helpful and available via Skype and email. I am pursuing a Master's in Education and ESOL in the U.S. and the TEFL course was a perfect addition. It helped to fill in so many holes and gave so many practical opportunities to observe and teach actual classes. Suzanne and Audra were a phenomenal team of teachers who have so much expertise and made the class so fun. The course is definitely a lot of work but you will gain great insight into teaching as well as practical experience. This was my second time going through Maximo Nivel and the team in Antigua was wonderful to work with! I highly recommend the course anyone interested in teaching abroad or improving your teaching skills for working in the U.S.

I wasn't too sure what to think of the TEFL course before arriving in Antigua but the Maximo staff are welcoming and look after you very well. The course is tough and demanding but as long as you are prepared to work hard and want to do well, you will have no problems. My teacher, Audra, was so great...she has so much energy, is dedicated to her students and is hilarious. I highly recommend taking this course with Maximo Nivel as you are well looked after, you can meet all sorts of people and you are sure to have blast! It is well worth having the TEFL certification whether you are travelling or not.

As a Spanish teacher in the United States, my primary reason taking this course was to gain experience teaching my own native language abroad. I gained this and MORE from Maximo Nivel! I learned many techniques I can put into practice in my Spanish classroom, as well valuable information about the TEFL profession around the world. Additionally, I feel confident that if I ever decide to seek employment abroad, the many wonderful people at Maximo Nivel will be there to assist me in my job search. My TEFL instructor, Audra, was FABULOUS! If you are interested in TEFL and teaching in beautiful Latin America, I highly recommend that you choose Maximo Nivel!

The four-week Maximo Nivel TEFL course was a challenging, rigorous, well-worth it experience. As a mid-career English teacher, I figured I would know most of the information and have little problem with the practical teaching. But I did learn a lot and improved my practice in the process. I have new techniques to add to my classroom repertoire. Everyone can learn from this class regardless of his or her background . And Audra, the TEFL trainer, is just terrific!
