Diversity & Inclusion 💙

As a female-led, local Thai family organization, we pride ourselves on a "family-first" culture that treats every participant with equal respect and warmth. Our community in Ban Lum is an inclusive environment where we provide personalized, on-ground support to ensure all participants feel safe and celebrated.
We operate with an open-door policy, welcoming all individuals into our family compound regardless of identity. Being female-owned and operated, we prioritize a safe, judgment-free space and provide local cultural guidance to ensure our LGBTQIA+ residents feel at home in Thailand.
Our residency is small and family-run, allowing us to offer flexible, individualized support for neurodivergent participants. We focus on clear communication and a supportive "village" environment to help everyone thrive in their teaching roles.
We assess accessibility on a case-by-case basis to ensure our local accommodations and school placements meet specific physical needs. While Thai infrastructure varies, our family team provides dedicated logistics and private transport to support participants with chronic conditions.

Impact 🌎

Our HQ is a family ecosystem featuring our own pesticide-free organic farm since 1945. We promote a "farm-to-table" lifestyle and encourage low-impact travel to ensure our programs benefit the Sukhothai environment and local community.
We focus on deep-rooted community impact through official partnerships with local schools and the Ministry of Education. By prioritizing local family-led management over corporate structures, we ensure that every residency supports the long-term educational growth of our heritage town.

Teaching in Lampang with KET

I spent a year teaching at a primary school in Lampang, Thailand (near Chiang Mai) and had an amazing experience. The KET staff gave great cultural training, teaching advice, and set up a visit to a local school so the new teachers could do a practice lesson before entering our year-long assignments. The staff at my school set me up for success and welcomed me to Thailand both at school and during their free time. Outside of school time, I was able to travel locally and beyond with other teachers in my city. My boyfriend and I went to Thailand together and KET was able to place us in the same city and help us find accommodation ten minutes from both of our schools. I made great friends, ate great food, and would go back to Thailand in a heartbeat!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Spend time getting to know the Thai teachers at your school because they will likely welcome you to participate in unique cultural experiences. During my year, I went to a wedding, a retirement party, and a funeral. They also have the best travel advice!

An incredibly helpful and supportive team to get you set up to live and teach in Thailand

Matthew has been incredibly supportive in the build up to coming to Thailand. He gives very detailed information and his response time is incredibly fast (especially considering time differences). The group orientation we had in Sukothai was very informative, useful and fun. The KET Thai Team are also happy, friendly and helpful. The orientation also included cultural activities like a Thai language class, Thai cooking class, Songkran festival in Sukothai, and a welcome dinner! It was a great way of adjusting to Thai lifestyle and meeting other teachers in the same position as you.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Moving to a rural province in Thailand (especially considering I was based on my own) is a very difficult transition. Not knowing anyone in my area, what places are around, how things work, where to eat/drink, etc. The best advice I can offer is to give yourself time. You aren't supposed to know every single detail and that's part of the adventure and experience of living abroad. You'll meet new people in your school, in your neighbourhood, community and other areas. Thai people are argubly some of the most friendly and genuine people I've ever met. They are always willing to help out and even if you don't know a single Thai word (which I didn't to begin with), they always appreciate a smile and a sawadee krap/ka (polite way of saying hello).
Pros
  • Helpful and supportive KET Team.
  • Thai sim card is provided.
  • An incredible experience to be able to teach and live abroad in Thailand.
Cons
  • Wish I knew before flying to Thailand if anyone from the orientation was going to be based in my province.
  • Difficult adjustment initially once you move to your province.

Kids English Thailand

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Kids English Team on the orientation. The team went above and beyond and were extremely accommodating to our needs. The lessons we were taught by both Matthew and the Thai team were incredibly valuable to our time in Thailand moving forward. My partner and I both viewed Matthew as not only an inspirational character but a friend whom we would feel comfortable to confide in. We both made friends who we intend to meet again as we share this unique and incredible journey in Thailand. We would absolutely recommend this agency to anyone who wanted to pursue a career in teaching in Thailand.

What was your funniest moment?
I shared a lot of laughs with Matthew. The leaving party with the Thai team was an absolute highlight, in particular the incredible Mr Tongs dance moves.
Pros
  • The opportunity to meet like-minded people.
  • Working with a fun and engaging team.
  • Exploring Sukothai.
Cons
  • The saddest part was it was only a week- I loved it that much.

In the eye of the beholder.

When I was first contacted by KET, I was nervous, skeptical, scared, and a bunch of other emotions were going through me. Matthew and his team made the move as seamless as a move could be.

During my time at KET, I felt valued. I had support 24/7. The kids are amazing and phenomenal. They are quite respectful and I will miss them immensely. They are what makes teaching worthwhile. It's quite magical when a kid tells you that they like learning with you.

During my exit, they were able to give me tips and support, even after I chose to leave them

What was your funniest moment?
My moments were with my kids. When I was teaching and learning with them.
Pros
  • Support
  • Experience
  • A happy life.
Cons
  • It was hot
  • Some food is really spicy
  • Not a lot of public transport

Review of Kids English Thailand

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Kids English Thailand for their exceptional assistance in facilitating my journey to Thailand as an English teacher. Their unwavering support and dedication throughout the documentation process made my transition to Lampang smooth and enjoyable. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and patience.
The training provided by Kids English Thailand was impeccable. I felt thoroughly prepared, thanks in large part to Mathew's invaluable assistance. Nothing came as a surprise, and I was able to step into my role with confidence, all thanks to the comprehensive training provided by KET.
My experience in Thailand has been nothing short of extraordinary. As they say, Thailand truly is the "Land of Smiles." The locals are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making it easy to immerse oneself in the rich culture and vibrant atmosphere. From breathtaking natural landscapes to delectable cuisine, Thailand offers a plethora of experiences to explore.
The weather in Thailand is perfect, with warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine year-round. This, coupled with the delicious local cuisine, makes every day a delight for the senses. Additionally, I have been thoroughly impressed by the level of respect and admiration the children here have for their teachers. It's heartwarming to see such enthusiasm for learning and education.
In conclusion, I am immensely grateful to Kids English Thailand for providing me with this incredible opportunity to teach in Thailand. My experience thus far has been nothing short of amazing, and I would wholeheartedly recommend any teacher considering a move to Thailand to partner with Kids English Thailand. Thank you once again for making this experience possible.

My experience with KET helping me after leaving Thailand

Hiya,
I wanted to write this review to tell anyone considering teaching abroad that the experience is really lifechanging and has helped me to figure out what I want from my future career. Since I left my teaching job with Kids English Thailand, I have been looking for other teaching roles in Japan, China, and the USA. The team at KET has been incredible in helping me with references for all of these applications, regardless of how many I keep asking for. But the best part is that every interviewer I've had recently has been incredibly impressed by my experience abroad. Furthermore I've been able to give in-depth, real answers to the classic interview questions like "how have you had to overcome challenges?" or "what's something in your career that you've been really proud of".

Overall I would really recommend teaching with KET because the experience is unforgettable and regardless of the job you're looking for afterwards, the things you learn will definitely help you.

What was your funniest moment?
my second day of teaching happened to fall on the school Halloween party. My thai colleagues painted my face and dyed my hair to look like the joker and I went on to teach maths all day, whilst scaring the pants off my students!
Pros
  • Responsive staff
  • Great pay
  • Incredible lifestyle

Thai Tales

Although I had experienced some challenging times leading up to my placement in Tak, Thailand, it was all a distant memory the second I was greeted by the kind and affable staff members. I was lucky enough to arrive just in time to enjoy the lovely Loy Krathong festival with them. We poured ourselves in traditional Thai garb and enjoyed the night away. I was then taken to Tak where I have since been teaching. The students have been a joy to work with and the Thai staff have been equally amazing. Although I'm fairly new here, I'm positive that this is going to be a memorable experience.

Pros
  • Friendly and kind people.
  • Food is amazing
  • Cost of living is reasonable.
Cons
  • Delayed communication
