Gaining a certain amount of knowledge I was unaware of has made me level up my teaching skills. All thanks to 'World Tesol Academy' for helping me call myself a "Certified English Language tutor". I am looking forward to pursuing more courses with them to hone my teaching abilities. There are two more courses, TEAL and TEYL, which are still on my bucket list. Hopefully, I will be able to give some time to those courses too soon. I never expected the course to be that easy and effective for improving myself on the grounds of a language teacher.

The course was excellently designed and tailored. It is oriented toward young learners and teachers of the primary level. Overall, the course touches on all the important aspects of the English Language and teaching methodologies. The examples and videos in the middle are excellent attention retainers throughout the course. Except for some drawbacks, the course is productive and fruitful for a lot of teachers in the world. The major drawback is, that the course is increasingly focused on young learners and the primary level. It rarely talks about adult learners and teaching methods.

What would you improve about this program?

I would change the pattern of the questions that were used. I would also add some audio questions to find out the answers. I would replace the same nature of questions like selecting the answers from options and true or false. These are not that effective.

Pros

The overall lesson plan is top-notch and to the point.
The video lessons were effective and engaging.
The wide range of area covered in this lesson for online and offline classes.

Cons

The support was not quick and immediate. It would be nice if it would be 24/7 support.
Some questions were very general to answer.
The nature of the questions were boring and repetitive. It would be great if there would be variety of questions.

Ready to roar in the world of English Language...

I completed these lessons during a volunteer year in Taiwan at a high school. It was a great way to practice what I had learned right away when helping the students with their English. Learning new ways to explain things, small details I haven't considered before, and revision of things I used to know but forgot over time.
But what I enjoyed the most were the moments when I remembered my old English teacher. Recognizing and understanding the techniques she used to teach me and my classmates English was quite a surprise but I enjoyed it a lot. It also helped me to understand a lot of techniques right away since I got to experience them firsthand before.
Overall a really great way to enjoy further education. And as you can see, it really is suitable for everyone and their individual situation.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would read each lesson completely before I start summarizing it... I only started doing so towards the end and it saved me a lot of time

The course focused on different aspects of teaching, from language rules to warming exercises. I especially enjoyed videos of a teacher engaging with young learners using various games and activities, it was super fun and useful to watch! I feel much more prepared to be a teacher now, even though I had previous experience, it's still nice to organize everything inside my head. I have so many notes now to revisit later on! So excited about further learning opportunities, planning to focus on online teaching a bit later!

Started it off without expecting much, yet I find myself surprised at having completed the course and obtained my license. Great content with an easy to navigate platform. The content value was definitely helpful to get to know the realities and small intricacies involved with teaching the English language. Overall, I had fun with it and the quizzes definitely helped out a lot. The videos were amazing and would recommend even more of them. Finished it in a timely manner without much difficulty; still, it was well worth to take up this challenge. Sheers~!

What would you improve about this program?

I would say more interactive videos. Reading is fun and all but videos just bring the whole experience up a notch.

The 120 hour TEFL/TESOL course available online at the World TESOL Academy has been very well designed. It is also extremely user friendly. There are also links for additional studies on selected topics. The academy also responds very quickly for any queries or support needed. The course can be completed fairly quickly depending on the level of prior knowledge on English language as well as the time dedicated for completing the course.

I recommend this course for starting the journey as ESL teacher

I recently completed the TESOL/TEFL certification course, and it was an outstanding experience. As someone looking to teach English abroad, this course was perfect for me.

I have found in this course the opportunity to grow as a teacher. It is good to get to know everything related to teaching, and as someone who really loves it, I totally value the great strategies that I found along the way. Can't wait to put them into practice. Highly recommended.
One of the things I liked the most was to have the chance to see how actual teachers put every tip into practice and also to see the kids reaction to that specific strategy, it clearly makes it way better. The content was amazing and I think I am fully prepared to get a part time online job.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?

I started teaching 2 years ago at the age of 19, and I had the privilege to see how my students have grown along the way. Two of them have a diagnose that makes it hard for them to start their process with reading and writing. 4 months later, and after 3 teachers tried, I found the perfect way to help them learn in a fun way. The result? Both of them were recognized as one of the best students during that scholar year, now they learn and they're comprehension couldn't be better.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

Going into my experience teaching English as a foreign language overseas, my biggest fear was not being able to effectively connect with and engage my students due to language barriers and cultural differences. I worried that my limited experience in new cultural settings might make it challenging to communicate and build rapport.

I overcame this fear by investing time in learning about the local culture and customs, actively seeking feedback from students and colleagues, and adapting my teaching methods to better suit their needs. As I gained more experience and confidence, I realized that being flexible and open to learning from my students greatly enhanced my teaching effectiveness. My views on the issue evolved as I understood that building relationships and understanding local contexts are key to successful teaching abroad.

Answer: One memorable experience from teaching English abroad was organizing a cultural exchange event where my students and I shared stories and traditions from our respective cultures.
