TESOL is a Great Platform

It became a great tool to understand and do the lessons and quizzes. I found it is more self regulatory, encouraging and exciting. Thank you for designing such a wonderful platform. Regarding my education, I have already done in MEd and MA in major English. Currently, I have been teaching the students of a University. My subject is Business English and Managerial Communication but what I learnt from this World TESOL Academy is very useful, interesting and adaptable. I am pretty sure that I will make my classes more professional and interesting in coming future. I had been working in China as an English Teacher at Middle School in ChangChung Province in 2010. Now this course has given me many more new insights and confidence not only understand but to apply in my classroom.

What was your funniest moment?
Mark whether the sentence below is true or false:
โ€œUnlike with listening or speaking, small mistakes with a studentโ€™s writing can be easy to hide and rarely cause problems.โ€

True
False
I made mistake first time thinking in a opposite way because I had read the question properly.
Pros
  • I found the package encouraging.
  • There is a beautiful harmony between the text and quizzes.
  • Result is computerized so prompt response.
Cons
  • It would be better if there is sometimes live session from the experts.
  • Opinion based questions at least one would be better after the quizzes.
  • Nothing

Best starting point for an english teaching career.

Great content for its price. I was doubtful at first, but after the first few units it hit me that the course had a lot of material to study. I had experience teaching private students before so it was comforting to see that the contents were correctly presented in the course. I learned many new tips and developed some new skills to manage small groups. I finished my course on Sunday and my certificate is arriving this Friday.

I hope to take some of the other courses World Tesol Academy offers. They are worth the price!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would have alloted more time to complete the program. It took me lonnger than I expected, but it was because of me not putting time away to study earlier.
Pros
  • Price
  • Platform
  • Validity
Cons
  • Not enough videos
  • No material available for download

Good But Too Simple

Overall this is an adequate and comprehensive training program for new aspiring teachers. The format of concise text with a few videos demonstrating teaching in practice is straightforward and easy to follow. Yet the quizzes are extremely basic, easy and predictable; they lend themselves to one not really understanding the distinctions in the material shared. The particular insights into online teaching and frequent discussion of different classroom management strategies is well placed and appreciated.

From Learning to Teaching

I am opening my door to a new career, hence, I needed new skills to equip me to pursue it. Though I majored in English in my Undergraduate studies, I never got to pursue teaching. Instead, my English communication skills were put to great use in my previous corporate job positions dealing with technical documents, customer service and operations management.
I love learning foreign languages and I enjoyed attending classes both in classrooms and online. Through those lessons, I have somehow observed how the teachers are conducting their classes and learned what, as far as I am concerned as a student, finds motivating or not. Now that I am learning to become an ESL teacher, I want to be conscious of the many more factors that makes an English language class successful so that whoever will be my student will have a pleasant and motivating classroom experience to learn from.
Thank you World TESOL for this very helpful course. The modules are just what I need to prepare me for the ESL teaching job.

What would you improve about this program?
While tricky questions are a good test of the student's capacity to make the right judgement, I find that some statements in the course material are conflicting. I have discussed some of them to the chat support.
Pros
  • The modules' order was good
  • Very simple but appropriate use of the language all throughout
  • no time limit so i can work on it in my own pace making immersion better
Cons
  • Some conflicting statements
  • Was expecting a video with an adult class
  • for teaching online, was expecting some videos to show an actual online class

Teaching knowledge in a nutshell

As an educated and experienced teacher myself, I enrolled in the course for obtaining work permit overseas in a country that did not accept my undergrad diploma. The content and setting of the lessons in this course were all to the point, put in a nutshell out of all the university courses, workshops, webinars and teacher trainings I have had experienced throughout my career of more than ten years as a language teacher.
I would recommend this course to all those who are seeking to teach English in Turkey, as it is accepted by ministries of Labor and Education.

A great course

Well, online courses aren't new to me. The course was straightforward, easy to navigate, and very well laid out. Its videos get the aspect of what's being taught as well as giving ideas of teaching the material, I would encourage anyone looking to teach ESL to take this course, especially for the price.
I would advise anyone seeking a TESOL certification to take this one you won't be disappointed, you most certainly will get a deal for the amount of money, which isn't that significant. For the price you can't beat it.

Excellent

This was definitely a great, refreshing and wonderful experience for me. . . . Growing up in Brooklyn, New York and being a native English speaker, I thought I knew enough of the English language system, until I started this course. . . . I have been teacher in Amman, Jordan for about 4 years now and it is a wonderful experience to have learned something new from the course of TESOL. It was a grueling 120 hours, but I was determined to complete the course so I can teach more effectively with pride.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment literally happened last week. I was at the dentist getting my upper left hand wisdom tooth removed. Upon leaving the dentist, I was walking out of the front door and I walked into the glass door, thinking that it was an actual door!!
Pros
  • An excellent teaching tool
  • Breaks down simply the ins and outs of English
Cons
  • A lot of information
