Internship in Japan by Asia Internship Program

I had the opportunity to work as an intern in Japan for three months through the Asia Internship Program, and the entire experience was amazing from the very beginning.

I would like to sincerely thank Ted Ko for his support throughout the company search process, as well as Kate for her continuous help and support during my stay in Japan. Their guidance made the whole experience much smoother and more enjoyable.

The experience and knowledge I gained during this internship will be extremely valuable for my future. It gave me the opportunity to experience a professional environment firsthand and gain a better understanding of the real-world workplace. This opportunity helped me grow not only professionally, but also personally.

I also really appreciated not having to worry about arranging accommodation. AIP did a great job finding a comfortable place to stay, and living in a sharehouse was an experience in itself. I had the chance to meet many new people, make new friends, and share memorable experiences.

Overall, I am very grateful for this opportunity and for everything I learned and experienced during my time in Japan. It was an unforgettable experience that I will carry with me into my future career and personal life.

I underwent a two month Software Development Internship at a Startup in Osaka and it was one of the best experiences I have had.
First of all, the support of the program staff was great. There were some delays in the process at first due to some internal changes at the program company, but after that everything went smoothly. My manager was great, I described to him exactly what my skills are and what type of company and position I am looking for and he found the perfect placement for me. During the internship the on ground support team regularly checked in with me to see how I am doing and to ask if I needed any help.
The Startup I worked at was great, there were quite a few interns and our boss was very open to our ideas and opinions. Every intern had their own project part they worked on, the boss told us what he envisioned, but the process of getting there was left to us and we were able to implement our own ideas as well. I learnt a lot and the workspace and atmosphere in our team was great.
I also had time to explore the Kansai region, from daytrips to Kyoto, Kobe, Amanohashidate, Shirahama and Nachikatsuura to a road trip to Shikoku with other interns. I attended a cooking workshop and went to festivals in Osaka with my flatmates and learnt a lot about the japanese culture.
Overall, it was a great experience and I can definitely recommend doing an internship abroad to anyone.

I had a great experience with AIP! They were very helpful, professional, and supportive throughout the whole process of finding my company placement in Asia and after as well. The communication was smooth, and they made the process much easier and less stressful.

Thanks to AIP, I was able to find an amazing opportunity that matched what I was looking for. I did my internship in Japan during the summer. It was a bit difficult to find a company related to my area, but AIP made it possible and helped me find a good place. I can’t say enough good things about this study abroad internship program in Japan. From day one, the support team went above and beyond — helping with everything from housing logistics to navigating cultural norms at the workplace, to just checking in to see how I was adjusting. Whenever I hit a snag (and there were a few, since everything was so new!), someone was always just a message away with real, helpful guidance.

Working abroad completely shifted how I see the world and myself. Culturally, I learned to appreciate the nuance in Japanese communication styles — the emphasis on harmony, indirectness, and reading context that isn’t always spelled out. It pushed me to be more observant and adaptable in ways I didn’t expect.

I really enjoyed my internship experience in Japan and am grateful that I had the opportunity to spend the summer there.
