Best immersion experience I have ever had

I stayed for one week in Barcelona, with the intention of boosting my language skills before returning to university (where I study Spanish). From the moment I enrolled on the course, Mónica was nothing but helpful and enthusiastic. The week consisted of Spanish classes (Mónica was so adaptable and helped me with the things I specifically wanted to practice) and Spanish immersion activities, including exciting excursions to the beautiful places Barcelona has to offer, and fun activities like kayaking and walking Mónica’s beautiful puppies in the scenic mountains. Mónica well and truly shared her culture with me, and exposed me to the ways of the Spanish people, from mealtimes to actually meeting some of her close family and friends. She gave me a well-rounded experience of immersion, and one which shall stay with me forever. My favourite thing about the course was the fact that I wasn’t just there to learn; I was there to enjoy my time, and Mónica made that possible for me. We didn’t just talk about Spanish grammar, but we had conversations about everyday life, and REAL things that I was passionate about. It was so effortless and natural. Conversation never felt forced or uncomfortable with Mónica. I will certainly be back…it hasn’t even been a week and I’m already ready to come back! Thank you so much to Spanish Express for such a wonderful time.

Pros
  • My host (Mónica) was absolutely faultless. I felt so comfortable in her home.
  • The town where I stayed was beautiful.
  • The flexibility of the course, and being able to create a plan with Mónica which fit my needs and interests.
Cons
  • Not staying longer!

Immensely rewarding

Enrolling in the Spanish immersion program at Pilar's house in Valencia was an exceptional decision. Pilar's warm and inviting home provided the perfect backdrop for an immersive language learning experience. The customized lessons were tailored to my learning goals, ensuring that I progressed at a comfortable pace while challenging myself. Living with a native speaker was a game-changer; I found myself engaging in meaningful conversations and learning colloquial expressions that aren't often covered in textbooks. Pilar's teaching style was both informative and enjoyable, making each lesson a valuable learning opportunity. Exploring Valencia with their local insights was a highlight; I got to experience the city's culture and history in a way that only a resident could provide. This immersion program not only helped me improve my Spanish but also allowed me to create lasting memories and connections. I wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone seeking an immersive and authentic way to learn Spanish while discovering the beauty of Valencia.

My experience was amazing! Pilar is a very sweet person and an amazing teacher. Not only did I learn a lot but I also ate some great food while staying in the house. Pilar took us to all of the places we wanted to go and was very thoughtful about my gluten allergy. I am very happy I got to experience life in Valencia while also improving my Spanish immensely! I would definitely recommend this course to anyone trying to learn or improve their Spanish because it is a super fun way to learn and experience.

Curso inmersión en Valencia

Pilar was a wonderful hostess, and an even better teacher. She was very accommodating to heath restrictions, and always provided what we needed. Her course was the best Spanish classes I’ve taken, and I learned more here in 3 weeks than I have in 3 years in high school. I feel confident in my ability to speak above basic Spanish, and have a good understanding of how the language works. I also had the ability to walk to several hikes while I was here, and took advantage. The nature here is different than my country, and I loved experiencing new things while wondering the wilderness.

Pros
  • The fantastic views, many hikes available
  • Many excursions
  • Wonderful cooking
Cons
  • No air conditioning

Spanish with Pilar

This course was an incredible experience! Pilar is such a kind and lovely person and cooks very well.
She’s caring and always available for everyone.
I never got bored during these three weeks and the company of her son Max, her daughter Esmeralda and Ardi was special.
The place was beautiful and the people were very friendly.
I will never forget this experience.
Just a little remark, for three weeks of classes, I find the price a little excessive and not everyone is willing to spend that much.

Pros
  • Teacher
  • Food
  • Great city (Valencia)
Cons
  • Too hot in the summer
  • Too distant from city center
  • Lack of public transport
