The Ultimate Support System

I could talk about how amazing Paris was, how much I loved my classes, and all the fun places I visited, but I am here to talk about why CEA CAPA specifically stood out. First of all, the have a physical building in le marais where office staff are there to help you, find you tutors, and facilitate package deliveries. They maintain a 24/7 emergency hotline, which set me at ease. The program includes visits around Paris and a weekend trip to Normandy - my favorite excursion was going to a ballet!

What was your funniest moment?
While abroad I had a lot of time to travel - 2 week long breaks throughout the spring semester. During my April break I traveled to Sevilla for Feria and danced in the street all night and making such a fool of myself I couldn't stop laughing with my friends the whole time.
Pros
  • Accessibility to resources
  • Friendly staff
  • Great location

Review of Internship in Barcelona, Spain

I loved my internship & study program in Barcelona, Spain because I met and learned from many different walks of life. As someone who wants to live and work in international business one day, this was the experience of a lifetime. I worked my first hybrid job and had the opportunity to practice my Spanish language skills everywhere I went! I also met some amazing professors and employers who made my experience worthwhile. I still keep in touch with my employers and classmates from my time abroad, and I miss every second of it!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I went to the top of Tibidabo mountain and saw a beautiful church that overlooked all of Barcelona! It was the most incredible thing I've ever seen.
Pros
  • My living accommodations were amazing! Everything was very close by public transport and I had everything I needed in my building.
  • I got to learn the differences in work-life styles between the US and Spain, and meet some incredible people along the way.
  • The food was amazing! I typically have a lot of food restrictions in the US, and was able to indulge in whatever I wanted while in Europe.
What other participants should know
  • Since I chose to live alone and got placed in a mostly remote internship, I didn't have much social interaction outside of the classroom and wished I had.

Sevilla Spring 2024

A unique opportunity in Sevilla to stay in a “Casa de Sevilla,” which is a mix between a homestay and an apartment was one of the most enjoyable parts of this program. I lived with six other girls from different universities and we had a host mom that we could practice the language with, eat meals with, ask questions about Sevilla, or anything else. I really felt this was the best of both worlds because you had your own space but also had the cultural aspect of study abroad everyday in your house.

Its a Europe Summer

Living in Prague for 8 weeks was a lifetime experience. I didn't think I was going to be able to afford the program but with financial aid and scholarships. There I set a specific budget for everyday things, touristy things, and travel money. I learned to cook for myself every day and would go to the corner store about twice a week. The lady after 6 weeks finally warmed up a little. It was very affordable, only about 20 dollars per week for food. And since I took care of my expenses so much I was able to add a last-minute travel plan to Croatia, which made it all worth it.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
When booking a trip, remember that just because getting there might be cheap doesn't mean that the food, activities, attractions, and transport won't add up, so its always something good to keep in mind.
Pros
  • Affordable
  • Beautiful clean city
  • Very safe
What other participants should know
  • Czechs are very cold people

Barcelona

I loved this experience! All the staff was accommodating, especially regarding housing issues, outside activities, and trips through Cea. I am so grateful I got to experience this, and I loved it so much that it also makes me think about moving to Europe (especially Barcelona). Everywhere I went was breathtaking and it was so cheap to travel to different places. I could have definitely stayed for 4 months in this program (but with air conditioning trust me it is worth it when it is hot!) This was a great experience, and I will always carry it with me in so many ways.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
One thing I would change is how much I packed. When they say to pack lightly they are not kidding! Even though you are in a different country, they have about 90% of what you think they wouldn't have and what you use daily. Plus, you will want to do a lot of shopping, there are a lot of new places to shop at that you cannot get in the U.S.
Pros
  • Gained a lot of knowledge
  • Met some amazing people
  • Saw a whole new part of the world
What other participants should know
  • Getting scabies
  • Cockroaches in my housing

All Roads Lead to Rome

My experience in Rome completely exceeded my expectations. Rome is such an unique and exciting city that I would absolutely visit again. There's something for everyone whether you're a history buff, foodie, or outdoor adventurer. I always felt safe walking around and knew that, if I didn't, the CEA CAPA staff would help me immediately. Travel in Italy or to other countries is also very easy from Rome because it's the center of Italy, hence the phrase all roads lead to Rome. CEA CAPA also provides so many fun events such as pasta making, yoga in a stunning park, and free workout classes on Monday. No matter what, you will have something fun and exciting to try. I could not recommend Rome more!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
For my first weekend, I went to Bologna and Imola for a Formula 1 race! It was incredible to see so many people from all across the global.
Pros
  • Safety: Safe to walk around at night even though I was a 25-30 minutes walk from CEA CAPA's center
  • Food: The food is so delicious and there's such amazing variety.
  • Travel: There are always trains, buses, or planes going into Rome so, even when traveling issues arise, you will always have a way to get back.
What other participants should know
  • Metro Schedule: The metro stops are 9pm-10pm at night and starts again around 6am.
  • Price: If you don't watch your spending, Rome can get very expensive as with any major city.
  • Tourists: For the last two weeks of the program, the tourists take over and can be quite annoying.

Memories Abroad As A Student

studying abroad is an experience everyone should consider, and the French Rivera is the best spot to do so. Speak French? Great!! You will be able to practice with the Locals. Don't speak much French like me? Also Great! The French Rivera provides a unique experience for a variety of people. It offers a great scenery of both the mountains and the sea, while embarking on a journey to a different country. Best Part of it all is the amazing food which France has to offer. France is a amazing country for all to visit once in their lifetime and I am sure that once you spend sometime there you will never want to leave, just like I experienced!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I think one of the most nerve racking things for me as someone who doesn't speak French is the language barrier but once living in France I found that most people spoke English and were helpful with helping me learn French!
Pros
  • Great Memories
  • Amazing Food
  • Breathtaking Scenery
What other participants should know
  • Touristy Location

Florence, Italy Summer Study Abroad

My experience was awesome!! I went to Florence, Italy and I can honestly say I think it is the best study abroad destination in Italy. I also was able to visit Venice, Pisa, San Lucca, Cinque Terre, Paris, and Barcelona. I met a ton of new friends and learned so many incredible things. I am a foodie for sure so I loved learning about Italian food and wine. The streets of Florence were easy to navigate and remember so it felt familiar and more like home within a week. I would highly recommend it!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Going overseas for six weeks without my family was definitely the most nerve-racking part. I have never not seen them for that long nor have I ever been that far away from them. What if something happens? What if I really need them? But honestly, that was never even a problem. Of course, I missed them but I was able to talk to them every day so it was almost the same thing. I overcame it by making tons of new friends and doing lots of fun activities that didn't make me think about missing them. I kept super busy and knew that nothing was going to happen to me so I learned not to think that way. I loved catching up with them when I got back and telling them all about my trip. I wouldn't change a thing.
Pros
  • nightlife
  • food
  • travel
What other participants should know
  • No AC
  • Lots and lots of walking (not necessarily a con for everyone)
  • No Chick-fil-a

My best semester of college yet

Going abroad with CEA CAPA in Seville was one of the best decisions I've made. I didn't know much about the city prior to spending the semester there, but I can now say with confidence that it is one of my favorite cities in the whole world. Not only was the place itself amazing, but CEA CAPA did such a wonderful job of getting to know everybody in the program, introducing us to the way of life there, and making us feel comfortable and seen. I learned so much during this semester and made some incredibly strong connections with CEA CAPA staff and students that I will hold on to for a long time. This program also gave me the once in a lifetime opportunity to complete an internship abroad. This was an invaluable experience that gave me so much insight into the global world of business and allowed me to grow immensely as an individual. Overall, this CEA CAPA program was one of a kind and so special to me, and I would highly recommend it to anyone eager to make connections with other adventurous students and the world around them.

Truly Life-changing!

During my time abroad, I grew as a student, professional, and person. I was pushed out of my comfort zone, which improved my self-confidence, independence, and global perspectives! I made some amazing friends and memories that I will keep with me forever. I also really enjoyed my courses. They embedded the culture and history of London in their curriculum and the professors made me excited to walk into class. Just like the staff, they were personable and welcoming! I would recommend this program to everyone and wish I was able to do it all over again!!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I ate a beef heart at a Portuguese restaurant!! It was delicious!
Pros
  • Welcoming staff
  • Interesting courses
  • Convenient Public Transportation!
