BEST Experience of my life

Having an internship experience in Lisbon, Portugal was by far the best experience of my life. Not only did the program give me a once in a lifetime experience to gain professional experience internationally, but I was able to become fully immersed in Portugal's beautiful culture. I also made LIFELONG friends and memories that I'll never forget. I think back on how nervous I was before going and laugh at myself because once I got there I never wanted to leave. I constantly think about how grateful I am that I was able to experience that.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers on this program would to not be afraid or nervous, especially when it comes to making friends. I went into the program without knowing anyone and can confidently say I left with life long friends. My group had a reunion in November and I'm still in touch with everyone. Don't be afraid to try new things and put yourself out there because it can be the most beneficial, fulfilling, exciting summer if you full immerse yourself in the culture.
Pros
  • Adventure
  • Personal Growth
  • Lifelong Memories
Cons
  • Want to move to Europe
  • Never went to leave Portugal
  • Miss all the friends you made there

Excellent

Absolute managed to find me a great internship in Lisbon! Additionally, they were very organized with the activities they planned, and if there was a problem they resolved it quickly. This internship helped me on an academic level but also helped me grow as a person. To this day I am still in contact with the friends I made in Lisbon, so it is an experience that is worthwhile. Also, Virginia, was really helpful with certificates and all the paperwork that were needed from my university. Totally recommend!!

Best summer ever

This summer in Singapore was the best experience. I’ve met so many new people and I met my best friend there. Also Singapore is a very good city to live in. It is very safe und clean. The city is so beautiful and divers. The accommodation is beautiful and in the center of the city. The club is only a ten minute walk away. The food is so great and cheap. You can get for 7 SGD Michelin star soup dumplings.
I learned how other Company’s work and what are the differences in the working cultures.
If you have the chance to go to Singapore, then do it. You will not regret it.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Fried carrot cake
This is a salty and spicy dish with no carrots. Very strange!
Pros
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Improve English skills (for non-native speaker)
  • Have the summer of a lifetime
Cons
  • It was too short ;)

My time in Japan

Overall, my experience in Japan was one I will never forget. The people, environment, and job experience I gained are all aspects that went beyond my expectations. The staff was very kind and supportive, and my fellow interns were also great and I still keep in touch with them to this day. Lastly, the job experience I had allowed me to easily land an internship for my Junior year summer at a major firm in my industry. The program was a great way to experience the country and I would recommend it.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I could change one aspect of my time in Japan, I would go out on more solo trips. There were days when my peers would be busy with work and I had free time but chose to stay in rather than go explore out of fear of going somewhere unknown alone. Looking back, those days seemed wasted as I had the opportunity to go explore more places beyond the area where my hotel was located and find something unexpected.
Pros
  • People: Both the staff and other interns were great
  • Environment: Tokyo is a great city with so much to explore
  • Food: Every bite was amazing
Cons
  • Weather: towards the later half of the internship it got very humid and I did not prepare for it

Barcelona Marketing Internship

The programme was amazing in every respect. The internship itself gave me lots of insights through having many tasks given to complete over the two months such as social media, blog posts, new website content, emailing clients and providers, creating Canva presentations for clients - I even got to go in a hot air balloon as part of the job.

With organised activities through Absolute Internship, we were always doing something, from weekend trips to Montpellier and Valencia, to day trips to a water park and Costa Brava, it was a fun-packed adventure.

Loads of food to try like Paella, Churros, and Crema Catalana!

Barcelona is a safe city with loads to do and explore. Take every opportunity!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take every opportunity given to you, explore as much as you can, immerse yourself in the culture, ask loads of questions at work, try out the delicious food!
Pros
  • Safe city
  • Loads to explore
  • Great fun-packed programme
Cons
  • Wish I didn't have to leave!

Amazing experience!!

The programme with Absolute was a fun and a good learning experience.

The team leaders from Absolute were nice and helped adapt to being in a foreign country. They offered helpful advice and I was comfortable to ask them for any help if needed.

Absolute Internship is a wondeful company where I learnt a lot and 24/7 support was provided. The coworkers and my supervisor helped me adjust to the working culture in Spain.

An absolutely amazing experience, and one that I have made many memories from. Will be something that I never forget. Thank you so, so much 🙂

I had a fantastic time working an internship in Japan. The program I was a part of helped me not only grow professionally but more importantly personally and culturally. I had never been to Asia before but with the help from the program and activities they planned, I felt comfortable broadening my horizons and trying new things! Because of this program, I would most definitely go back to Japan and take friends and family with me to show them around. I cannot recommend this program enough and urge anyone interested to push themselves to partake in it!

  • Cultural activities
  • Help get you acclimated
  • Very friendly and always there to help
