Stockholm gives you superpowers!

The internship in Stockholm was literally the best thing I did in 2023 learning wise. I gained a lot of experience, improved my English, tried out a lot of new things (Bachata, Singing, watching floorball) and got to experience a lot of fun things. In retrospect, I'd probably try to go out alone even more to meet new people, but it was a lot of fun to work in Sweden and experience the flair of Stockholm. Absolute Internship made the introduction to the city, the housing etc. awesome, and it's really an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go outside. Be brave. I had a lot of fun when I went out alone to explore the city. Go do some activities that you'd usually do in your city, and try out new things as well. My biggest lifehack: Going to a social dance class (Bachata, West Coast Swing etc.) is the hidden tip for meeting a lot of super cool people extremely fast.
Pros
  • Unique Experience
  • Personal Growth in all areas
  • Princess Cake
Cons
  • Already over
  • I want to go back
  • The smell of Surströmming

Singapore was an amazing experience

Singapore was an amazing experience. My favorite part was getting to travel to other countries on the weekends. I think placement could have been a bit better. I enjoyed the people I worked with, but I did not enjoy the work I was doing. I think a lot of us struggled with that. The communication before the trip wasn't very effective either. I was called the wrong name, wasn't told when to book my flight, and wouldn't receive responses via email for weeks. All of the activities we did in Singapore were fantastic though. I really enjoyed it, and it was an overall great experience.

Best Decision I’ve Ever Made

I decided to study abroad during the winter quarter of my senior year of college. I initially wanted to take courses at a university in Spain, but a friend of mine recommended I looked into an internship. That’s when I found Absolute and the amazing team that runs it. I was able to gain crazy experience at a tech startup, made life long friends (who I’m flying to NYC to see for the 3rd time since the internship), and had super fun activities that were planned by absolute. If you’re reading this and you’re unsure if you want to go for any reason, just go. Trust me. If finances are an issue I highly recommend speaking with your college and Absolute, as there are options available.

My experience with absolute internship exceeded any expectations I had! From the moment I reached out for more information to arriving in Barcelona was such a smooth and fun process. You can tell the absolute internship team puts in so much work to make sure you have a great, stress free internship experience! My time in Barcelona was amazing!! So many great memories and friends made along the way that I will cherish for the rest of my life! My internship taught me more than I ever thought it would. The experience, skills and knowledge I gained from my internship allowed me to get my dream job back home. If you have any doubts or are unsure if you should take part in this program I promise you it will be the best decision of your life!!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve racking part for me was being in a Spanish and Catalan speaking country and not knowing either of them. My nerves quickly went away when arriving in Barcelona you definitely pick up on things while you’re there. Everyone was so friendly and worked with you.

Lovely experience

I had the best time in Japan with Absolute Intership. I spent two months in Tokyo and interned in a marketing consulting firm that Absolute Intership found for me.
They did a wonderful job at matching me to the company. I had the opportunity to grow professionally with amazing co-workers.
Moreover, the team took care of everything, from accomodation and intership placement to cultural events and weekend trips, as well as practical needs such as sim card and transportation card.
What made the experience so special was not only the opportunity to experience the Japanese culture and work environment but also meet people from all over the world. 100% would recommend this experience to students who are want to build their resumes and are eager to travel.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would stay longer

BEST Experience of my life

Having an internship experience in Lisbon, Portugal was by far the best experience of my life. Not only did the program give me a once in a lifetime experience to gain professional experience internationally, but I was able to become fully immersed in Portugal's beautiful culture. I also made LIFELONG friends and memories that I'll never forget. I think back on how nervous I was before going and laugh at myself because once I got there I never wanted to leave. I constantly think about how grateful I am that I was able to experience that.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers on this program would to not be afraid or nervous, especially when it comes to making friends. I went into the program without knowing anyone and can confidently say I left with life long friends. My group had a reunion in November and I'm still in touch with everyone. Don't be afraid to try new things and put yourself out there because it can be the most beneficial, fulfilling, exciting summer if you full immerse yourself in the culture.
Pros
  • Adventure
  • Personal Growth
  • Lifelong Memories
Cons
  • Want to move to Europe
  • Never went to leave Portugal
  • Miss all the friends you made there

Excellent

Absolute managed to find me a great internship in Lisbon! Additionally, they were very organized with the activities they planned, and if there was a problem they resolved it quickly. This internship helped me on an academic level but also helped me grow as a person. To this day I am still in contact with the friends I made in Lisbon, so it is an experience that is worthwhile. Also, Virginia, was really helpful with certificates and all the paperwork that were needed from my university. Totally recommend!!

Best summer ever

This summer in Singapore was the best experience. I’ve met so many new people and I met my best friend there. Also Singapore is a very good city to live in. It is very safe und clean. The city is so beautiful and divers. The accommodation is beautiful and in the center of the city. The club is only a ten minute walk away. The food is so great and cheap. You can get for 7 SGD Michelin star soup dumplings.
I learned how other Company’s work and what are the differences in the working cultures.
If you have the chance to go to Singapore, then do it. You will not regret it.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Fried carrot cake
This is a salty and spicy dish with no carrots. Very strange!
Pros
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Improve English skills (for non-native speaker)
  • Have the summer of a lifetime
Cons
  • It was too short ;)
