I had an amazing experience with Absolute Internships.

I was a little disappointed when the time came to start my internship because I had switched to the remote program because of the COVID-19 pandemic and I had lowered expectations of what I would gain from this experience. However, this internship was by far the most enriching time of my life. My host company and Absolute made it feel like I was learning and working right beside them from halfway across the world. I got the chance to take on so many new responsibilities and I gained immense amounts of confidence in myself, my work and my professionalism skills. Absolute also did a great job making me feel supported throughout my internship by staying in touch with me to make sure my placement was going well. Thanks to this internship I feel much more confident and prepared for enter into the workforce of the professional world.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
My supervisor gave me the task of interviewing a client for a Q&A and pitching a story to a magazine. I didn't have any real experience with this kind of work but my supervisor gave me the proper guidance before she stepped away and trusted me with this important work. Which in turn made me trust in my own abilities in a way that I had never been able to before.

Great Scholarship Experience

I managed to receive the full scholarship for the remote program which is what I would recommend doing if you are like me- a student with not a lot of money looking for experience. The Absolute Internship team are always very helpful and you can reach out to them at any time to email or arrange a call. It is a great way you can gain lots of knowledge inside of a business for example marketing and what goes on behind the scenes. The remote program is good for in covid times which is the program I am specifically talking about here :)

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
What the inside workings of a business looks like.

An incredible rewarding experience!

Interning with Absolute Internship has been an incredible experience! Absolute has allowed me to work remotely for a company based in London with ease and support. Being an intern at an online law firm was something I never thought I would be able to do as an undergraduate student. Thanks to the resources provided by Absolute Internship and the amazing team members and mentors that gave me assistance throughout the entire process, I was given an offer that catered to what I was looking for. My journey through Absolute Internship has been nothing but positive and exciting. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explore the legal field and work towards my professional future!

Marketing program

My experience was successful, as it was my first time working abroad and in the English language was an step forward for me and try to work in another country is very important for me as I could gain a lot of knowledge. Gaining experience on my CV abroad is vital for my future if I want to work in another country specially in UK which it is my goal. The company was kind with me every time and every moment I was comprehensive by them , and I had a good welcoming. I would recommend to everyone to do this step in theirs lives and have this experience as it is good to do a step out of your comfort zone.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would change the department, not because I didn't like the marketing department, only because I want to know and learn more about other departments inside the companies.

Remote program amounted to almost nothing except wasted $$$

This program was said to be a remote program that would partner me with a company located in Singapore. After being partnered with them they told me I would be working with their North American branch... This was not terrible seeing as the time zone would be the same as mine. However, after a week into the internship it was clear that HR had dumped me on the marketing team without the marketing team having a plan of what to do with me. My marketing supervisor was good to work with and did what he could with me, but it was a tough situation for him.

What would you improve about this program?
Vet the participating companies better beforehand.

Remote Intern

According to Molinksy’s definition, global dexterity is the ability to adapt our behavior within a foreign culture without losing our authentic selves in the process. In other words, it’s about “fitting in without stepping too far outside our personal comfort zone.” It’s not enough to recognize the cultural differences; what’s more important is that we need to apply our awareness and knowledge to real actions. And this remote internship gave me an opportunity to do that. During the internship, I stumbled to learn about the differences and uniqueness of the social media culture in Japan. I also enjoy this learning process since I have a vast interest in what I’m assigned to do and I’m also curious about different points of view of looking at social media. This has been a rewarding experience for me.

Remote Internship in Hong Kong (from Italy)

I did the remote internship in a multinational company. the company was based in Hong Kong, but I worked from Italy. It was undoubtedly an experience of great value. I dealt with employer branding within the HR team. I learned a lot about the subject but above all I learned how to work remotely, in another area of the world, with different hours, and with a very different culture. All of this made this experience important for me and for my career. I highly recommend this experience to those who want to get involved and know how to appreciate the stimuli coming from the context that welcomes them.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Open your mind to all the stimuli you receive, be curious and do not stop to do only what is required of you because you can learn much more. Be curious and try to understand not only what is required of you, but also the values of the company, the values of culture. Reflect on what you learn and be aware of the value this experience can bring to you.

Madrid Internship 2017

I did an internship in 2017 and as I took a break from school during the summer, and went to Madrid from my internship program, my biggest challenge was accepting and finding comfort in being uncomfortable. However the colleagues and community were able to be there to talk to keep going though it--because in reality, we all have that connection with our peers to get through accepting change

This support and opportubity helped me grow into the professional I am today. You have to make the best of it!

The one piece of construcrive feedback for absolute is I think there needs to be better connection with the intern and the hosting company. While interning, I did good work, and enjoyed my work, and did what they asked; however, only sat down with the manager once or twice all summer to go over things. In my opinion for the biggest fruit, getting those touch bases to maximize your presence as an Intern would have been the best, and I feel absolute can help broker that relationship of leadership.

Otherwise, the summer went excellent. I miss it rather often and hope to get abroad in the futhre for more work, travel and more.

Oh and I miss the Jamon dinners with the Absolute crew!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Any tapas in general were unfaimilar but some had baby eel and anchovies but nonetheless were really good.

Outstanding experience

I was placed in a wonderful company in the UK and had a very educational and eye opening experince. My placement advisor was extremely helpful during the application process and communicated everything I needed clearly, he was also veryreceptive to my concerns and took not of everything I wanted in an internship. I was helped up till my interview with the company after which I started my internship. Even though it was online, which I was pretty skeptical of considering my major is very hands on (mechanical engineering), I ended up learning so much more than I could've imagined, including softwares and skills. The fact that it was remote allowed me to be close to family and participate in other functions locally as well. The career and development workshops were awesome too!

What would you improve about this program?
One thing I would improve is the ability to see the companies that are open for interning with beforehand wile still applying.
