What would you improve about this program?
To enhance the effectiveness of teaching theories, educators should consider integrating insights and methodologies from Jeremy Harmer's foundational texts, such as "The Practice of English Language Teaching" and "How to Teach English." By focusing on a communicative approach that prioritizes student engagement, Harmer emphasizes the importance of adapting teaching materials to cater to diverse learner needs and contexts. Incorporating strategies like task-based learning and learner autonomy from Harmer’s work can lead to a more dynamic classroom environment. Furthermore, utilizing multimedia resources and authentic materials can deepen learners' understanding and foster greater motivation. Continuous professional development based on the principles found in Harmer's books will equip teachers with innovative techniques to foster critical thinking and creativity among students, ultimately leading to a more enriching educational experience.

Review on level 5 TEFL course

I chose this course after researching various TEFL programs. My main priorities were international recognition and a reasonable price, and this course met both. The content was useful and engaging, and the support team was incredibly helpful—they answered all of my questions quickly and clearly. I'm very thankful for their support. The platform was also user-friendly, which made the learning experience smoother. I hope to find international job opportunities with my certificate. Overall, I’m happy with my choice.

Level 5 TEFL Course

The structure of the course is incredibly well written and thought out. The layout of the course is incredibly helpful and prepares you so well for the all the assignments that they test us with, I felt more than relieved to know that they prepare you as much as possible before tackling the assignments they give you. In addition, the course feels like it is constantly updated to include new teaching resources, materials, the use of AI and available job listings. Truthfully, they have eased any and all anxieties I had about what this course would entail and what my future look like.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Before I went to the 10h in person class, I let my nerves and anxieties get the better of me and thought that our teacher Martin, was going to tell me that I could never become a teacher, let alone one that teaches English. However, after meeting new friends and realizing that we all seemed to feel the same. A lot of my nerves disappeared and I felt like I could enjoy the class for what it is and build my confidence in the classroom too.
Pros
  • Simple
  • Understandable
  • Helpful
Cons
  • It can feel long

Excellent course content

I recently completed the Level 5 online TEFL course with The TEFL Academy. It was very difficult for me to manage between studying taking care of my child and a job, but the course content was engaging enough to keep me hooked and motivated to complete the course. The course provided me with plenty of resources and introduced me to lesson planning concepts that are efficient and effective. I have already applied the concepts that I learnt, and the lessons have become more fun and engaging for both me and my students.

The TEFL Experience

This learning to teach English as a foreign language experience has been a very relaxed one. I did not have to leave home, South Africa, to engage with the content. The staff support was amazing, agile, and friendly. The content was a gradual build-up of stuff I knew and a lot of material that developed my English grammar and increased my confidence in teaching the language. Through this learning experience, I am making inroads to travel overseas as I am currently applying to teach English abroad. I am feeling positive as one with a new lease of life🙂

What would you improve about this program?
I am happy there is a complementary program (course) that involves 6 hours of practical teaching. I would be even happier had here was an option that incorporates the practical course with the main (content) course.
Pros
  • Studying at home
  • Self-pacing
  • Deeper knowledge of English grammar
Cons
  • Lengthy content

Informative and exciting!

The TEFL Academy was absolutely fantastic in providing the necessary information needed to become a qualified TEFL teacher. I also had the opportunity of attending the 19 hour practical lesson which made a big difference in how I approached my assignments. It created a solid foundation for the coursework and I am grateful I could afford this process.

Not only was the coursework challenging, but it was also simplified in an applicable manner.

I will continue to recommend the TEFL Academy to anyone who is interested in following the TEFL route.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
The one thing I would change about this course is my own approach to it. Once I got into the course I enjoyed it so much. However, at the start I just viewed it as another course to study and did not invest myself as much as I should’ve and could’ve. This process could’ve been more enjoyable if I did not stand in my own way.
Pros
  • Academically challenging
  • Supportive staff
  • Interesting content
Cons
  • My initial negative attitude
  • Not receiving percentages on my assignments
  • Nothing else

I’d recommend this course to anyone.

This is a great course. The lessons are very informative and the website/student zone is really well put together and easy to use.

The grading is done really quickly and each of the assessments comes with clear and concise instructions.

I completed my course whilst travelling through France. It is an excellent qualification accessible by all.

I would recommend this course to anyone, or any age. It is a really versatile qualification to have, particularly if you want to travel and work at the same time.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Bringing a dog back from the Middle East.

It was such a stressful and complicated experience, but after leaving Abu Dhabi I was never going to leave her. So, we flew back to the UK together ❤️🐾.
Pros
  • Easy to use website
  • Quick grading
  • Clear instructions for the assessments
Cons
  • Not being able to access the following assessment until completing the first one.
  • 6 months expiration date, although extensions can be purchased.

TEFL Level 5

I recently completed my TEFL Level 5 certificate. I was a bit bummed that I didn't do the level 5 or know about it earlier because it had a lot of the work in that I had already completed in the normal 120 hours TEFL course. So it's better to just do the level 5 from the beginning. The TEFL Academy has a great support system they respond to your requests really quickly. I actually forgot to extend my time to complete my certificate, and two weeks later, they were still willing to help me without charging me extra.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I was stressed about the grammar , I'm a native English speaker. And the grammar in English can sometimes be somewhat challenging. I just bit the bullet and did it 🙃
Pros
  • Can do the course at home
  • On your own time
  • The tests are done at home
Cons
  • It’s similar to the 120 hr TEFL course
