About Program
This two-week study abroad program in Belize is designed for undergraduate and graduate students ages 18 and up who are interested in speech-language pathology, speech therapy, audiology, communication sciences and disorders, special education, or related health science fields. Ideal for students exploring a future career as a speech-language pathologist, this program offers the opportunity to learn alongside ASHA-certified SLPs, Therapy Abroad staff, and local professionals in a supportive, hands-on international setting. Students gain meaningful clinical observation experience, professional development, one-on-one mentorship, intercultural learning, and practical exposure that is rarely available in the classroom. Through community-based activities, students develop a deeper understanding of global health, disability services, cultural humility, and family-centered care while supporting children with communication needs and their families in Belize.
This program offers hands-on speech therapy experience in Belize, blending clinical learning with cultural immersion and adventure.

Response from Therapy Abroad
Hi Allison. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We try hard to make sure our programs are both fun and academically challenging and I wish you had more fun on your program. The extreme heat definitely doesn't help, but we could have done more to help support you and the group. I am going to personally make sure that our team looks into more activities and extras to keep everyone engaged, exploring, and trying new things. I will also look into making sure that we add a little more variety when it comes to food. Thank you for choosing Therapy Abroad and all the best in your academic journey. Please dont hesitate to reach out anytime.- Chad Allen/ Co-Founder & Director
