Study Abroad Puerto Rico Universidad Albizu San Juan/Mayaguez

One of the most memorable trips I have ever taken in my life. I was looking for new ways to challenge myself as a Hispanic/bilingual graduate student and saw this opportunity as a way to get out of my comfort zone. The study abroad program in Puerto Rico has strengthened my skills as a bilingual therapist and improved my ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking communities. Hats off to Chad and Matt who made this trip one of the most memorable moments in our journeys, careers, and lifelong memories.

Albizu University Collaboration Therapy Abroad, Puerto Rico

Traveling has always been a goal of mine. When I discovered the opportunity to study abroad, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue. Being able to mix my passion for exploring the world with my love for the field of speech and language pathology was an absolute dream experience! Not only have I gained lifelong colleagues, but also forever friends.
I enjoyed learning more about the history of other cultures and immersing myself in it.
Thank you to Matt and Chad for making this process so enjoyable by accommodating to our needs!

Study of Broad Puerto Rico

Chad&Matteo were the leaders of our group, in my experience with them. They both did an excellent job of having tourist spots picked out such as food reservations or historical site options relating to the cultural experience within the country visiting, while keeping in mind of the group/students interest.
From getting to know the group leaders establishinig a good rapport with the group leaders then transitioning to activities planned out for made the experience even better. By going on this study of abroad trip this has easily been one of the best experiences of my life.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment was getting the chance to surf at one of the beaches in Puerto Rico!
Pros
  • Making the experience safe.
  • Having options to pick from.
  • The rapport established between the group leaders and the students.
Cons
  • Getting more of a feel in terms of the food places from that particular country.
  • More opportunities to travel with the van near housing/hotel area.

Thailand UWEC AAC Program 2023

Therapy Abroad does such a great job organizing time to work with local organizations to provide therapy, go on fun excursions, and have unique cultural experiences specific to the country you visit. Safety, housing, and food has never been an issue when traveling with Therapy Abroad. They provide great communication and care for the students, supervisors, and facilitators. Reflecting back on my trip, I learned so much about speech therapy from my peers and supervisors. Working with kids at the Dulabhatorn Foundation in Thailand made me increase my love for this profession even more and in so thankful I was able to have such a wonderful experience.

Pros
  • Meeting new people
  • Experiencing a new culture
  • Expanding my clinical speech therapy experiences
Cons
  • Expensive flights

Physical Therapy

Therapy abroad helped me in so many ways! I learned so much about the physical therapy profession and the amazing people of San Ignacio, Belize! I was very excited to learn about the culture in Belize and got just that! Being able to be exposed to such a diverse and medically complex population was absolutely vital in my experience with therapy abroad! I was able to grow, learn, and adapt from patient to patient. This would not have been possible without therapy abroad! I absolutely would recommend therapy abroad to anyone and fully plan on attending again!

Pros
  • Encouraging and optimistic staff
  • Easy and professional communication
  • Runs smoothly

Therapy Abroad Physical Therapy in Belize!!

As a physical therapy student, I highly recommend taking a service trip with Therapy Abroad! Everyone we interacted with was extremely helpful, friendly, and excited to have us in Belize! The lectures we had on the country's culture and healthcare were very informative and useful as we interacted with people in the community. Treating all of our patients in various settings was my favorite part of the trip because we got to build relationships with them and other members of our group!! I also enjoyed sightseeing within San Ignacio and eating dinner in local restaurants each night! Therapy Abroad helped everything go so smoothly!!
