I loved the TEFL program with Lewis. He prepares you well for practical teaching with English learners. The program is intensive but engaging and enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to teach English. There were a lot of opportunities to teach real students during the course. We had a lot of fun as a group, and it made a full day of classes bearable. This class will give you the most effective way to teach English as a second language. Maximo is also super helpful with housing and many other things necessary to take the class.

This was an excellent TEFL certification course overall! The first two weeks were quite relaxed, allowing students to gradually adjust to the teaching concepts and methodology. However, the final two weeks became extremely intensive - expect back-to-back assignments, lesson planning tasks, and teaching practicum preparations. While challenging, the workload ensures you're fully prepared for real classroom teaching. Our instructor was fantastic - patient, engaging, and always available to clarify doubts. The course materials were comprehensive and practical. Just be warned: you'll need strong time management skills during those final weeks. Despite the intensity, I finished feeling confident in my teaching abilities.. Definitely worth the effort for anyone serious about teaching English abroad!

A definite, need to do the course, and a great place to do it. the TEFL course was a really difficult course, never thought learning to teach my native language would be so difficult.

The teachers and course format were excellent. Maximo Nivel has a fabulous, friendly, helpful staff and a great swimming pool . Free coffee and tea all day from the snack bar, Costa Rica is roasting hot in March, and you have to know the homestays are not air-conditioned, the classroom, however, has a new air conditioning unit, which make are the hard work a bit more bearable.

I did TEFL in Quepos, Costa Rica with Maximo Nivel. I'm so glad I did it here, in a safe, friendly town 3 km away from the beautiful Manuel Antonio. I have learnt so much in such a small amount of time, a very rewarding experience. The workload is intense, there's a lot to do, but it is completely worth the fight. Included is 10 hours of practical teaching which is included in the course, which acts as a launchpad for your TEFL career. The course was amazing, and so were our trainers, Lewis and Christina! Maximo Nivel's On-site TEFL course is so enriching! The course is challenging and so valuable. The TEFL trainers are highly trained and experienced ESL teachers and will teach you all the skills you have to have to be an excellent ESL teacher while using these same skills during your classes to teach you. Ever since the first few days practical teaching experience was present on the curriculum of the course and you experience teaching according to the EFL methodology. Lewis Murphy is an excellent trainer and all the people at Maximo Nivel are just as excellent, from Karen, the director, to all the people working at the front desk and all the staff. Going to Costa Rica for the TEFL course has been one of the best decisions of my life so far. And the facilities here are absolutely life-saving, especially during the practical teaching week. The pool and cafeteria area are the best places to hang out during your break between classes. You can get a tan, and have some laughs with friends you make within the institute! Within Maximo Nivel, there are other programs that invite volunteers to also hang out! The staff helps accommodate your commute to and from the airport and they also assist with your living arrangements! Traveling abroad for an English teaching course can be scary but with the staff's support and the best instructor there is, you're in great hands coming here.
