The course was presented in an easy to follow structure. It did not seem overwhelming and scattered. Some of the assignments are a little difficult but they provide you with templates and resources that help guide you. The last assignment can be a little overwhelming and there is a lot of moving parts but if you apply your knowledge correctly then you can get through it. I didn't use any of the online assistance because i didn't need to but it is there for you. They have extensions in case you need to extend your enrollment which was really nice. The only problem I had with them was sometimes I would not get responses back within 24hrs when trying to re-enroll. But they made sure not to charge me when I went over the enrollment date. Great course and I learned a lot. I am glad the assignments were a little difficult because now i feel prepared.

The Level 5 TEFL Course (168 hrs) online is well structured. Content is relevant and there are lots of quizzes and additional study resources embedded in the course. The assignments are well designed and the course is easy to follow through when you're studying independently. Support team is responsive and online learning platform is user friendly. There's sufficient time for completing the course while you're juggling with other commitments or work. You can also request for extension if you need to. There are multiple trials for the graded part of work, and you receive plenty of content and resources for learning and completing the graded work to get your certificate. Overall; it was a good experience and the course offers relevant learning content.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

You can choose to take the course in classroom which is shorter in duration or you can stretch it by taking it online.
If you're taking the course online and also working or juggling with other work, you'll need to plan your time well as there's time that needs to be allocated for grading apart from completing the units and the tasks.

I have yet to leave on my adventures but having done the course with TEFL Academy I feel confident in my abilities to be the best I can be. The course was well structured, balanced, had great tests and was loaded with extra reading and research activities. The support staff and staff and tutors are friendly, helpful and generally brilliant people. Their comments and constructive criticism made me feel confident and proud. I would recommend TEFL Academy to everyone that wants to teach and travel abroad.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I had submitted my last assignment and had no funds left for an extension and 3 days left in my account. I asked the support team if there was anything they could do and not knowing what their response would be felt lost. A day later I received an email from Fabiana Ruiz informing me that they have extended my course for a week free of charge. It really felt like I made the right choice in choosing TEFL Academy and that they supported my progress.

This was a great experience! Even though I am a native speaker, I still learnt a lot more about my own language! Bring on the TEFL! Bring on the travel! I truly think this is a brilliant course, and the best valued of its kind.
The assistance was one of the best things I found on this course. The instruction was immaculate, and allowed me to pass the course at my own pace. The 168 hour level 5 TEFL course also allows you to have 6 months to complete it, which is more than enough time! What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

The assignments! I went over the course and revised and I passed.

I came to Asia as a traveler interested in discovering a country that had always seemed surprising and intriguing for me.
I settled in Zhuhai in the south of the country and began to meet people that helped me discover my passion for teaching.
Job offers came up but I needed more experience. I did a lot of research about the best courses and I finally chose THE TEFL ACADEMY Online Level 5 TEFL Course without a doubt. The offer of courses is great, varied and the certificate is the most serious and recognized worldwide.
I finished Level 5 and it was really useful, interesting and challenging. I improve my skills and found a job in an English Center where I'm teaching young learners.

What would you improve about this program?

I think it could be a bit cheaper to be accessible for more people.

The course is a sound basis for aspiring language teachers, providing logically organised and academically supported information. The exercises and assessments guided me to develop practical skills in lesson planning, teaching and classroom management, anticipating realistic situations one would come across in their teaching practice. The course has also provided a wealth of further teaching resources for future use, which I have saved on my laptop. It is excellent value for money! Although I recognise that I need to practice to hone my skills even further, I now know how to exploit online and written resources to advance my practice and to meet identified needs of my future students. The course stressed the importance of student assessment and the need to tailor the teaching material to meet identified aims and objectives.

What would you improve about this program?

It met all my needs. Therefore, I cannot thing of anything that could improve on it, without incurring further costs and needing longer time to complete it.

The Tefl Academy provided me with a great experience. I was taught many valuable lessons, and my skills were sharpened. I enjoyed all the challenges and tasks that the course had to offer. I was challenged to learn more about a wide variety of teaching matters, and to sharpen my own knowledge and skills regarding the English language. During my studies with the tefl academy, I learned a lot about myself, and about how I manage to complete tasks under a set time-frame and stress. The Tefl Academy helped me along the way whenever i had problems or roadblocks regarding my work and assignments. I would definitely recommend this course to anybody who wishes to gain some extra skills in the English language. The course is well worth the money that it cost.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Assignment 2 was the most nerve-racking. I just had to push through it

I had been searching for online TEFL courses for 3 months. It was very difficult to make a choice. This online academy was amazing. I repeated everything which I had studied at the University plus I learned new techniques, methods and theory.
I had some difficulties with my second Assignment but they gave me three attempts to pass it. The tutor wrote some detailed recommendations on how to improve it and what to rewrite. So my second attempt was successful.
I really appreciate this course. Now I know how to write lessons plans, how to find useful material on the internet easily and how to cope with difficulties in class. They also gave me a list of special websites with worksheets, teacher's tips. You also can easily find a job through this site.
I really enjoy their online support. You always can create a ticket and ask them everything. The managers are very polite and intelligent.
Now I'm waiting for my printed certificate. They say that It may take 2 weeks to receive it.

What would you improve about this program?

Some assignments are difficult to pass on the first try. But it's worth it. Don't hesitate to contact the manager and ask questions. They will always help you.

Why did you choose this program?

Because of geological location; however, the reason I chose this particular program was in part due to it looking more official than the others. On my trip to a foreign country (South Korea), I was told by my friend that I was very knowledgeable about what I knew and wondered how I would do at teaching. With my current job, it made sense with the way the program was laid out.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The provider assisted with making me dig deeper into what I already knew about the subjects; on my own, it was up to me to decide mine on topics' materials for every assignment (the provider also assisted in the matter by providing templates). When it came to reviews, the assessor assisted in what I need to improve and what was good, if not great.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

If I had to give advice to someone that wanted this program, it would be to take their time. Although it can be done as quickly as needed, I would recommend them to take their time. Rushing will make them impatient and the longer lessons seem daunting, making one miss the simple things one already knows.

Be prepared to not have reviews on some of the lessons, as it will seem as they are abundant in the beginning.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

An average day, as it is an online course, is, however, the students want it to be. However, I would recommend doing half a lesson in 2 to 3 days, then the other. Even so, that is still pushing it for those who are struggling; spending 1 hr a day may be enough, depending on how much one covers in that hour.

I myself tried to cover a lesson a day; in the beginning, it worked out fine, until you get to the longer lessons; then you have to take into account the assignments, which would take almost a week to perform properly.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

When going abroad, I was fearing that I would not be able to answer the questions that were being asked. But after a while, I felt more comfortable about that.

There are still times I feel I would not have the answer to some questions, but I am comfortable now that, if asked a question I don't know, I could easily answer it with the appropriate response.

Is there any type of information you would like to point out to others?

Yes. I would point out that it would be a good idea to find out what requirements one needs for the teaching job they want. It is important to note that there is paperwork that is needed as well when going abroad that needs to be taken into account. These two things are easily missed in the thought process.

What is your favorite travel memory?

One of my favourite travel memories is when I was in Croatia with a friend and we decided to venture in Bosnia Herzegovina for a few days. We stayed in a crazy hostel, with even crazier owners! They brought us to a rave in a cave which was so much fun. The next day we got to explore Mostar and we also traveled to Sarajevo and did a walking tour. It was so interesting!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Getting to work for The TEFL Academy has given me opportunity to grow in many different ways. I speak to a range of different people from different places daily which is really interesting and sometimes we do have little chats about where in the world we are! I've also significantly improved my geography, which is handy!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

My favourite stories are from teachers who teach young learners. The students get so attached to their teachers and they always have gifts from them that the children have made! I love to see the photos also; we often share these on our social media (with consent). It's a good way to show current and future students the opportunities out there when they get their qualifications.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to go on our Vietnam internship! I've always wanted to travel to Vietnam because it does look absolutely beautiful, but the internship sounds like a very rewarding one also. Getting to travel the world by also helping those to further their future prospects is an amazing opportunity.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I think our company is unique in many different ways. Our organization is special because we really do believe in the power of education. We all, in some way or another, have traveled to many different places across the world, and the majority of us have taught also. This gives us a real insight into the actual world of TEFL and the teachers.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Being successful means a lot of different things for different people. I think a successful company really values what they are intending to do, and I believe The TEFL Academy does it in every way. My hope for our organization is that it grows and expands to cover all across the world!
