The online TEFL level 5 course was amazing. The content was relevant and interesting. The course was engaging and insightful. The end of unit quizzes aid in checking understanding. The assignments allow you to apply the knowledge and skills you have gained from the course whilst still allowing creative freedom. The support staff were fantastic in that they provided helpful feedback promptly. It was a fantastic course. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to teach English as a foreign language.

Really engaging and interesting course, the more difficult areas were explained clearly which really helped and the end of unit quizzes helped keep my motivation high. I feel far more capable in my English teaching abilities and am really excited about the prospect of using the knowledge I gained in this course across the globe. I would highly recommend this course because of the overall structure, content and helpful support network included. Any queries I had were answered efficiently and on time. Thank-you TEFL :)

What would you improve about this program?

I'm not sure if there is anything that can be improved!

I just want to say thanks... This course is giving me the life that I always dreamed of and the way that the course is structured is very efficient. From paying the course to getting the job as an English Teacher. This path is one of the best for people like me that love travelling and the English language as well. There is a lot of material in the course that we can learn from as teacher begginers, even the activities are fun and it makes the course very interesting and entertained. The assignments and tests are just the perfect way to start showing yoursefl as an ET, it really gives you the sensation of having to prepare a real class which is always cool.

What would you improve about this program?

A live chat.. It would be really cool to have someone available to chat with for any questions. Not 24/7 of course but whatever is possible

The website modules themselves are slow and occasionally interesting. You will spend 2 hours repeatedly clicking the Next button to get to the end of each module, only completing a few optional babyish questions in that time.

Then you get to the Assignments.
They are a complete disorganised disaster and have limited relevance to what you just read. You are given dozens of unconnected files and will spend more time trying to complete their pointless jigsaw than doing the actual assignments.

You're given an example to work from that is so generic as to be useless and are told not to most of the techniques you just spent hours reading through.

They have no interest in customer service, so just don't waste your time or money on this.

What would you improve about this program?

Putting a minute's thought into the format of the assignments could make it bearable.

We are very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the course that we provide. We receive almost exclusively positive feedback from our students, so we take negative feedback very seriously.

Our course is an accredited Level 5 TEFL Course and must meet stringent standards set by OFQUAL, Qualifi, and the DEAC. As such, all student’s assignments must meet the standards our accreditors provide us with. There is an assignment criteria provided to every student for each of the assignments on the assignment page, which all students are told to download and read. This demonstrates how clear the expectations and rubric are - there is nothing hidden.

Every student is different regarding how much tutor support they need. I encourage you to reach out to the tutors via the ticketing system any time you require them. Some need a lot of support and others never reach out at all. A student is allowed unlimited tutor support via email (the tutor ticketing system) however, it is the student’s responsibility to reach out to them when assistance is required. We recommend you utilise this any time you have any questions about an assignment or your feedback. The tutors are always very happy to help.

The course is a wonderful opportunity to get out into the world and see it. To experience different cultures. It aptly prepares you for what you will have ahead and makes sure that you understand the content you will be teaching. It additionally provides you with the necessary content to teach, meaning that you never have to worry, even if it's your first time teaching. Additionally, teaching English will broaden your own linguistic horizons, opening you up to languages and cultures from across that globe that you've never experienced before. Definitely something to try.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Make sure that you take full advantage of the opportunity that you have. It's a wonderful way to expand your horizons.

This online course was perfect for 2020 with the additional benefit of accessing online teaching practice webinars. They were a fascinating insight into people taking the classes from right across the globe all in a Zoom meeting together. It certainly gave food for thought about teaching methodology too.
The TEFL Academy course material was very well structured and easy to follow. The assignments were testing but fair. It was excellent value for what is offered and kept me motivated during lockdowns. Highly recommended.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I ordered pdf manuals which were excellent and maybe should have printed the whole thing at the start.. just for concrete reference. Still like books more than online to study!

After being evacuated from my post in the Peace Corps this was the perfect thing to do during quarantine. Since teaching in person is no longer an option for many of us... teaching online is the next best thing! The course content as well as the resources provided at the end of the course makes me feel confident about beginning teaching online and eventually having success in finding a EFL job overseas.

I was able to work on the course when my schedule allowed it, which surprisingly took less of my time than I anticipated. The course is thorough, easy to navigate, and the feedback you receive on assignments is very helpful

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Realizing that I only had a few days left to complete Assignment C since it has to be submitted two weeks before the end of the course date to allow enough time for grading. It was the day before Thanksgiving as well. Friends were in town. I sat down and worked non stop until it was completed.

Very well organised on line course with quick interactive quizzes and challenging off line assignments.

A very positive approach to teaching English and the different methods and approaches used. The course provides future teachers with the tools to give a variety of different lessons.

The course really encourages the learner to be active in class and participate in the learning process.

Feedback was very precise, helpful and encouraging.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering doing a TEFL course. It allows plenty of time to complete the course, juggle other activities or simply enjoy the great outdoors.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Waiting for the results of each assignment!! I spent hours doing each assignment; I really wanted to do well.

Why did you choose this program?

Because of geological location; however, the reason I chose this particular program was in part due to it looking more official than the others. On my trip to a foreign country (South Korea), I was told by my friend that I was very knowledgeable about what I knew and wondered how I would do at teaching. With my current job, it made sense with the way the program was laid out.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The provider assisted with making me dig deeper into what I already knew about the subjects; on my own, it was up to me to decide mine on topics' materials for every assignment (the provider also assisted in the matter by providing templates). When it came to reviews, the assessor assisted in what I need to improve and what was good, if not great.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

If I had to give advice to someone that wanted this program, it would be to take their time. Although it can be done as quickly as needed, I would recommend them to take their time. Rushing will make them impatient and the longer lessons seem daunting, making one miss the simple things one already knows.

Be prepared to not have reviews on some of the lessons, as it will seem as they are abundant in the beginning.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

An average day, as it is an online course, is, however, the students want it to be. However, I would recommend doing half a lesson in 2 to 3 days, then the other. Even so, that is still pushing it for those who are struggling; spending 1 hr a day may be enough, depending on how much one covers in that hour.

I myself tried to cover a lesson a day; in the beginning, it worked out fine, until you get to the longer lessons; then you have to take into account the assignments, which would take almost a week to perform properly.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

When going abroad, I was fearing that I would not be able to answer the questions that were being asked. But after a while, I felt more comfortable about that.

There are still times I feel I would not have the answer to some questions, but I am comfortable now that, if asked a question I don't know, I could easily answer it with the appropriate response.

Is there any type of information you would like to point out to others?

Yes. I would point out that it would be a good idea to find out what requirements one needs for the teaching job they want. It is important to note that there is paperwork that is needed as well when going abroad that needs to be taken into account. These two things are easily missed in the thought process.

What is your favorite travel memory?

One of my favourite travel memories is when I was in Croatia with a friend and we decided to venture in Bosnia Herzegovina for a few days. We stayed in a crazy hostel, with even crazier owners! They brought us to a rave in a cave which was so much fun. The next day we got to explore Mostar and we also traveled to Sarajevo and did a walking tour. It was so interesting!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Getting to work for The TEFL Academy has given me opportunity to grow in many different ways. I speak to a range of different people from different places daily which is really interesting and sometimes we do have little chats about where in the world we are! I've also significantly improved my geography, which is handy!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

My favourite stories are from teachers who teach young learners. The students get so attached to their teachers and they always have gifts from them that the children have made! I love to see the photos also; we often share these on our social media (with consent). It's a good way to show current and future students the opportunities out there when they get their qualifications.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to go on our Vietnam internship! I've always wanted to travel to Vietnam because it does look absolutely beautiful, but the internship sounds like a very rewarding one also. Getting to travel the world by also helping those to further their future prospects is an amazing opportunity.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I think our company is unique in many different ways. Our organization is special because we really do believe in the power of education. We all, in some way or another, have traveled to many different places across the world, and the majority of us have taught also. This gives us a real insight into the actual world of TEFL and the teachers.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Being successful means a lot of different things for different people. I think a successful company really values what they are intending to do, and I believe The TEFL Academy does it in every way. My hope for our organization is that it grows and expands to cover all across the world! Providing a course that helps individuals to further themselves but also to educate others is something that is very special.
