A great opportunity

I completed this course in order to gain further qualifications for the job I was already working at. I had a wonderful time completing this program despite taking a little bit longer than expected (I got married and had a baby in the meantime so ended up having to ask for several extensions) The course is extremely flexible which worked out great with all that was happening in my personal life. The material is accessible and presented in a very engaging manner, the test your knowledge quizzes at the end of each unit allow you to assess how well you've absorbed each unit as you go. The assignments are useful even beyond the course and the instructions for each assignment are clear and concise. I highly recommend the TEFL academy for anyone hoping to teach English abroad, they have a very thorough job board, and provide plenty of opportunities and internships to put your newly acquired knowledge to the test all over the world as well as online.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would have liked to have known about this program earlier in life because the travel opportunities and internships sound like a lot of fun and great for anyone's resume
Pros
  • Flexible
  • Affordable
  • Thorough
Cons
  • Expensive extensions
  • To get a Delta level qualification you'll need to buy add ons

Insightful course!

I liked that the course was entirely online. I was able to work on the it from anywhere in the world, as long as I had a device and an internet connection. I found the information interesting, which made the course easier to get through. The assignments were great practice for what we will be doing in real life as English teachers. They were graded within 1-3 days for me, which I felt was prompt. Some of the questions in the tests were a bit tricky but you can take the test as many times as needed. I appreciated that it wasn’t an overly easy course and it provided some challenge.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I was nervous about completing the assignments successfully! But I put in the time and effort and it paid off.
Pros
  • Flexibility
  • Online
  • Relevant information
Cons
  • Tricky test questions
  • Long instructions for assignments

My TEFL course experience

I absolutely loved my online TEFL course!

I challenged myself by taking the level 5 course so I could really boost my teaching credentials. I found some parts of the course quite difficult to grasp since many of the topics were new to me. In the end, the content of the course proved to be useful in rel-life teaching. The course was well organized and well-paced, and the assignments were relevant too. While this course did not have live teacher/student interaction, it's a good alternative.

This course is worth the time and investment, especially for those with a busy schedule.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve wracking moment was when I was about to submit my first assignment, as well as making the assignment itself. I kept having doubts about my answers and revised everything multiple times. But once I received the grader's feedback, it was very rewarding!
Pros
  • Good value for money.
  • Perfect for those who want to take a self-paced course.
  • Course content is both theoretical and practical.
Cons
  • Depending on one's schedule, the time limit for the couse might be too tight.
  • Course is mostly non-interactive (no live teacher or student interaction).
  • Some instructions for the assignments could be confusing.

TEFL Academy: A Standout Choice for Aspiring Global Teachers

What would you improve about this program?
As someone still in the process of preparing to teach abroad, The TEFL Academy has been an excellent first step. The online course is well-structured, practical, and easy to follow, making me feel far more confident about teaching English internationally.

That said, I think the program could be even better with live workshops, peer discussions, or support from alumni who have already successfully made the move abroad. Having access to real-world advice and networking opportunities would make it easier to bridge the gap between completing the course and applying for jobs overseas.

Overall, The TEFL Academy stands out for its thorough content and professional approach. If you’re just starting your TEFL journey like me, it’s a solid foundation—and I’m excited to take the next steps toward teaching abroad!
Pros
  • Well-Structured Content
  • Flexible Learning
  • Real-World Preparation
Cons
  • Limited Interactivity
  • "Peer" Support for Next Steps

Confident Online Tutor

I searched for a well-known qualification that I could use to enhance my online teaching. I wanted to be able to teach and study at the same time. Tefel offered this adaptable, yet world-renowned course allowing me to complete it within 6 months. I completed the course within 4 months. I enjoyed revising the material and finishing the assignments. I found the course challenging and yet managable and I loved the additional confidence that this course has given me. It is very inspiring to have the support and knowledge of trainers who were able to guide and motivate me to succeed. Thanks, to the customer support, and all the TEFL trainers.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment was during the 10-hour face-to-face session. We were a group of 20 adult inexperienced learners. I had to pretend that they were pre-schoolers and teach using TPR - something they had not experienced before. It was fun and hilarious. Thanks to my fellow students for being so engaging.
Pros
  • Immediate opportunities to find employment
  • Developing confidence
  • In-class, real-time, knowledge.
Cons
  • Difficult but challenging assignments
  • Wasting time during the 10-hour face-to-face session
  • This course requires very good time-management so that it is completed on time
