I have just completed the 120-hour TEFL/TESOL course with World TESOL Academy, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The number of online learning platforms available to us currently, seem to be on an exponential increase, which sometimes just makes it more difficult to choose where to start.

My experience was special and I benefited a lot from the course content which was well-constructed and great. I enjoyed the course and I could complete it in a few days because I already have some background knowledge on the topics explained in the course. The course was to the point because it mentioned all the areas necessary to become a good teacher and grasp the most relevant teaching skills. Today I feel that I am ready to start my journey teaching English as a foreign language online and be successful.

The program offered a thorough introduction to the fundamentals of teaching English. It covered essential topics such as:
Grammar and language: The course delved into both basic and advanced grammar rules, ensuring participants have a solid understanding to teach effectively.
Classroom management: Techniques for maintaining a productive and positive classroom environment were invaluable, especially when dealing with diverse student backgrounds.

This course was a great review of English skills that were left dormant since my High School days. Many of the topics and examples have already service to enhance our team's lessons to a group of refugees seeking to make a life for themselves here in the US. This course was practical, easy to follow, in-depth but not overwhelmingly technical, challenging but very doable for those "more seasoned" learners, like myself. :)

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Stick to it! I found it very helpful to type summary statements for each of the modules I completed in order to have a quick and ready reference tool to review before I began the next lesson. It helped as I progressed through each module as well as when I did my final review before the final exam.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

Going into my experience teaching English as a foreign language overseas, my biggest fear was not being able to effectively connect with and engage my students due to language barriers and cultural differences. I worried that my limited experience in new cultural settings might make it challenging to communicate and build rapport.

I overcame this fear by investing time in learning about the local culture and customs, actively seeking feedback from students and colleagues, and adapting my teaching methods to better suit their needs. As I gained more experience and confidence, I realized that being flexible and open to learning from my students greatly enhanced my teaching effectiveness. My views on the issue evolved as I understood that building relationships and understanding local contexts are key to successful teaching abroad.
