I appreciated the effectiveness of this course and the many example activities they gave which can be modified and personalized to your own teaching style. As a native English speaker there may be certain things we don't realize about our own language but the course helps to pinpoint some of that so we can be able to teach others. I wish there was more about teaching online but I found this a good basis for doing so and look forward to putting what I know to use. Shout out to Teacher Jay and his students, it was fun to watch the things I was learning being put into action.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

The most nerve-racking moment was going through the section on tenses! Of course we learn about them in high school but I realized how little I knew about how they were categorized.

Being a educated person who left high school in the very early stages of the 1990's, but had done a few studies at University and a Grad Diploma, I thought the TESOL 120 hour course will be a breeze.
It was rather slightly challenging and really took me back to some good thinking about the English language and I am fairly confident actually taught me a few new things.
The material was easy to follow, with a quiz to progress at the end of each unit or topic. The platform was excellent and provided structured dialogue, easy to understand format and clear tution.

I had one reason to reach out for help and was rather impressed with the responsiveness of the tutor.

Overall, I certainly recommend World TESOL Academy for the 120 hour teaching English course.

What would you improve about this program?

I would really like a PDF downloadable copy of the training material to keep as a reference guide.

Some of the quiz questions a little ambiguous at times.

It was easy to understand and engaging so I was able to keep up, I can't wait to put this to good use! There are even videos to go more in depth on the subtler teaching aspects as well as explaining proper classroom behavior and testing. I was a bit nervous to take this course but I can definitely say it's been a boon. There's tons of resources and support available so it made it much less daunting and gave me the confidence to persevere through a very rough patch in life. Putting this into practice should be easier now that I've put in the extra time and effort.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I'd take even more extensive notes, better to be over prepared.

I want to share my opinion about this platform and about the Tesol exam. I was doing my learning during one month, that was great idea, that I could learn whenever I want to. Also the platform was comfortable to deal with. There were no concerns during the learning, everything worked good. I really appreciate that in our time we have the opportunity to learn like this. I want to say thank you for those people who create it and gave us a chance to get all necessary knowledge online. And now I will be able to teach other people.

The course is easy and straight forward it gives one time to understand each and every lesson because you can take it at your own convenient time. I feel anyone able to speak English can manage to handle the lessons without any difficulties and without needing any help from the online tutors. The quiz at the end of each lesson is very helpful and easy provided you take some notes down as you progress with the lessons, i personally dedicated one hour thirty minutes, five days a week and this really helped me complete the course with ease.

I completed this course in March 2024. I was in need of an accredited TEFL certificate as my previous one (from a different company) had difficulties when I needed to authenticate it for overseas use. Several of my current coworkers have used this website to obtain their certificate, and they recommended the course to me.

This course provided useful information for teaching English both overseas and online. The website was easy to access and use. I will definitely recommend this to my other teacher friends who are in need of an accredited certificate.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Review the summary page at the end of each module, it will greatly help you during the quizzes.

I really enjoyed the course. It was fun learning something completely new and becoming more experienced. There were topics I knew well before the course though. So I had a perfect opportunity to brush up on those. The information is well-structured and presented. Taking quizzes after each module helps see if you did well. Real video lessons with professional teachers are good ways of gaining practice and experience. And each time you struggle to understand something, a helper is on hand. I recommend taking the course and improving your knowledge.

What would you improve about this program?

Some subjects are covered too carefully, e.g. parts of speech, and seating in the classroom; some are lacking in more detailed examples, e.g. teaching listening and writing to beginners, and introducing new words.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

Going into my experience teaching English as a foreign language overseas, my biggest fear was not being able to effectively connect with and engage my students due to language barriers and cultural differences. I worried that my limited experience in new cultural settings might make it challenging to communicate and build rapport.

I overcame this fear by investing time in learning about the local culture and customs, actively seeking feedback from students and colleagues, and adapting my teaching methods to better suit their needs. As I gained more experience and confidence, I realized that being flexible and open to learning from my students greatly enhanced my teaching effectiveness. My views on the issue evolved as I understood that building relationships and understanding local contexts are key to successful teaching abroad.
