Review of the course

I have looked into and taken a lot of Tesol classes offered by English language centers in Vietnam. I once came across a Facebook advertisement for the World Tesol Academy's Tesol course, but I wasn't sure if I should sign up for it just yet because I was still looking into other Tesol courses. However, I learned about the World Tesol Academy's Tesol course via a friend, and for a variety of reasons, I made the decision to register. WTS offers very affordable tuition assistance to anyone. Accepted and approved for use in numerous nations, and suitable for submitting a visa application. The program is appropriate for all levels and is incredibly clear, concise, and easy to understand. You have flexibility when studying whenever, wherever, and for however long it takes. For example, I study during breaks, in my free time, and when I go out for coffee with friends. I sincerely appreciate the assistance that the Tesol course from World Tesol Academy provided in educating me about English teaching and in earning a certificate that would facilitate my job search.

My experience

I am pleased with this course because it is quite affordable and easy to access. The convenience it offers makes it ideal for my schedule. I also appreciate the inclusion of videos, which enhance the learning experience. However, Iโ€™m not very satisfied with the "chat a tutor" feature. The tutors tend to provide answers on other platforms, requiring frequent redirection to external sites. This is both time-consuming and inconvenient. Additionally, the limited access to this feature is frustrating, and I don't understand why the hard copy certificate requires another payment. I also noticed some grammatical errors in the content, though it's not a big dealโ€”just being honest. Overall, Iโ€™m satisfied with the course.

A good TESOL course

The course covered the basics to make sure that you know what you are teaching. They also added online teaching to help you have more opportunities. I have been teaching for many years, and I still learned new and interesting ways to teach lessons. They gave examples on how to implement the theories, and included video demonstrations. The sections were dvided well so it was not overwhelming. They have chat support. They replied promptly and gave more details so I understood it completely. Thanks

Step by step to becaming a teacher

Before I started this course, I didn't have a clear understanding of how to properly interact with different groups of students. This course explains everything in detail, but more than that, there are also video materials that help you understand the material more fully. There is also support here, if you have any questions during the training, you can always contact us and they will definitely help you. I also particularly liked the fact that information is provided here that touches on all the questions that a teacher may have in the process of interacting with the class (up to the technical characteristics of the computer that is most suitable for work).
Many thanks to the creators of the course!

A Solid Foundation for Aspiring Teachers: World TESOL Academy 120-Hour Certificate

The 120-hour TESOL/TEFL certificate with World TESOL Academy offered a structured yet flexible way to dive into teaching English. I was initially concerned about whether it would provide the practical tools Iโ€™d need, but each module covered essential topics like lesson planning, student engagement, and classroom management. The format was self-paced, which allowed me to fit study time around my schedule.

One unique aspect was the course's affordability combined with comprehensive content that didn't feel rushed or surface-level. It was particularly helpful to have well-organized assessments after each module, helping reinforce what Iโ€™d learned. These quick checks allowed me to gauge my understanding and feel ready for each new section.

For those considering this program, I'd say itโ€™s ideal if you're balancing other commitments. However, adding more interactive elements could be beneficial. Overall, the course gave me confidence in teaching English and equipped me with the foundation and flexibility I needed as I start this career.

What would you improve about this program?
If I could suggest an improvement to the World TESOL Academy 120-hour TESOL/TEFL program, it would be to incorporate more interactive components, such as live feedback sessions, webinars, or interactive quizzes. While the self-paced format is incredibly convenient, having occasional live sessions or interactive elements could enhance engagement and provide immediate feedback, which would be particularly valuable for beginners. This addition could help solidify learning and create a more dynamic experience overall.
Pros
  • Flexible, Self-Paced Learning: The self-paced format allowed me to fit my studies around my schedule, which was perfect for balancing other commitments.
  • Comprehensive Curriculum: Each module was well-organized and covered essential areas like lesson planning, classroom management, and student engagement, providing a solid foundation for new teachers.
  • Affordable and High-Quality: Compared to other programs, this course offered great value without sacrificing quality, making it accessible and thorough.
Cons
  • Limited Interaction: The self-paced format lacked interactive elements, such as live sessions or real-time feedback, which could have enhanced engagement and supported learning more dynamically.
  • Minimal Practical Application: While the course covered theory well, it could benefit from more practical exercises, like mock lesson plans or classroom scenarios.
  • Basic Visuals and Media: The course materials were straightforward, but adding more visuals or multimedia content could make the learning experience more engaging and varied.

Learning with Value for Money

I am a native English speaker with a Masters's degree. I found this course easy to navigate. Being able to speak and write English does not mean that you instinctively know how to teach it. The course helped me to understand how foreign speakers would need to tackle grammar and how it could be taught. I learned several things that I did not know, such as zero and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Conditional sentences. I had never deconstructed this in my life! I had to do a little bit of extra learning from the web on modal verbs to understand how these work wrt the conditional. This area of the course could be clarified a little. I am also a little unsure about how I might teach a few other elements of grammar such as when to use, who, which, that. For the tense section I made my own table and set it out in a better and more logical framework, which shows that I must be a visual learner.

The section on teaching skills was thought provoking and helped me to think about my approach. Overall, the course gives an excellent introduction to the world of teaching English to speakers of other languages. It is excellent value for money.

What would you improve about this program?
Enlarge the section on teaching grammar, or alternatively make this an introductory course with an advanced grammar course to follow. This would be useful for teaching advanced French and German speakers who are very exigent on grammar questions in one to one classes
Pros
  • Easy to navigate, work through and pass
  • Affordable
Cons
  • As above

Excellent course

The course provides a good refresher on the basics of the English language and then turns its focus to providing everything you need to get started teaching English to foreign learners. The layout is very good and allows you to read through a few lessons, even if you have as little as 20 minutes to spare in your day! Great for someone starting out who may be employed and looking to change career. As long as you can spare maybe a half and hour here and there every week you can complete this course easily within the 4 month access period.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take your time, make lots of notes, and make sure you keep up the classes. 4 months can pass very quickly.
Pros
  • Easy to work through the material.
  • Course content is very relevant
