I chose to take up the TEFL course and with no regrets this really gave me great insight even as English is my first language, there was so much more to learn of.

The course was challenging to me and to me is a good thing, as it encouraged me to work harder. It had good content overall and a variety of activities to test your knowledge, clearly indicating where you needed improvement.

A wining point was the marking strategy was done on a positive note motivating better results. I found this very helpful as I was not being reprimanded for my mistakes but rather guided to the correct way.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Waiting to see if I passed an assignment . This was nerve wrecking as I am a new mom, a new home owner, a mourning daughter in law, a employee of construction and failing an assignment meant I needed to sacrifice the last 40 winks of zzz 💤 I had.

A very well thoughout course with well designed assignments to test you knowledge and understanding of the course and work you've learned thus far. I really quite enjoyed the breakdown of each of the units and breakdown within each unit was well thought through. The assistance provides by the Tefl academy was really good and surpringly quick response when help or assistance is needed. Would gladly recommend the TEFL academy to family and friends. Great course to do with a friend.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?

The in-depth analysis of the English language was widely discussed and well brought across throughout the course.

I have recently completed my Level 5 TEFL course, I had no clue what I was going to do with my life especially during Covid but now that I have completed the course I have the confidence to start teaching and now have an exciting journey ahead of me thanks to the TEFL Academy. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, it was interesting and had me wanting more. So thankful to have found this course I now have something to look forward to and can do this in the comfort of my own home. So excited to start my journey!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Take this opportunity and get a TEFL certificate, you can travel and earn some money while doing it. ;)

I decided to start a TEFL course during the Covid 19 pandemic. I am extremely thankful that I have chosen The TEFL Academy. The online course was extremely self explanatory and completely do-able. Course content was very interesting with a lot of interactive activities in each unit. I have gained much insight throughout the duration of the course and my future career options have now become very clear. The staff was also very helpful in managing student queries. I really enjoyed the course. I would recommend the course to anyone who is interested in travelling as well as teaching English as a foreign language.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I absolutely regret not knowing about TEFL earlier.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the TEFL academy.
I found the course to be satisfyingly challenging considering that it is a distance learning course- it wasn’t a walk in the park, but it wasn’t extremely difficult either. What I really liked about the course, is that whenever I did get stuck on something, the tutors were extremely helpful. They didn’t take long to respond to my quarries and they explained it perfectly which helped me a lot, especially during my assignment. It definitely was pleasant studying through the TEFL academy and I had no problems whatsoever. The only thing I could think of that they could possibly change, is to expose us more to online work related scenarios.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?

Definitely having to simplify my English and vocabulary a lot more. I didn’t think teaching foreign students would be harder than teaching an English class.

A great experience with many helpful and detailed assistance. The course was thorough and tested ability. The content that was covered in the course was found to be extremely useful and acts as great preparation for teaching English in a foreign country. Feedback from the invigilators was detailed and extremely helpful. The program also allows you to be connected to many other people that have completed the same course which could increase your global network. Overall, a great TEFL course experience that adequately prepares you for your travels.

What would you improve about this program?

The course tests were relatively complicated and the material did not always prepare you adequately to pass the tests on the first attempt.

I spent weeks and months searching for the perfect Online TEFL Course, and upon my research I had come across a plethora of TEFL Courses available, each come with their own merit but I was particularly impressed with the TEFL ACADEMY, the price for the course was reasonable, the support given by the staff to clarify things before I began was efficient and effective. The course material was thorough and comprehensive and the assessments really dragged you out of your comfort zone which was wonderful. The tutor and admin support from the TEFL academy staff was helpful and always good. The 20 hour teaching practicum was informative and amazing. I feel as though I am ready to teach the world ENGLISH! :)

What would you improve about this program?

I would like to gain more knowledge on Online Teaching.

I began this course with the intent of using the qualification to leave South Africa and nothing more. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself engaged by the material I was presented with. I was studying towards a Bachelor of Education a few years back but dropped out because of financial constraints. This course taught me more about language teaching than 2 years at university did. Now this is symptomatic of the failing education system within South Africa, but I feel that it also serves as a testament to the high standards that this course expects. I would highly recommend this course to anyone seeking to teach or to expand on their teaching knowledge.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Go in with an open mind and go in with the intent to learn and you will reap so many rewards from this course.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
