About Program

Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

Our course is designed with potential employers in mind. Within the industry, some employers prefer “hands-on” study rather than purely online. This is why our combined course provides 10 hours in the classroom with an additional 158 hours of online study. This course will give you the confidence you need for the classroom and allow you to have a competitive edge in the job marketplace.

The 10-hour weekend classroom course is designed to break down the fundamentals of TEFL. Within those 10 hours you will have teaching opportunities while also gaining knowledge from other students in the classroom.

This course is worth every penny - within two weeks of completing it I was able to secure my first job teaching online!
The course itself is challenging but the content is incredibly informative and the tutors are always willing to help and provide detailed feedback on your assignments.
The course prepared me more than enough to create fun and exciting lessons for my students, and I’m grateful for the job resource unit which helped me apply for teaching positions which legitimate companies.

What would you improve about this program?

Perhaps more practical assignments such as recording demo lessons

I took quite a while deciding what career I wanted to go into, however I have always had a great passion for teaching. I decided to proceed with the course through the TEFL Academy to kick off my career in teaching and also to travel! I have only completed the course within this year but cannot wait to start applying for the many jobs available on the TEFL website!

I loved this course and it was a great help! The content is very clear and is easy to follow, this is a very user friendly course and I personally think one of the best TEFL courses offered!

What would you improve about this program?

I would just like for the prorgramme to provide the marked assignments to the students instead of just the comments provided in order to see where marks have been lost.

Personally I think this is an excellent course and well worth the cost especially since theres often discounts. Support and feedback on this is excellent. The course material covers everything needed in a way that will not overwhelm you. Overall it's worth doing. It opens up a world of opportunities and will ensure life experience for all those who want to travel or simply work from home. The options are endless. I would recommend this for people of all ages as the site is user friendly as well.

Deciding to take the TEFL Online course from TEFL Academy was one of the best decisions I have made so far.

What would you improve about this program?

There is nothing I would like to improve about this program. It was fantastic.

I just completed my 168 hour course and I enjoyed the course. I learnt a lot. It was very well structured, informative and quite challenging. They covered all the aspects of not only teaching but also the history of the language which I found very interesting.The online platform was really easy to use and the support response was very quick. The weekend course was also really great. I came out of my shell and learnt about different ways to teach.It was worth every cent. I highly recommend doing this course with the Tefl Academy

I really enjoyed following the online course. The website and structure of the course is user-friendly and easy to navigate even if you are a novice at online learning. The course material and assignments are challenging and completing the course gives you a feeling of accomplishment - as if you have done a worthwhile qualification! I am excited to start applying my newly acquired skills and knowledge! I initially did the course to focus on online teaching, but now that I am looking at all the possibilities I have to admit that travelling overseas to teach is very tempting :-)

Perhaps build an online teaching experience / practical assignment into the online course.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The TEFL Academy provided me with everything needed to start my career as a TEFL teacher. Their resources were excellent as well as their services. They provided me with sufficient feedback, material and help when I needed it. All that was left for me to do was to apply myself to the best of my ability to pass the course.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
