Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

Our course is designed with potential employers in mind. Within the industry, some employers prefer “hands-on” study rather than purely online. This is why our combined course provides 10 hours in the classroom with an additional 158 hours of online study. This course will give you the confidence you need for the classroom and allow you to have a competitive edge in the job marketplace.

The 10-hour weekend classroom course is designed to break down the fundamentals of TEFL. Within those 10 hours you will have teaching opportunities while also gaining knowledge from other students in the classroom.

The course proved to be a bit more challenging than I expected (which is a good thing). Although my language has always been one of my top skills, I have learnt so much and expanded my knowledge about language during this course. The assingments are great, although they are a bit tuff and help a lot in order to fully understand lesson planning - making it so much easier when you have to do it for work. It is definitely worth paying a bit more to do the longer course (168 hour, level 5) through The TEFL Academy! It's the only one i would recommend.

What would you improve about this program?

The only thing I'd improve about this course is the clarity of the assignments and what are expected as this is not clear enough - maybe just a more thorough marking rubric to work against.

I have recently completed the level 5 (168 hours) Tefl course. I would highly recommend this course to those who are interested in teaching English as a foreign language. I found the course content vast, quite detailed and interesting on all levels. The tutors was extremely helpful, professional and willing to assist at all times. I particularly enjoyed being able to work through the modules at my own pace and found the activities at the end of the modules really helpful. Thank you Tefl Academy for the fantastic learning exprience and helping me make my dreams a reality.

The Level 5 TEFL Course (168 hrs) is compiled in a way which is easy to understand, comprehensive, resourceful and incredibly informative for anyone wanting to pursue teaching ESL. I had a great time learning of different ways to teach and interact with people of different backgrounds and levels of studying English. Working overseas also gives you an opportunity to travel, experience different cultures and different ways of living. I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to become and ESL teacher.

What would you improve about this program?

Not much, it was a pleasure studying with TEFL and I would highly recommend it to anyone who like to pursue a career as an EFL teacher.

Starting the TEFL Combined level 5 course was very exciting, I was very amped up and got really excited after completing each test after every module. The online instructions guide's very well and easy to follow. My advice is once you start your assignment don't waste time to complete them, they might seem difficult but once completed and you reflect back you will find your self actually think well that was easy. :-) Great study platform @The TELF Academy.

What would you improve about this program?

I would prefer more one on one time or make classes available for those who don't always have internet access this would be a great platform. It is also very encouraging meeting your fellow students and creating a bond for future travels.

This is the perfect TEFL course for anyone looking to teach online or in a foreign country. Easy to use interface, can be used on all mobile devices so you can complete your TEFL course on the go. The course also provides loads of additional helpful material and links to teaching aids that you can make use of while teaching. The end of unit tests provide good coverage of the material contained in each unit. The test questions are direct and unambiguous. The assignments are fun to complete and allow for individual creativity.

What would you improve about this program?

The assignments are lengthy and have been broken down into multiple parts. This can make it easy to forget to do something. There are loads of activities throughout the units which can slow progress, however they are not mandatory to complete.

I am currently studying bachelor of education in foundation phase but wanted to have a TEFL certificate as they work hand in hand and eill help me achieve my future planned adventures.I began my TEFL course in July and have just successfully completed it! The assignments were quite different to the usual because I had older people in mind instead of my usual 9 year olds! I have nkt begun travelling yet but I can't wait to use my TEFL certificate be it overseas in the future or online for now! - Meg

What would you improve about this program?

I would have liked even more interactive activities because I enjoyed the ones they had.

Great course, enjoyed the fact that I could take it at my own pace. When I ran out of time due to home pressures the admin staff were most accommodating to extend the course for a time period that suited me.
The assignments were not easy which made the course all the more worthwhile. It made me so a lot of my own research and helped me not be so scared of the grammar aspect of teaching English that I was very worried about. I enjoyed the course and will recommend it to my friends. Many thanks zzz

It has been brilliant learning with the Tefl Academy. The registration was easy and convenient and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of support from the staff. The course was well structured, and the contact session was an amazing experience. What would you improve about this program?

There isn't much, if anything at all, that I would change about this course. It is already a great product and I believe it can only get better. The course is well written, well structured, well presented, and the course presenters are very highly skilled. The course is course is great just as it is.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
