Volunteering with IVHQ in Bali

IVHQ was wonderful. The organization helped me step by step through the whole process to make everything as stress free as it could be. It was a wonderful experience and the Green Lion coordinators were amazing. They made sure we were all safe, helped us with anything we needed and made the stay as comfortable as possible for us. I met many people from around the world and made unforgettable memories and learned so many things from not just Bali and their culture, but from the other volunteers and the sea turtles

Pros
  • Safe
  • Coordinators are amazing
  • Learn new things
Cons
  • Have to be careful with the food you eat in Bali because it could make you a little sick
  • Very hot
  • You have to leave eventually :(

Bali turtle conservation 2023

Such an incredible experience. Got to meet amazing people and care for the beautiful turtles. The coordinators in Ubud and Nusa Penida were so friendly and helpful. The entire experience was so cool and IVHQ was so great leading up to the trip with the information and transport.
Being able to stay in such a feel good environment where everyone was up for a chat was amazing. The food was also very tasty and we were very lucky to get all meals provided. Having a private bathroom for just a few of us was also a plus.

Pros
  • the social side
  • helping the turtles in a beautiful location
  • Releasing turtles back into the ocean
Cons
  • Hot!
  • didn’t stay long enough
  • tad on the costly side but worth it

My most rewarding experience

This was by far my most rewarding volunteer experience. IVHQ does an amazing job preparing you for the best time of your life. I did the sea turtle conservation project in Bali and you get to not only watch these turtles grow up, but you get to be the reason they do. I would recommend this project to anyone who loves animals, especially our ocean friends. Not only do you get to be with the turtles, but you get to be within the culture of Nusa Penida. This culture was so beautiful to learn about!

Pros
  • Making friendships all around the world
  • learning about the culture
  • being able to have one on one time with sea turtles
Cons
  • I wish I stayed longer!!!

IVHQ is the BEST international traveling group! I loved how they made me feel super safe and supported while in Bali, Indonesia!😊

I felt super supported before, during, and after my travel to Bali, Indonesia by the IVHQ coir Katie and local staff! The accommodations were in a Viv late about 25 minutes from the Ubud and was safe, clean, and comfortable. My program was Teaching English for 1 week and I wish I would have stayed longer! The program and local people were amazing. The best part was rooming with other volunteers from around the world! I Created a great new friendship with someone from England and we plan to visit one another in our countries soon. I also plan to book another program with IVHQ asap!😊

Pros
  • Safe accommodations
  • Taxi service that works directly with the program which allowed for safe and easy transportation
  • Accommodations

I had such a fun time and had good support from the team helping with the organisation and preparation. The programme was so good and loved meeting people there. I did the teaching and the turtle programme and loved both working with kids and animals. The children were so excited to learn English and we had such a great time helping them learn and grow. On the weekends you also have time to explore the surrounding areas. I went to Bali and was able to go to gili for the weekend with friends I made out there. This means I get to volunteer and travel. It’s amazing.

Pros
  • Fun people
  • Learning new culture
  • World experience
Cons
  • Can be scary at times
  • Can miss home

You will not regret it

If you're on the fence, go! I was so worried about the location, the weather, the food, but I had the most incredible time. Real hands on experience with the turtles and lots of social time. The accomodation is really nice and you're really well looked after. You get weekends free so I managed to explore some more of Bali, which I was really grateful to have been able to do. The coordinators go above and beyond to organise things for you. Nothing is too much for them. One of the best decisions I've made.

Pros
  • Hands on experience
  • Great location
  • the people
Cons
  • none

Health Education Volunteer in Ubud, Bali

The Health Education Volunteer Program had provided an opportunity for me to promote health among children and adolescents, develop essential teaching and health education skills, and immerse myself in the rich culture and natural environment of Ubud. This reflective report highlights my experiences, observations, and the impact of this volunteer program on both the students and myself. Reflecting on my journey, I recognize the personal and professional growth I have undergone. Adapting my teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of the students, embracing cultural sensitivity, and learning from fellow volunteers have all contributed to my development as a health educator. These lessons and experiences will continue to shape my future endeavors in promoting accessible and inclusive health education. In conclusion, my health education volunteer program in Ubud, Bali has been a truly impactful and rewarding experience. It has deepened my passion for health education, broadened my cultural perspective, and inspired me to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I am grateful for the lessons learned, the connections made, and the memories created. As I move forward, I carry with me the knowledge that health education is a powerful tool for empowering individuals, fostering cultural understanding, and creating healthier communities worldwide.

One aspect that greatly contributed to this impact was the opportunity to meet and collaborate with volunteers from all around the world, such as Canada, Italy, Germany, and more. Getting to know volunteers from diverse backgrounds allowed us to exchange ideas, share experiences, and learn from one another. Despite our different nationalities, we found common ground in our shared passion for health education and making a positive difference. The cultural exchange enriched my perspectives, broadening my understanding of global healthcare practices and education systems. These newfound friendships have become a source of inspiration, motivating me to continue my efforts in health education and fostering a sense of unity among diverse cultures.
