I had a really great experience with them. During my time there, I learned a lot from both the internship and the culture of the place. The work helped me grow and taught me new skills that I know will be useful in the future.

One of the best parts was the people I met. I made friends with many kind and interesting people from different backgrounds. The coordinators were very supportive and welcoming. They helped me get used to the city and made sure I felt included in the activities they organized for the group. This made it much easier for me to adapt and enjoy my time there.

Overall, I feel very grateful for this opportunity. It gave me the chance to grow professionally, learn about a new culture, and meet amazing people. It is an experience I will always remember.

I had a blast getting to make friends and explore Japan through Beyond Academy. I learned a lot at my job, and I got to experience living in a foreign country. The community that Beyond Academy cultivated was amazing, and I never felt like I was alone. Getting to do multiple trips and activities each week kept me active outside of work. They helped me find a job that suited my career goals, and I was able to gain new skills in the workplace. Do not worry about not knowing the native language! Beyond Academy helps with any issues you have.

Tokyo was such a great city to do a summer internship in! So lively, so full of people and experiences.
From ten to five I was spending my time working in an office. My job was in a startup company, where I was helping with project management and marketing - all my coworkers were so friendly and enthusiastic! Outside of my job, I was hanging out with fellow interns from Beyond Academy, with whom we shared housing and were attending the organised events from the program. Overall, I can confidently say that it was an amazing summer, spent with so many interesting people and new experiences.

Going abroad alone can be a daunting experience especially for a journey where job is involved. Nevertheless, you can find a strong group of supporters who is like minded. You can always learn a bit of something from your peers to encourage you. It was also to learn business ecosystem from peer engagement

Finally, the community coordinator is amazing!!! The events they planed and coordinated were so much fun. They made event and logistics details so easy to navigate

The community events and activities were the highlights of my time in Tokyo. The community coordinators were lovely and helpful, which made things all the more enjoyable. The community was quite welcoming. I highly recommend attending events.

It was great to experience some of the traditional aspects of Japanese culture, such as the tea ceremony, while also being able to experience the more modern aspects as well.

My internship experience was less than stellar, but that can be chalked up to some companies being better than others. I still learned a lot and got to experience things I never would have been able to back home.

I’d always wanted to visit Japan, and when I started looking for a summer internship, Beyond Academy seemed like a great option and I’m really glad I went with them. It was my first internship and my first time traveling alone, so going halfway across the world felt intimidating at first. But having a built-in community through Beyond Academy made a huge difference.

The Tokyo community team was incredibly kind and welcoming, and it was great to have people to explore Japan with. Some of my favorite events were the day trip to Enoshima Island and the visit to TeamLab Planets. I’m more of a “tag-along” than a planner, so I really appreciated the weekly events that helped me experience Tokyo without needing to research and organize everything myself. At the same time, there was enough flexibility to explore independently.

I stayed in the accommodation provided by Beyond: a sharehouse which was clean and comfortable for an 8-week stay. The rooms were small but sufficient for the 2 months I was there.

I also had a great experience with my host company. My coworkers were friendly and supportive, and the tasks I was assigned were manageable. I had signed up for a Software Development internship but ended up working more with AI and query tuning than hands-on coding. Still, as my first internship, it was a good learning experience and gave me insight into a professional work environment.

One thing to keep in mind is the summer weather. I was there from June through July, and the heat and humidity were intense, especially if you're not used to subtropical weather. I absolutely loved my time here and definitely plan to return someday, but next time I think I’ll visit during a cooler season.

This experience was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Getting to explore and immerse myself into a completely different place and culture was incredible, and it was even better to improve my professional profile at the same time. With this experience, I was able to delay “real life” for a while, travel, and gain relevant work experience all at the same time. Building my resume while having weekly adventures with new friends in new places was a dream come true. I’d do it again in a heart beat!

Out of all the study abroad programs available to me, this is the one that I found to be most unique. You get a taste of Japanese culture while working with internationally cooperative employers. While the program did not offer internships directly in my field of study (Chemistry), they found an internship adjacently related to it (Market research) that usually requires a specialized degree. Through this experience, I was able to learn how to thrive in a professional environment in a short term placement with large amounts of support. Additionally, the people supporting this program are amazing: the staff are super helpful and the other interns are kind and easy to reach out to!
