Marketing

3 months (virtually) in Saigon was an eye opener! I worked for a local start-up and did all their marketing and public relations tasks in English. The whole process worked out quite smoothly from the start as Meiji Internships insured the communication to work well. I was trying to address my concerns and what I wanted to get out of my internship during my initial consultation call with Meiji. They showed a lot of understanding for my needs, but also been very honest to me with what I can expect in the actual internship. I really appreciated their honesty and also not trying to awaken wrong expectations, especially for a sophomore student with almost non-related prior work experience.

The biggest advice I can give all future interns is not to demand too many things during your initial interview call with the host company. Show that you are eager and hungry to learn something new and to challenge yourself without making conditions. It was difficult for me first to accept this fact but being open minded and embracing the new without making any demands played out to be the best approach in the long term. My modest approach was highly appreciated by my Vietnamese boss and I landed a paid internship with them for Summer next year. Looking forward to explore Vietnam as soon as this whole pandemic is hopefully over. Shoot out to Farina and the amazing staff at Meiji! You rock!!

Amaaaaazing!!!

I did a Virtual Internship with Meiji, which was really amazing! I learned a lot and my host company always helped me, whenever I struggled with a new task. My team was nice and supportive throughout the internship. I did this internship as part of my studies and it was easy to get it accredited at my university. I also recommended my friend to apply and he also found an internship quickly. If you are looking for a program that allows you to work abroad but from home, this is the best program. Thank you Meiji!

Home sweet home ^^

It felt so strange and at the same time so familiar having the chance to experience my internship abroad in Singapore right from the comfort zone of my home! The best thing was that I was scheduling my weekly workload freely to adjust my studies at uni. My host company was a Singaporean startup, which was very international but did not have any experiences with previous interns. That's why it came so handy that Meiji assisted with prearrangements in terms of concerns and worries that me and the host company had. However everything went on with a smooth start, except of the different "English" we spoke! I was completely unaware that there is a creol language called Singlish, which is very much English but then again not at all (especially when they speak quick) haha

Most of the important communication was done through Slack and other project management tools they were using. So there was little room for misunderstandings when it came to very important workrelated tasks. I have to say that when you work with Singaporeans you will soon find out that they prefer to be direct when addressing problems and I have learnt that very quickly. Get out of your comfort zone and make sure to raise any questions you might have.

Virtually in Seoul

Three months (virtually) in Seoul was a mind-blowing experience with my fellow Korean work colleagues who did a great job assisting me with all my queries. I was working for a digital marketing company specializing in SNS and social media solutions for clients from different industries ranging from manufacturers to wholesale traders for international commodities. It was the first time for me having this opportunity to look at social networking sites like Facebook, Insta, TikTok and YouTube from a complete different perspective!

Especially the cultural aspects of different markets using different messengers and apps was really interesting to me! Kakaotalk, Naver, KakaoStory, Naver Cafe and many more. I feel so well equipped for my "in-person" adventure when I can travel to Korea finally. This internship definitely gave me an immense advantage compared to my fellow peers and I cannot stress out the importance of doing a remote internship.
Meiji khamsamida for the great placement and ongoing support!

International Experience

Why not try virtual internship ? was my first thought!
For me meeting direct people and do face-to-face business is the most important for an internship. But chances were so difficult for me as my country is still suffering from Corona and most of the world is shut down. For my business development internship I chose Meiji because my other friends at my university did a virtual internship with them and were very happy.

They found me an IT & Marketing company in Tokyo. The best thing was most of my questions were answered in English by email and one of the staff could also communicate with me in English. I was worry that my lack of English might be a problem, because I am a non-native speaker, but all went very well and my supervisor was very patient with me. I think Virtual Internship is a very good options to use your time productive while you can not go to Asia. I hope Japan will open up soon so I can visit my new friends there. Muchas Gracias Amigos!!!

Good to for the next steps on my career

3 months virtual internship in a Taiwanese startup company was a mindblowing experience. I was involved in the marketing and business development operations of a new tech company in Taipei. I was looking so much forward to go to Taiwan for an internship, but the borders stayed closed during this Summer and there was no other way than doing a remote placement.

Fortunately it turned out that Meiji's superb consultation and career counselling during the whole process fostered my way into a great startup company. Honestly I was a bit hesitant when I heard about a startup as I had the image that small companies do not provide enough online learning resources and guidance that I was seeking for. However I was proved wrong and I am so happy that I chose them! After a slow start due to some language misunderstandings, I was provided with a proper plan on what I can do, when I want and experienced complete freedom of scheduling my tasks as I wish! The great thing is that I have always summed up all my questions on a weekly basis and had them answered by my supervisor. After three months we got so close that I know who I am going to visit when all this pandemic nonsense stops. Got already my one-way ticket to Taipei booked *just kidding *

Make the most during your time in this pandemic and take advantage of a virtual internship. If you don't, you'll miss out for sure!!!

Got some credit done!!

Got my uni credits while making valuable business contacts and brushing up on my basic Korean. I highly recommend everybody who has the time to do an internship should go for a virtual internship in Asia. I had my concerns about how all would work out, but to my positive surprise I got more out of it than I could have ever thought of. Two months in my design company in Seoul was an invaluable experience to get a sneak peek into how highly developed this country's media industry is. The only biggest drawback was that I could not physically be there and try all the yummy Korean food I saw from all the Mukbangs. kkkk
I will make sure to work more on my copywriting and Adobe photoshop skills as I saw how much more potential is there to progress. Thank you Meiji and hope to meet you guys one day in person:)

Good use of time!

Since my university requires me to do an internship as part of my international business & management studies, I was looking for places to a placement in Asia. I was hoping that countries like South Korea, Japan and other places in Southeast Asia have already resumed for some type of traveling, because within the EU most travel has resumed to much of precovid times. But to my disappointment I had to find out that I could not travel. I was looking for remote internship options, because my university accepts it as well for uni credits and I stumbled across Meiji.

Their advice and support throughout the process was really relieving. I was also able to find a great internship placement in South Korea and found out about the great solutions my host company came up for the remote challenges we had to face. My supervisor made great effort to e-introduce me to the other team members, learning about the company system and also experiencing the complete flexible work schedule I had! Just make sure that you make notes of meeting the deadlines on time. I learned a ton about time management, unsupervised working and also the art of business communication with my Korean teammates.

The best thing is that at the end they even organized a Zoom farewell party for me and I promised them to visit them in person once this whole pandemic is over. Khamsamnida for all the great help and worthwhile experience:)
