Ireland Trip

I have had the most amazing experience with global work and travel from start to finish! My team - in particular my arrivals coordinator Krystal has been absolutely incredible the whole time and I have always felt supported! I’m even considering booking another trip with you guys! Everything was so well organised from the very beginning and there was not one moment where I felt like I was waiting on them to move things along. All the included extras have been amazing as well! So thankful I booked this!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I get really stressed out in public transport and on a trip to London found myself crying at the train station infuriated because I couldn’t figure it out. It was at this moment that Krystal (my arrivals coordinator) called me just to check in and see how I had been doing only to then have to coach me through the train station 😂
Pros
  • I didn’t have to worry about not having all the correct paper work
  • They really accommodated the trip to what I wanted to do!
  • The job I got set up with is so amazing I’m going to struggle to leave!
Cons
  • Truly can’t think of any

Amazing Working Holiday Experience in Australia!

I have had an AMAZING experience with Global Work & Travel and especially with my Trip Coordinator, Bella, who helped me set up my Working Holiday in Australia. 🛫🌏🇦🇺

Bella guided me throughout the whole process of getting all my details together, set up my phone number, organized my trips, set up my Australian Tax File Number, helped me find a work position, and answered questions I had along the way. Honestly, I am really happy that I made the decision to go with GW&T because it saved me a lot of time and energy.

Could I have done all of this myself? Yes, but it would have been a lot of work that I did not have the time for. What I like about going through GW&T is that I can reach out for help or trip advice, and if I need to apply for another job they can connect me with their partners. Thanks again Bella and the rest of the GW&T team! 🎉🙌🏼

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Have fun!!

My experience with Global Work and Travel

My travel coordinator Krystal went above and beyond from my initial interaction with her to the moment I landed in the UK. She made the whole process stress free and I felt so supported with her consistent positive energy. I was able to instantly connect with other Global Travellers making the move away from home a whole lot easier. The stress of trying to meet new people is made so much easier and I have now made friends for life!
I couldn’t recommend Krystal and her team at Global Work and Travel enough.

Pros
  • Stress free solo travel!
  • Great way to meet new people!
  • Constant support from travel coordinator!

A Spanish adventure

I embarked on this trip with no Spanish language whatsoever. I also didn’t know a soul in the country. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning Spanish with the school. The teachers are incredibly friendly and helpful and the small class sizes make for an more personalised learning experience. Admittedly it did take me some weeks to make friends and feel settled. However, I believe this is completely normal for anyone moving to a new country. The accommodation I was placed in was not what I was hoping for. But both the school and the agency were very quick to assist me in finding a more suitable set up when I raised this with them. I did hope that there would be other students taking part in the same program, however I believe this program is a new addition and will only grow in popularity. Would certainly recommend this trip to anyone considering learning Spanish in Spain!

Pros
  • Ideal class times
  • Plenty of free time
  • A handy guide to the city
Cons
  • My host family accommodation
  • The price
  • Lack of other students participating in the same program

Why did you choose this program?

I signed up for the Working-Holiday Program with Global Work & Travel and am super delighted by their service. The reason I chose Global Work & Travel was because of the amazing value that came with the package. They helped me with my work arrangements, bank account set-up, Australian phone number set-up, tax file set-up, initial accommodation, and included great excursions. Yes I could technically have done all of these things myself, but the amount of time, energy, and money I saved was worth it for me, and I would recommend it to others as well.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

Bella was my Trip Coordinator and she has been fantastic throughout. She helped me with my trip preparation, work arrangements, tax set-up, arrival and pick-up, phone SIM set-up, trip arrangements, etc. She's also been available for any questions that I have had and has been super informative! Truly appreciate her help.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I would say that it helps to know what you are looking for in your trip so that you can direct your journey, while being flexible about how it may play out. I did research ahead of time on the places I wanted to visit and the experiences I wanted to have. For example:

1. I followed pages on social media that share places of interest in the city I was going to (Brisbane).
2. I went on Google Maps, zoomed in on places that looked interesting, and started saving them on my map so that I can check them out.
3. I did research on communities and activities I could take part in on a regular basis so that I could start making friends and have something to look forward to every week.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

Once I arrived in Australia, I had about 4 days in the Gold Coast which was filled with exploration and a few excursions set up by GW&T. After that I spent about a month exploring Brisbane and the surrounding areas. Then it was time to get start work! Once I started working, the day-to-day experience of living in Brisbane was in a sense similar to my usual work life in Canada. The difference was that there were new places to explore and people to meet, enmeshed with a more friendly and laid-back lifestyle that I really enjoyed! Since I had done some research beforehand, I also would go to weekly activities like open gym at a local gymnastics club.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

My biggest fear was whether everything would work out well in the end. Will I have enough money? Will I be able to travel around? Am I making the right decision with the working-holiday visa? The way that I overcame these thoughts was by praying for guidance, tuning into my inner compass, and talking to trusted loved ones. Once I was actually in Australia and started to get into the swing of things, I came to realize that it all worked out better than I could have planned.

Calum Fisher

Job Title
Trip Coordinator
Calum is a trip coordinator with Global Work and Travel and helps people plan their adventures overseas. He has been with the company for nearly 4 years and has worked on 100 different trips across 27 destinations.

He has been to around 15 countries himself and is always on the look out for a new destination to tick off the bucket list.

What is your favorite travel memory?

In April 2022, I got the chance to go to Costa Rica for 2 weeks. My mind was completely blown with the amazing beaches, forests, animals and people. My favourite location was Tamarindo. Growing up near the beach myself, it was fantastic to see such a beautiful place with palm trees and soft sand.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

100%. I've become more confident as a person. I've had the opportunity to work with great colleagues who push and challenge me to be a better coordinator. I also reaffirmed my love for helping people. I've also become more independent and feel valued as a colleague with fun events together. Best company I've worked for.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I received some photos from a traveller in Thailand. It was great to see how much fun they were having and all the new friends they had made. You get reminded as why we do what we do. Its fantastic to see the work you've put in become a real persons new life and its extremely rewarding. Especially if they have been nervous or unsure before they have left.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to do the trunks and tails program. Thailand is a country that has always been on my bucket list. The fact that you get to work with elephants in their natural habitat, feed and watch them interact with each other is fantastic. You also have rescue paws included which is a street dog rescue charity. I'm a massive dog lover so this is right up my street.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I love the service we provide. We always go that extra mile to make sure a travellers trip is the best they've ever had. Theres so many different options too so theres something for everyone, whether its working on a bar on a island resort in Australia or being an au pair in france to volunteering with the elephants in Thailand, theres so much choice.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I feel we've been amazing at adapting to the economic climate. COVID put the brakes on travel for such a long time but our CEO and team managed to navigate us through really difficult and unknown time. I have faith and reassurance that we're heading in the right direction and I'm really excited to see what the future holds.
